Date night face!

We were going out to a nice dinner with friends in another city so I decided to do a full face! This is how many pics I took trying to get some good new ones. Of course they aren’t all winners…but I did get some great shots.

I spent a lot of years hating how I looked and having to take 50 pics in the hopes of getting a single decent one. So it still blows my mind when I take pics and can’t pick a best one…because there are SO many good ones. Of course it helps that I have awesome anti-aging skincare and makeup products to compete the look!! 💄

I don’t often get this dressed up–and I use fake lashes even less–but it’s fun to do now and again. I considered this a dry run for formal night on our upcoming cruise… 🚢

I couldn’t decide on the best pic from the night, so here’s 16 because why not. 😍

And then to these. 🙂

Of course I had some photobombers.

But that was okay because I needed Owen to take our picture. 🙂

And the impressive before and after…showing that even plain janes can look gorgeous with a little bit of work!

Shopping for backgrounds.

I decided it was time to get some material to hang in the bathroom as a backdrop for when I do my live Facebook demos… So Heidi and I went shopping. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted—something natural like wood or stones—but there was nothing good. Or I thought I liked something but when you held it up behind you it didn’t work (the pattern was too small).

Here were the contenders. I imagine you can tell the one I decided on?

The bonus was that it was on clearance…and then when they rang it up it was half off again! So I paid $17 for four yards of fabric! And the type of fabric it is won’t show wrinkles—woohoo!!

PSL

Are you a PSL fan? I didn’t even know what that abbreviation stood for until this past weekend! 😂 Needless to say I am not a Pumpkin Spice Latte fan—and if I was, it would be a dessert and NOT a coffee…and even then I wouldn’t be thrilled with it. But a PSL lip? BRING IT ON!!

Happy 4th everyone! Even my lips are celebrating!!

It wasn’t until I was done that I realized I did it backwards—it appears as blue, white, and red instead of red, white, and blue (because I was seeing the reverse in the mirror when I was applying and didn’t even think about it). So I flipped a later photo:

And if you want to see a speedy version of the application…

As much sun as I could stand before I had to scoot my chair over.

Today was Father’s Day swim day at the water park so we all went and had a great time. Of course I didn’t manage to get one single picture of Tom or us with the kids. So this picture of me will have to suffice. 🙂

Also? Your Tip of the Day? Don’t expect to stay mostly dry if you go down a water slide in a tube with your husband. I got totally dunked, drank a bunch of water, and came up coughing up a lung. But my makeup and lipstick didn’t budge!

The kids picked their own reward for “not bothering me” when I’m working.

So last month when I was in the middle of crazy work mode trying to do umpteen things at once, I needed a way to try and keep the kids from bothering me ALL. THE. TIME. I mean yes, I still had to be around for them, but they are old enough to understand “Mom is working, you don’t need to interrupt me every 13 seconds with something stupid.” The final straw came when, one day, I was trying to watch a training video and the kids were playing near me and kept asking me things which meant I had to stop the video then rewind it—over and over. And Owen finally asked me why the lady kept repeating herself! And I had to tell them that she was NOT repeating herself—I just had to keep replaying it because they kept interrupting me.

So I came up with the Family Reward. I set a sales goal for the month and told them that if I (we!) met that goal, we got to go on a reward that they picked. So every time I was working or told them I was busy working they would know that I was working toward the FAMILY GOAL and they shouldn’t bother me. They picked McDonald’s, bowling, and video games by dad’s work. Fine, great, easy peasy. And within the first 10 minutes of showing them the page I had printed and tacked to the wall, Katie was interrupting to ask me something and Owen shushed her, pointed to the sign, and said “MOM IS WORKING!” 🙂

I managed to reach my goal before the end of the month and they made us crazy wanting to go RIGHT THEN AND THERE. But we could obviously only go on the weekends and then we had company so it didn’t work out right away. So this weekend was the first real chance we had. So it was off to base for their reward for “helping mom reach her sales goal” in April by “not bothering mom when she’s working.”

The fancy pants bowling alley lets you take a photo and put it on your scoreboard!

Katie wanted them to be judges.

I came in last place. But I didn’t get to use the bumpers. And it takes me a full game to get warmed up and we only played one game. Yeah, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

She wanted to play basketball and I begrudgingly let her—it was her reward, after all (they each for $5 in quarters for the games). And holy crap can she throw! I was helping her out, but she was making baskets! It was something to behold.

They had a great time and we are glad we did it. After, we went out and got lunch for us (we weren’t wasting calories on McDonald’s)…

Behind the scenes of Living Lippy!

