I just tried on a Ralph Lauren pantsuit…in Medium Petite. It was a tiny bit too small…but it fit. A MEDIUM PETITE, PEOPLE. I loved it, though, and want to find it in the right size! (I didn’t think I was actually a petite…but…I do have some short pants that fit perfectly so I thought I’d try it. It was also the only size they had.)

I’m constantly amazed by Owen’s reading.ย
This is the book he checked out at school this week and he’s been reading 10-15 pages a night to us! It’s rated for 5th-8th grade!!
Papa and Grannie’s big surprise!
Someone didn’t recognize me!
So, today I had my first real experience with someone not recognizing me! I feel like I see friends and acquaintances frequently enough—plus I share a lot on Facebook—that no one should really be that surprised. I’ve been told that seeing me in person is much different, but still, you know to expect the change.
So after morning program I ran into his old assistant kindergarten teacher in the hall on the way out. She chatted for a moment then had an A-HA look and said “Have you lost weight?” I said yes, and she said she hadn’t even recognized me! She had recognized Katie but wondered who she was with…then realized it was me…but hadn’t wanted to ask about the weight loss but then did anyway. Of course she was amazed when I told her I’d lost 125 pounds (I’m rounding—I was at 124.8 this morning). And she hadn’t seen me around the school and we’re not Facebook friends…so she had NO idea!
Our best pizza yet!
We just made our best pizza yet!
Goat cheese with rosemary and garlic infused oil*, caramelized onions, flank steak, and fresh mozzarella. I mixed too much oil into the goat cheese so it seeped out in the oven and started to smoke on the stone…but the bonus side effect was actually a crispier, fried crust! It was our best pizza yet!
* We were gifted a bottle of goat cheese that was marinated in rosemary and roasted garlic oil. After the amazingly delicious goat cheese was gone, we used the oil mixed with our own (Costco) goat cheese to make a paste for the pizza.
And then I had a clothes bender…
So, as a byproduct of the weight loss, pretty much everything in my closet is new. But I’ve been holding off on buying summer clothes until I got closer to my final weight so I wouldn’t have to buy even more summer clothes (I went through multiple sets of winter clothes as sizes kept changing). The weather is getting nicer now…so it was finally time to get some summer stuff. As luck would have it, friends were staying with us for the weekend and Sheryl—who has worked in the fashion industry for probably 35 years—went with me to pick out some new stuff.
AND OMG IT WAS SOOOOO MUCH FUN!!! :p
AND OMG I SPENT ENTIRELY TOO MUCH MONEY!!!! ๐ฏ
But I now have a whole new wardrobe of SUPER cute and stylish (!) summer clothes thanks to Sheryl’s assistance. It was so much fun…
- looking for and trying clothes on with a friend.
- fitting into pretty much every single thing I tried.
- being able to decide what pieces I really LOVED and not just what FIT.
- liking how I looked in most of it (though Sheryl had to convince me of some pieces).
- buying most things in size large, but also a medium and even a small! A SMALL!!
I got six dresses (from a formal ball gown to casual sundresses), 11 tops, 2 pair of jeans, a pair of patterned slacks, a short skirt, two long pencil skirts, and a spring/fall all-weather parka (because the same type coat I just got in October is WAY too big—GRRR).
I don’t think I’ve done a clothes shopping trip like this EVER in my life—the closest might be a back-to-school shopping trip where I’d get like two pair of jeans, a few tops, a sweater, a pair of shoes, and some socks. It was expensive, but everything was from Nordstrom Rack and Marshalls so overall it wasn’t bad. And I am now set for summer clothes for the next few years, if not more (since NS should keep me at about this same size forevermore—I mean, realistically, I could wear these clothes for the next 8-10 years).
BRING ON SUMMER!!
I had my first bender tonight.
Food bender, that is—dinner out with 15 peeps at what turned out to be an amazing restaurant (Green Pig Bistro).
The food was all excellent and everyone was passing around plates to try everything (because the portions were HUGE)…so on top of probably 15 bites of random dishes (which would have been a complete meal in itself), I ate my entire plate (which actually was one of the smaller plates—four tiny scallops and probably a cup of crab and coconut risotto) and then a few bites of desserts (ours, plus others!).
I didn’t feel overstuffed at the time, though I knew I obviously ate too much. But I ended up waking up during the night feeling like I had a hangover. I actually had to think: “Wait. Did I drink last night?” Because it felt sooo similar. (Note: I didn’t drink.)
