They’re both sacked out!

Owen’s baseball stuff is in Tom’s truck BECAUSE OF COURSE IT IS.
I don’t have enough time to go get his stuff and make it back to pick him up from strength training and then get to baseball camp.
Owen doesn’t want to go to baseball camp anyway because his arm hurts.
Oh, and he doesn’t want to go to baseball camp at all anymore because “he knows everything already” — forget that we spent $200 on it.
Tom isn’t answering his texts.
I checked Owen’s summer health class scores and they are not where they should be.
The housekeepers come tomorrow, and I just want to burn the house down.
And the new swipe keyboard I’m testing is a disaster.
Owen was filling in on our friend Jamie’s team for a game so Tom could just sit and relax instead of coaching…but he just couldn’t take it and was pacing a bit and taking to the other coaches. He finally did manage to sit down once the game started! I liked it it because I got all my baseball questions answered!
Tom is working from home today and sent me this saying we just need two more to have a square!
After a stretch, Olive was in the danger zone!
We rarely let the dogs upstairs…but tonight we did.
Ivy saw her first mirror and was entranced. I thought she might bark at herself but she didn’t.
After playing for about five minutes, they finally calmed down and slept. Together of course.
Then olive turned into a clove.
Omg y’all. We watched the original 1996 Scream tonight because Katie has been saying she wants to watch horror movies.
This was the first movie Tom and I saw together in the theater so we wanted to see how it held up. Of course we didn’t remember how bloody it really was… Owen bowed out after the first few scenes saying he didn’t like scary movies. Katie freaking loved it and now wants to watch the rest of the series. (I hadn’t kept track and there are six!)
I’m not a fan of horror/slasher films (I’ve never had any desire to see any of the Freddy/Jason franchises) so we’ll see what happens next.
Owen volunteered to play in the jazz band before his promotion ceremony!
I love that he was able to walk with his good friend Lucas…
And Anna (as school board president) was able to give him his diploma!
And then it was off to our celebratory dinner at The Chocolate Sanctuary because it’s closing soon! Of course I forgot to get a photo of our whole group but I did get a picture of my chocolate strawberry martini!
First and last day photo!
Soooo this is happening today. Perfect timing weather-wise as it might be open longer than we thought did to unforseen wood rot issues.
It’s in but I didn’t take a final photo yet because the molding and such isn’t complete!
Owen’s 8th grade graduation boat trip at Navy Pier is today. His entire outfit is courtesy of Tom – since Owen couldn’t wear jeans and didn’t realize until last night that he didn’t have khakis (even though I asked him a week ago) and then also realized he didn’t have any clean shirts or matching shoes. Because kids.
I legit just asked Tom if he could see my glasses anywhere.
We can’t afford to redo the entire deck at once so it’s baby projects for now… and today Tom only had time for one side.
And a different two.
We briefly considered letting Ivy have a litter… because OMG could you even imagine a litter of Boston puppies?! But then we thought about how much work that would be — and how tempting it would be to keep one or more of them — and we scheduled her spay.
I never order the photos but I do try to get a photo of them myself!
And let’s reminisce… Baseball in 2015 (his first season):
And this face!
These buggers sure blend in well.
Baby bunny in a bowl…
Sooooo Ivy just brought a baby rabbit into the house…in her teeth. It wasn’t quite dead…so Tom had to kill it. Katie was a mess. Poor Ivy, I’m sure, just thought it was a toy.
We went outside to look for more (just in case) and Tom found the nest (and another bunny). As he was moving it outside the fence (to be near where we saw the mama bunny), I almost stepped on this one hiding in the grass.
We relocated that one, too.
Both fence doors are very much worse for the wear so when we saw a great deal on the metal frame, we picked up two. Tom ended up having to replace all the wood, but now it swings open soooo nicely! One down, one to go!
Tom texted me to come downstairs because he needed to get up (and obviously the dogs still needed a warm lap)…
So I come downstairs and put a blanket on my lap and they got up and ran over.
They’re not spoiled. Nope.
Since they get along so well, they’ll be sleeping together now!
Northern Illinois Music Conference
Thankfully it wasn’t too far to Highland Park Middle School—and they looked pretty alert for 8am.
Between performances we just hung around the library/cafeteria area with Lucas’ parents. It’s a really nice school.
Owen’s big ensemble did The Entertainer and it was really good!
After the performance, the judge gives them a few tips and suggestions and has them practice some bars again to see the difference. It’s really neat.
Owen couldn’t find the black shoes we bought him for band concerts so Tom went up to his room…and piled ALLLLL the dirty clothes on his bed to make searching easier. They still didn’t find them so who knows where they are.
We wanted to try it after seeing tons of ads for it—we were intrigued. So we finally forked over $10 for a box and…meh.
As you can see — the bag is only half full. And it was a smaller box to start. The taste was okay — it definitely didn’t taste like the sugar cereals of our youth like they claim. That said, it wasn’t bad…but I wouldn’t waste your money on this unless you really REALLY specifically needed this type of product and just couldn’t live without cereal.