Have you ever wanted to see behind the scenes? Well here you go! Today I was trying a new lipstick color (Samon) and decided to try and take some selfies with my beloved margaritas. 🍹(Side question: how on earth is there not a real margarita emoji?!)

So here are just 12 of the probably 75 I took trying to get some cool shots. As you can see, I started with freshly washed/wavy hair. Then I decided to straighten it and pull out the margarita glasses (I had to go in the very depths of the basement to get them because they are too big to store in my regular cabinets!).

Then I was chatting with a friend who lovingly chastised me for not having a full glass for realism so at 10:30 in the morning I was opening a bottle of Kirkland margaritas. See what I do for this business?! 😂 And let me tell y’all—my margarita glasses are glass and heavy and huge! As you can see from the scale—3 pounds once it’s full (I still can’t believe I didn’t spill any on myself while taking these selfies!).

And of course this morning it was windy as all hell so it was a big challenge to get a picture without any hair in my face. So now I am about to add some ice and dig into that margarita that has been tempting me since 10:30 this morning…and go out on the patio and read my book!

Cheers!

It’s my Sene-versary!

It’s my one-year Sene-versary! I had a long drawn out post but decided to just cut to the chase and say thank you to all my friends and customers over the past year. You have made this experience more than I could have hoped for and I hope it will continue throughout the years to come.

The business is doing well and I’m still having fun and am hoping to now take it to the next level! I’m rebranding and relaunching soon—its been a lot of work but I know it will all be worth it! I have been crazy busy behind the scenes trying to get my relaunch ready for this anniversary date but I didn’t quite make it. It’s waaaay more work then I’d imagined…and it doesn’t help that I also decided to participate in two huge training sessions, start using an online customer management and follow-up website, new domain and email, new shipping system, and get a logo designed all at the same time. Oh, and try to start new accounts on Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram! Phew! Any normal person would have done those things over a span of six months or so but I didn’t think any of them were that huge…so figured 1.5 months was plenty. But when added all together (and when you factor in all the minutae that pops up and problems that occur and researching errors and waiting for customer support to get back with you), I was working 8-12 hour days and staying up until 2-3am. Me, Queen of Lazy! 🙂

I’ve slowed the pace somewhat because I actually made myself sick from exhaustion—so the launch is coming, just a bit later than planned! Watch for the announcement soon! Thanks to all who have made my first year a success! 💗

When a friend asks if she can come over and play with makeup, you always say yes.

Heidi and I always manage to have a good time, and this was no different!

She’s wearing:

And then some KILLER fake lashes that I tried but were just absolutely insane on me.

Snafus + glitches = wine

This is me after yet another day of excruciatingly annoying beind-the-scenes glitches and snafus. Who knew relaunching a business would be so stressful?! 🙂

Here’s one thing I was dealing with… Are you guys ready for a laugh? I requested a cartoon avatar from a designer at Fiverr and this is what he gave me. YIKES!

He pretty much didn’t follow ANY instruction I gave him other than I’m female with dark hair holding a margarita. I honestly think he forgot about it (he was past due) and when I called him on it, he grabbed the closest clip art that matched. It’s already been refunded, but I that means I have to start all over with someone else.

And another thing? My shipping company sends out BCC tracking notifications…except I wasn’t getting them. They simply told me they were going out fine and to check with my email provider. I did my own troubleshooting with a friend, we identified where the problem was, Google customer support confirmed it, so I got to go back to the shipping company and say “No, it IS on your end.” And oh yeah, my support request doesn’t show up anywhere in their online portal and no one can figure out why. (See, one little problem after another. Eventually they discovered the issue on their end but it took a week!) I’m very thankful for my friend Tori who is basically my go-to guru for anything graphics, design, or IT…or, hell, life! 🙂 She keeps me laughing through it all.

So tonight I’m trying a blueberry wine that Lin brought back from Florida…it’s not a margarita but it’s an interesting change of pace.

Did I just make it better or worse?

When you’re trying to come up with a new color palette for your #SAHMhustle and you think “How hard can it be to pick the color of a #margarita?” and you spend hours on #Pinterest and in graphics apps playing (I mean working!) and none of them are quite right (too neon, too pale, too pastel, doesn’t go with other colors) and then you remember you have a paint color sample ring and you wonder if that just made it worse or better?! #helpme #colorpaletterabbithole #pinteresttimesuck #valspar #lowes #rebranding #suitespring #maybeishouldbedrinkingamargarita #senegence #lipsense #livinglippy