The following morning I didn’t even want to think about food. And I was nervous to step on the scale—I had actually been pretty close to losing my 4# of fluff but that went out the window. But DAMN it was worth it. ๐
One fun part of the dinner was a surprise birthday dessert for Tom! We had seen another table get the sparkler and one of us decided that it should happen at our table because fire. And they just happened to pick Tom!
Happy un-birthday, Tom!
My phone call with the president!
I just got off the phone with Marcia Upson, the President of Naturally Slim!!
I had gotten an email from her the other day asking if it would be okay for her to call me. WHAT?! OF COURSE! HOLY COW! So we finally got in touch today.
I had no idea why she wanted to talk to me, but turns out she learned I was jealous that Brad (a Tivo friend) got to meet her when he filmed his testimonial last week! (He lives in Texas where NS is headquartered so he was able to go in to record his testimonial in person and ended up meeting andย having lunch with Marcia.) So she said “Well I can call her!” ๐
She also wanted to congratulate me on my success thus far, thank me for (in her words) my amazing testimonial (link coming as soon as they produce it), and just have a nice chat! It was all a bit of a blur, but according to my call log, we talked for 22 minutes—while she was on the treadmill, no less!—and she’s just as warm and gracious and lovely as you’d imagine her to be. What a pleasure.
We talked about the kids (she loves age 3!), hubby (she was excited for me when I said I now weigh less than him), my video testimonial (she really really loved it—said it felt very honest and heartfelt), the reason why the program price went up (since they are now affiliated with insurance companies, they have to do a yearly program with a cost per class and that’s how much it comes to), and the Tivo group (she loves that we have a spreadsheet—she’s amazed that we have so many people that have lost so much weight).
I told her they really need to find a celebrity spokesperson—like Oprah just did Weight Watchers and their stock went bananas and she thought that was a good idea. I told her I had a famous name but wasn’t famous so I wouldn’t be much help and she admitted that when she was first told about me, she did momentarily wonder. ๐
She asked what videos I saw and I told her THE MARCIA VIDEOS and we talked a bit about that. I told her she was just SO much more relatable than a random doctor ever could be and I couldn’t imagine them without her. Like you were talking to a neighbor who’d been there instead of someone in a white coat telling you what has to happen. She basically said this is her baby…her life…and will NEVER let them force her out of the videos!
I admitted I was frustrated to have only lost 10# in two months (after losing that much in as little as three weeks before), but that it was still 10# and each week that I lost a tiny bit I envisioned her holding up the ounce or pound fat blob (the last pic is a 5# blob).
She said she knows I will have no problem losing the rest of my goal.
I told her to let me know if there’s anything I can ever do. She said I already have—the testimonial I did was amazing. She then told me to contact her if I ever need anything. ๐
I told her today was a banner day for me—Onederland PLUS meeting and talking to her! She was very supportive and enthusiastic about Onderland and very gracious about my excitement to meet her.
Lastly I thanked her for saving my life with Naturally Slim and she was genuinely moved.
What an amazing person and a wonderful experience.
ONEDERLAND!!!
Thrift store scores!
100! 100! 100!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ME!
I DID IT! My first big goal—100 pounds—is complete! After “restarting” the program after not losing anything over the holidays, I busted my butt and lost 6.6# this past week and this happened at today’s weigh-in!
I really wanted to make my goal by the end of the year, and I think this is pretty damn close! And since I’m technically still Obese, now it’s time for the next 30-40!!!
I just ran a mile.
I haven’t ran a mile in, um, EVER?!
I got on the treadmill tonight for my usual mile walk and at about .75 miles I thought “Hey, let me try running the last quarter mile.” I’d run two, walked two, run two, etc., a time or two before, but it was always hard and not enjoyable in the least.
But tonight I felt good and I wasn’t winded so at the one-mile mark, I thought “Hey, let me go to finish out a full 20 minutes” (a mile would have been about 18 minutes, so I was adding another two minutes of running.)
At 20 minutes I was still feeling good so I just kept going. And then I thought “Hey, what if I ran a mile? NAH. I can’t run a mile. But what if I did?” I had a good song on repeat so I just. kept. going.
So tonight I walked .75 mile and ran one mile.
I’m gobsmacked.
Kidless Adulting Party Time!
