Yeah baby!

Owen was putting away his Lego pieces by tossing them from about two feet away. With each one he got in the basket, he’d say “Yeah baby!” So it goes like this:

The piece makes it in.
Yeah baby!
The piece makes it in.
Yeah baby!
The piece makes it in.
Yeah baby!
The piece makes it in.
Yeah baby!
The piece DOESN’T make it in.
Noooo baby!

🙂

A Lego minifig head is exactly the size of Owen’s nostril.

Wonder how I know? 😐

Yes, this was the first thing he actually stuck up his nose and couldn’t get out. I had to get the tweezers and threaten to take all his Legos away if he did it again.

  • Karen—And that item looks pissed!
  • Sheryl—Look at Owen’s face – did he get yelled at?
  • Katherine—It happens
  • Jennifer—Sheryl, not yelled at, but definitely told to SIT STILL AND DON’T TOUCH IT while I ran to get the tweezers…and to not do it again.
  • Andrew—*laughs* Poor Owen.
  • Jean—Remember when one of your “Brownie” friends stuck a Nerd up her nose in the car on the way to Cedar Point? OMG.
  • Kristin—My brother in law didn’t stick things up his nose. He stuck red hots up his SISTER’S nose.
  • Tammy—Poor Owen looks like he belongs in one of the Bad Dog pictures.
  • Jennifer—He was actually just watching Sesame Street. He wasn’t upset.
  • Jeremy—Whatever that is that was up his nose doesn’t look happy about it.
  • Nancy—Awww! That photo is just great! I stuck a crayon in my belly button and my mom took me to the hospital because I wouldn’t tell her what happened, I was crying, and it was red. Kids, man.

OWEN ATE A BANANA!!!!

Owen shocked the hell out of me and asked for AND ATE a banana today. Just. like. that.

I was on the computer in the office and he was out playing his Sesame Street Xbox game and I saw that Cookie Monster was eating a banana. Owen came in to me to tell me he needed a banana. I was sure he just meant to play with it (to mimic what Cookie Monster was doing) and I said no, he didn’t need a banana.

A few minutes later: “Mom…I NEED A BANANA!” I asked if he was going to play with it or eat it—completely expecting him to say play with it—but he said EAT IT! So I said “Are you really going to eat it?” He said yes.

So we went downstairs, I started peeling it for him, handed it to him, and he took a bite like it was the most normal thing in the world and he’s been eating bananas forever. EXCEPT HE’S NEVER EATEN A BANANA IN HIS LIFE (aside from mashed when he was a baby) AND YOU KNOW HOW HE IS ABOUT TRYING NEW FOODS.

I was floored. FLOORED I TELL YOU! And perfectly giddy in my excitement—if we’re being honest.

He only ate about half of it BUT HE ATE IT! Without any coercion! Now to find videos of Cookie Monster eating some veggies!!

*As a sidenote, I really hope he continues to like them because that should help with the poop issues we’re STILL having…

Happy 4th Birthday, Owen!

Fun with leftover Lego parts!

Balloon fight with Grannie Lin!

Posing with his presents—and in his birthday shirt—for another birthday picture!

And trying to peek around me to watch TV like Owen does:

Really excited about his new Xbox Sesame Street game from Grandma Marsha and Uncle Rob:

And the guitar I found on clearance for $3 (and took the batteries out ahead of time!):

He did pretty well opening presents…except he really loved the first things he opened (Lego Cars and a Ninja Lego) so he wanted to stop right then and play but we made him keep going. 🙂 We did stop about halfway through, though, because he was losing interest and really wanted to play. Which was just fine.

One last attempt at a good Katie pic:

Look at all the bunnies!

After playing a game of Funny Bunny, Owen decided he wanted to just play with the bunnies, so he put them all on the board.

Me: Owen, which bunny wins?
Owen: ALL OF THEM!

Owen: Mama, shoot the bunnies!
Me: Gun sounds.

Resulting bunny destruction:

Owen: I’m gonna shoot all the bunnies!

Off to playgroup!

I forgot to mention…I am now part of a mom group that has weekly play dates! A sitter that I met through SitterCity invited me to join after we REALLY hit it off! I love all the moms there so I am VERY excited to be a part of it! We switch hosting duties and I offered after my first visit!

Here’s the kids before we were off for the morning. Because it was CHILLY, Katie was in a cold-weather 6m outfit…

and Owen was in his MSU jacket!

Our last Christmas!

Grauntie Marge sent Christmas gifts so we Skyped tonight to open them. The robotic bugs were a HUGE hit with Owen (and we think they’re cool, too). Here he is, showing them off:

And here we are having fun with them in the kitchen!

Katie’s Gund Peek A Boo Bear was super cute, too…though I don’t have a good picture of her with it (yet).
