She sat like this for a few minutes…hoping the box would suddenly get bigger…?!

Potato people for Gramma Jean
I had to ship something to Gramma Jean in Florida so I asked Katie if she wanted to draw a picture to send. I got an immediate and emphatic YES!! She raced to the drawing table and did this.
As she drew the first body, she says “A potato!” 🙂 Then she continued drawing and talking: “Two eyes. Two ears. Two arms.” It was so cute.
“Another potato!”
And if you look closely you’ll also see belly buttons. 🙂
Same hat and same kid: 2010 & 2016
Much, much better gala photos!
Here are the shots from the professional photographer!
For some reason I thought he was going to take an upper-body shot so I held my drink really low—but don’t ask what I was doing with the napkin in my hand but grabbing my wrist. 🙂
Oh sure, he stops us for a picture JUST after I got all bundled up to head out the door. I pulled my scarf off and was going to take my coat off but he said no, just leave it on. It would have been a great pic otherwise.

Hip hip hooray! I’m overweight today!
My “one good week” (paying attention to the core principles and five days of exercise) saw a 5.6# loss.
I had thought I had to get to 200 to be overweight, but I input my weight today (202) on the spreadsheet…and it calculated my BMI as Overweight! YIPPEE! No more Obese!
Now to keep it up! My next milestone of ONEDERLAND (a weight starting with 1xx) should happen next week!
Quick wedding photo reenactment
Since we didn’t really get a good selfie before or during the event, we tried a quick one at home.
Tom noticed our wedding photo in the background and suggested we take another and duplicate the wedding photo. It took a bit longer the second to actually get ourselves positioned where we could see the pic between us…and then I suggested I try to also duplicate the position of my hands…except it came out more like I was trying to claw his throat. 🙂
Then I thought “Hey! Wait! We have the flowers from the centerpiece!” Except they were too big.
The last attempt was the winner!
Black Tie Tribute to Wounded Warriors
Tom got invited to attend the annual AFCEA NOVA Black Tie Tribute to Wounded Warriors Valentine’s Ball so we made a date night of it!
It was a nice night—free dinner! drinks! dancing! prizes!—but I was freezing almost the whole time! The welcome reception was held right off the lobby so with the front doors constantly opening it was literally freezing in there—especially since I was wearing a summer dress and sandals with bare feet (my black tie formalwear is very limited). (It was supposed to be the coldest night of the year and it felt like it!) The ballroom was a bit warmer but heaven forbid you had to go back out to use the restroom!
They also had a station for free photos, but ours didn’t turn out that great—the photo printer wasn’t the best quality—but it’s a photo!
The dinner was actually quite tasty for hotel food, and the dessert was gorgeous…and delicious!
Our table only had one other couple, and we had a very enjoyable time visiting with them. This was their fourth time attending so they let us “win” the centerpiece (flowers and balloons) and then they actually even gave us one of their gift certificate door prizes they won! They had dancing after dinner so we got to dance to a few songs (which was good since we didn’t get any dances at the recent ball).
There was a photographer there taking TONS of pictures—including at least 3-4 of us specifically—so I can’t wait to see (and post) those.
Balloons on the way home!

Valentine’s bag…with fangs!
Bouncing birthday!
I didn’t expect weight loss to cost this much.
So, my tension-mount wedding ring is falling off and needs to be resized from a 7 to a 5.5.
We’ve known since we bought it that if it ever needed to be resized, it wouldn’t be your typical easy resize job. I remember them telling us it could be around $100. Fine. So fast forward to now when I actually need it resized and I contacted a few local recommended jewelers.
Ha.
Two places won’t even touch it because of the style, one won’t touch it because we didn’t buy it there, and one says “We can try and see what happens.” 😮
So I contacted the jeweler where we bought it and, long story short, they just informed me it can’t be resized that much [due to the style] and it will have to be remade…at a cost of $1200. TWELVE HUNDRED FUCKING DOLLARS. I can’t live with the cheapo $5 plastic sizer piece on it forever, but we can’t very well afford $1200 to fix a goddamn ring. FML.
A few people have suggested maybe it’s time to upgrade…especially because we hit 15 years this year. But I don’t really want to upgrade!! I honestly can’t imagine finding anything I like more than my ring. I still LOVELOVELOVE it after 15 years.
I knew there would be costs associated with this new body, but I honestly never thought about my ring.