Not to toot my own horn, LOL, but I thought I looked damn good and I felt amazing in my $20 size 14 dress. ๐
Everyone I saw at the party that I knew (a small handful of the 40-odd people) told me I looked amazing. I honestly felt like a fairy princess and didn’t want the night to end. I can’t remember a time—EVER—when I’ve felt that good about myself and/or how I looked. Not even at my wedding (though that was an awesome day!).
I see the dress on a hanger and think “Man that looks small. There’s no way I fit into that.” But I obviously did. And I killed it. ๐ (And I still have about 40-50 more pounds to go! I cannot even FATHOM that.)
Also tonight? Wearing a winter coat I last wore…in high school. Yes, I’ve kept it for 24 years because it was an awesome coat and dammit I was going to fit into it again someday!
This gets me excited for two reasons.
Three if you count that it means a kidless night out at a holiday party.
If you can’t guess the two reasons, it’s 1) size 14 and 2) a good deal!
The backstory? I needed something to wear for a holiday party. I had NOTHING holiday-ish in my closet at all. No dress slacks, no khakis, no skirts, no dressy sweaters even. I had one dress that would have been okay, but I kind of wanted something new that was a bit more holiday-party-appropriate. So I went shopping at Ross and was looking at 16s. 16s!!! (I now wear size 16 jeans so thought a dress would be the same.) I haven’t bought a size 16 dress in…since maybe high school? So I picked four and tried them all on—and they all fit. Wait. What? I’m used to maybe one thing fitting and hoping it doesn’t look awful, LOL. So I was able to pick the one Iiked the best. And it was on clearance! So imagine my surprise when I got home and realized it was a 14! Holy crap! I never would have looked at the size 14 section! ๐
My 15 minutes of fame?!
Do you recognize anyone on Naturally Slim’s Facebook page? ๐
A week or so ago I Tweeted my current results (81# lost after 26 weeks) and today they Liked it, retweeted it, and messaged me to ask if they could use it on their other social media accounts as inspiration for others. Of course I said YES! A little while later, it appeared on their Facebook page!
Of course, I’m completely embarrassed that my bedroom is such a hot mess in the Before photos…but I’m hoping that the After photos take people’s eye’s away. ๐
I love finding treasures like this in coat pockets.
Naturally Slim Update
Halloween in Grayling
The kids were super excited about treak-or-treating at Gramma’s house…and we were, too…until the Michigan weather happened. Yeah, it was 38° and rainy. Egads. If you look closely enough you can see Katie’s polka-dot long johns under her white tights (and she also had on pink tights!).
On the front porch where my Halloween picture was taken every year…
Everyone (including Uncle Rob) ready to head out!
There weren’t many houses lit up but the ones that were were handing out TONS of candy! You see how full their bags look? We had only hit maybe six houses at this point!
After about 15 minutes they gave up on the umbrellas and just ran from house to house while we waited at the road. Soon enough we were back at Gramma’s door!!
Home after an hour of being out in the rain—they were soaked but happy!!
Tom gave the kids a hot shower and put them in PJs while I made them hot cocoa!
Eating Mallow cups from daddy and Uncle Rob—they were Grandma Marsha’s favorite treat and someone brought a bag of them for the boys.
LOOKS AT THEIR HAUL!! The weather sure stunk but it was great for quick candy accumulation. They got 9# of candy from less than 20 houses!
Potty Training, Day 1
Tom was going into work late so he was up first with the kids. He took Katie around and they threw away all her diapers and put her diaper changing pads in the garage! She was already eating breakfast naked when I came downstairs. ๐
Then I got her salty snack stash ready for the day…anything and everything to make her thirsty!
Checking it out…
Super giddy to see all the treats she can eat…all. day. long. Complete with a magically replenishing juice box. Three days only! ๐
Settling in for a movie…on a waterproof pad, of course!
8:00 And whaddya know? She peed on the little potty all by herself! Surprised the heck out of us…but she just said “I have to go potty!” and went right to the potty chair and peed like she’s been doing it her whole life. I had a brief moment where I thought “It can’t possibly be this easy, can it?”
Popsicle!
11:00 Fast forward through three hours of me saying I was proud of her for being a big girl and using the potty and reminding her to use the potty…and she went to get another juice box from the fridge—so she was out of my sight for about eight seconds—and she came right back and told me she peed on the floor.
๐
This is the maddening part. She obviously knows when she has to go since she did it perfectly this morning. So why not this time? Interestingly, even though I wasn’t mad at all and just had her help me clean it up, she asked if I was mad at her. I assured her I wasn’t.
So then she wanted to paint so we did that…for all of two minutes. Then I was watching her closely because I suspected she had to poop, and I was just about to comment when she said I HAVE TO GO POOP and went right to the potty and pooped a huge poop! And she was TERRIBLY excited to go dump it in the potty! WOOHOO!
Of course, knowing what happened with the peeing this morning…I honestly don’t anticipate a duplicate recurrence…though I will keep my fingers crossed.
1:15 She peed a tiny dribble in the potty without any reminder. We went upstairs to tell daddy the good news (he’s home early but studying) and then…
1:20 She peed again—this time a full amount! I was walking down the stairs (she had run ahead of me) and she was already carrying the potty insert to the bathroom! She dumped it out the was off to put another sticker on the chart!
2:30 We Skyped with Gramma Jean so we could tell her how awesome Katie has been doing…and she peed in the potty while we were skyping! She took Gramma to put her sticker on!
3:40 She got tired of snacky stuff and asked for fruit. ๐
4:45ย She peed in her potty while I was getting dinner ready. That was #5 for the day so she for her reward—her choice between two new books! She picked There’s A Mouse About the House.
Daddy read it to them:
We ate dinner outside and she left the table once for a false alarm and once to pee for real! Then she peed again once we got back inside! YAY KATIE!
For bedtime we put her in a nighttime diaper—explaining that nighttime and naps are the ONLY times she gets to wear a diaper because her body is asleep a LOOOONG time and doesn’t yet know how to wake up to pee. And the diaper comes off first thing in the morning.
So overall it went MUCH better than I anticipated…and I hope that tomorrow goes just as well.
SCORE!
I finally found my favorite Biscuits & Gravy chips!
I feel like I’ve surely been somewhere thy had them but I wasn’t interested then. And then I tried them, loved them, wanted them…and didn’t see them anywhere. I’m set for awhile, though I’ll likely end up with more bags before they disappear. (These are the current flavors to vote for a new flavor. Obviously my selection is biscuits and gravy though the Truffle aren’t bad.)
Our first homemade ice cream!
I’ve had a simple/inexpensive Cuisinart ice cream maker on my Amazon watchlist for awhile now, and it hit it’s lowest price ever the other day, so I finally bought it. I figure we don’t eat that much ice cream anymore, so why not be able to make whatever flavors we want in much smaller quantities when we want it?
So we made peanut butter Oreo tonight. The kids helped me get the mix ready (no pics of that because I was too busy helping hold the mixer) and they were EXCITED.
She would have spent the entire 15 minutes like this if we let her. ๐
I didn’t get any pics of the end product or of us eating it because we snarfed it down pretty quickly. (Also, we all had very small portions—maybe 3-4 spoonsful—with the rest going in the freezer.) It was quite tasty—and a soft-serve consistency which I really really like (similar to a DQ Blizzard!). So it was a success!
Owen’s Good Character Award
Owen’s teacher emailed me last night to let me know he was getting the award this morning and that he didn’t know about it—so she left it up to us whether or not to tell him. We opted to keep it a surprise—and Tom was luckily able to make it, so we kept that a surprise, too!
He doesn’t see us…
Doesn’t see us…
Then sees daddy!!
Such a happy little boy!
Owen’s part is about at 2:11.
Mrs. McLenigan and Mrs. Stulman did a great job with the kids—all four 1st grade award recipients were from their kindergarten class!
Our first overnight sous vide!
Owen’s half birthday pool party!
The wait was finally over—the day for Owen’s postponed birthday pool party! And the weather was perfect!! We had 19 kids and 14 adults!
The timing was perfect: at the end of every hour, the lifeguards take a 15-minute break and all kids must exit the pool. So we used this time to have our pizza lunch!
The second break was time for cake! Of course, I had completely forgot to put the balloon in the cake…
So it went in the leftovers so I could take a picture. ๐
Two of the kids from his Kindergarten class (who are about his size so he looks normal!).
Everyone had a great time! The kids LOVED the water shooters and, while a few got broken, each kid was able to take one home. We guessed pretty good on the pizza—we ordered five and ate about four. There was enough cake to leave out a few pieces and freeze a nice chunk for a later date. The best part was after 10 minutes of cleaning up and packing the car, we were DONE. ๐
Six weeks in, 27 pounds down!
So.
Remember when I said I knew I wouldn’t be doing low-carb forever because it’s just not sustainable? Well, Tom and I are now working on a new lifestyle change…and have both been quite successful. And the best thing is that it’s completely sustainable: 80% of people keep the weight off after a year!
It’s a program that I’d never heard of but that a Tivo friend had done VERY successfully—and a bunch of other Tivo friends were interested in it and all decided to do it—so we jumped in, too! It’s called Naturally Slim and it’s a different way to lose weight that you just can’t believe until you try it.
From their website:
There are no foods to buy, no points to count, no guidelines on what you can and canโt eat. Sound too good to be true? The secret to Naturally Slim is really simple common sense, and the method for success simply involves learning some new techniques about how and when you should eat. Thatโs it. No gimmicks, no fads, no crashing, flushing, suffering, sacrificing, and no long-term commitments.
In the just-less-than two weeks that we’ve been doing it, I’ve lost 8# and have not felt deprived at all. I am eating SO much less food now, it’s unbelievable—but the most unbelievable part is that I’m eating WHATEVER I want. Pizza? Yes. Garlic bread? Yes. Pasta? Yes. Bacon cheeseburgers? Yes. Guacamole? Yes. Bruschetta? Yes. The only thing that we are really cutting out right now (for the first three weeks of the 10-week program) is sugar (and wine for me)—so no ice cream, cookies, cake, regular pop, etc.—but that’s not a big deal for us since we rarely have that stuff anyway. We can add it back in weeks 4-10 (and beyond) as long as we do it the right way.
But I digress.
I’m not going to go into all of the details, but suffice it to say that once you learn how to listen to your body and eat the right way—following the principles you learn in the program—you may find that you only eat one or two meals a day (and smaller meals at that). It takes time and dedication to learn the principles and it’s not an overnight thing…but it does work.
For example, neither Tom nor I eat breakfast anymore. (Forget what you’ve always heard about needing to eat breakfast. Really.) So Tuesday I had eaten lunch with the kids around 12:30 (and I honestly shouldn’t have eaten then because I wasn’t truly hungry) and I wasn’t hungry at dinnertime, so I skipped dinner. I wasn’t hungry before bed, I wasn’t hungry when I woke up Wednesday, I wasn’t hungry at my usual lunch time, and I honestly wasn’t hungry when I finished making dinner at 6, but I ate a small portion anyway because it had been 30 HOURS since I’d eaten anything and it just seemed…wrong. But according to the principles, I should have waited. When was the last time—aside from being sick—that you didn’t feel hungry for THIRTY HOURS?! It’s both exciting and bizarre at the same time.
Now, I know you are skeptical, but I am not lying and saying I’m not hungry. I’m not starving myself. I’m LITERALLY not hungry. I definitely eat when I am hungry—and I will never starve myself (that’s why I liked low-carb—I could always eat something filling and never felt HUNGRY).
So, just be prepared if we ever have to eat with you—we may not actually eat. ๐ Well, we will eat, but we might not eat when you do. That’s honestly the part that stinks and is hard to get used to—since you ONLY eat when you’re hungry, we often miss eating with the kids (we sit with them but we might not eat) and sometimes we don’t even eat together. There are ways to hold off on eating (say, if I’m ready to eat at 4pm but we’re not eating until 6pm) but you never eat early to keep on a schedule.
Granted, we are only on week 2 so we’re still leaning the ins and outs of what our bodies want and things could still change, but we have generally figured out our schedules. (Well, I thought I had my schedule figured out—lunch between 12:30-1:30 and dinner between 6:00-7:00—until that 30-hour span of not being hungry. Now I’m trying to work it out again. It feels like I’m headed toward being a one-time-a-day eater which isn’t common but not unheard of.)
So, things are interesting around here. But the weight—and inches!—are coming off so we’re both happy! I’ve added a tracker with my ultimate goal over in the right column under the kids’ age trackers—I’m over a quarter of my way to my goal in just six weeks!! Go me!
There’s nothing like trying on clothes…
So, three weeks ago I went to Kohls and thought “Let me look for a new bathing suit.” Ha. HAHA. There’s nothing like trying on clothes—especially bathing suits—to really hit home a weight gain.
My body is weird. I really don’t feel like I ever change my exercise habits or my eating habits but my weight will fluctuate anywhere from 10-30 pounds in a year. I’ll be a consistent amount for eight months and then I’ll gain 10 pounds and stay at that weight for a year… But obviously something has happened lately because I’m outside my normal fluctuation.
So I decided it was time. Right there in the dressing room.
Low-carb is easiest for me since I’ve done it before and I am really hoping/planning on doing it just for the initial weight drop and then continuing with something more sensible. But damn. Our pantry is filled with carbs. And I hate making dinner anyway since the kids are rarely fans of anything…so the first weeks of low-carb are super painful for that reason alone. The actual not eating isn’t that bad…
The first day wasn’t even done and I already missed alcohol. Not that I drink a lot, but maybe 2-3 nights a week I’ll have a drink.
After the first day, it was apparent I didn’t remember quite as much about low-carb eating as I thought I did. I looked at my daily totals and holy wah. Yes, I know I ate too many carbs because I was still getting into the plan (after all, I had just decided with no advance planning so we weren’t correctly stocked for low-carb) but a banana? 31 carbs. An onion (to go with the steak)? 8 carbs! That’s about two day’s worth of carbs right there! Then add in the 1 piece of pizza I had for lunch (25), the Mike’s Hard Lemonade I succumbed to (33), and the 1/4 cup quinoa and rice I knew was bad (27)…and that’s about my carbs for the week.
Soooooo…for the first few days, I decided I was concentrating on just lowering my overall food intake (which I did considerably—I caught myself gazing in the pantry about three times and walked away) and watching carbs. And that went well.
As I said, I know going into this that it isn’t sustainable long term (considering I’ve regained the 60# I lost before—though it did take 10 years and two pregnancies!) but I think the big initial weight loss that always happens with low-carb will be enough to kickstart me into a healthier future.
I think snacking/grazing is one of my biggest problems. I’ve found myself just wanting to eat something…anything…even though I’m not hungry. Portion control is another big problem. What I’ve realized after the past three weeks of pretty strict low-carb eating is how much I was actually eating before…and how little I actually need. Yesterday I ate about 900 calories and 30 carbs and at no time was I really hungry. (I usually eat more calories than that, but I was testing how very little I could eat while not being HUNGRY.) I tend to eat small bits all day long…only eating when I’m actually hungry. And at meals, I rarely take seconds and try to take smaller portions overall.
So, at one week, I was down 7#. I knew it was just first week success and wouldn’t continue (and I fluctuated lower than that during the week) but as I said, the mental reward is BIG. And the jeans that were too tight last week fit this week.
At two weeks, I was down 14.5#. YAY! A HUGE mental boost. And I even drank wine! So I think the biggest part was just not eating AS MUCH.
Then throughout the next week there was a lot of fluctuation and I gained some back (I know I should only weigh once a week but I weigh mid-week to keep myself on track). There was some not-good eating a time or two, but nothing crazy.
So this morning has been three weeks, and I’m down 15#. A bit of a disappointment considering I was at 14.5 last week, but overall it’s still a big per-week loss, so I am happy!
I’m thinking after I’ve kickstarted my weight loss for a month or so (so another few weeks?), I’ll transition to a more moderate plan (much less food overall, more fruit and veggies, etc.) because eating regular foods with the family is so much easier.
Wish me luck!
Our old couch is new again.ย
We sold our brown leather hideaway couch because we don’t really need the extra bed anymore, we wanted to ditch the weight before our next move, it was starting to get a little worn, and we wanted to get some money out of it before it died.
We still had our old L-shaped couch in the basement, so for the time being, we’re just using part of it. The kids LOVED it.
I was in heaven.
Today we went to a friend’s BBQ (t-ball/40th birthday party)—they have a super awesome house with a great deck and huge back yard. So I spent the afternoon listening to dance 80s music with a cool breeze blowing while I sat in the shade. The kids all played happily. I drank some wine and ate some good food (the grilling meat smelled divine). I got to visit with friends…and relax. In short, I was in heaven. The kids had a ball, too, playing with all the other kids, running around the yard, playing on the playset, playing air hockey in the basement, and snacking on chips and cake! ๐
Saturday Night Dinner
I finally remembered to take a picture of our group at dinner. Tonight we had my good friend Ruth (and her daughter Emily) who came down from Maryland, Frank and Beth (and their two girls) who have attended before, and a t-ball mom Kate (and her daughter) that I befriended recently (unfortunately, her husband had to stay home with their three boys because their behavior had been lacking).
Owen was at our table because we had extra seats and the kids table was filled with four girls. ๐
Of course, it had started storming terribly at the exact moment Tom needed to be out grilling, but I had the foresight to have him put up our old umbrella so he didn’t get completely soaked. ๐
We all had an amazing time with lots of laughs and can’t wait to do it again!!
