You never know what weather you’re going to have for baseball. We’ve had perfect weather and both cool and warm days but today was downright cold (you can’t see my blanket in this photo but trust me it’s there).

For the moment, life is perfect. I’m in my egg chair. The weather is 75° with low humidity and it’s shady. Olive has stopped biting my toes and is cuddly. Any bets on how long this will last?
Exploring the deck!
Playing with Honey’s ball!
Playing in the grass! Well, chewing on something in the grass.
Now she’ll suddenly appear behind you!
Mom, I know you get super frustrated with me when I constantly bite your feet (and no one else’s) so I’m gonna fall asleep on you so you still love me.
And another nap…
We taught her to use the stairs today. But she liked chewing on them too much so they got put away!
The first time we didn’t have to shovel a path through the snow for Maggers. Cue random crying.
Please tell me mine aren’t the only ones that do this? Come home, kick off shoes, and leave door open? I did give Owen major props for bringing in the packages but c’mon boy — it’s winter. Close the damn door! (Katie does this, too. Today was just Owen!)
Today we got our first significant snow of the season. Katie was at her friend Caden’s house and his mom sent pics!
So this was what it looked like when we left this morning. Pretty…but still yuck. LOL
Tom wanted to leave early so I told him to wake me up. I expected 6am—and when he did it felt like 6. It was 8. So we didn’t leave until 9. Early. Haha. His new early is 9am. I like that.
It was super sunny and hot at baseball —with no shade of course —so I was under our tent and an umbrella!
This is the happy face of someone who got to sleep with the windows open last night, initially woke up around 5am to the smell of a pork butt on the smoker, fell back asleep until 8, and now smells something delicious coming from downstairs.
Enjoying the Yukon for the first burn of the season… Before it gets too chilly tonight and then snows later this week.
We got a bit more snow than I thought—-this is not then we’ve had all season thus far. Tom also realized he needs a bigger snowblower—-it was so deep it took him about two hours to clear the driveway and sidewalks!
She built a seat and drink holder on the side of the driveway. She also built a slide.
Not pictured: the mini snowman and the grave of the snowman that didn’t survive. I give her major points for creativity!
We got a bit of snow today so David offered to take the kids sledding. Yay!
Waiting for their ride!
We’ve been wondering when we’d start getting snow…and tonight was it. We are supposed to get 4-9″ but it has thus far stopped at about three. Hopefully there’s still enough tomorrow so they can go out for HOURS.
So this just happened. The chair was already tipped over in preparation for an expected storm last week and we just hadn’t put it back yet (so that was good) but we certainly didn’t expect this.
We know we need to replace the deck eventually but it’s not in the budget right now…so it will be a quick janky fix to last through the winter.
It snowed every so lightly this morning so I can officially play Christmas music! (But if y’all really know me you know I’ve been listening to it for awhile now.)
We had a quick rainshower and Katie always runs out to see if there’s a rainbow. There rarely is but there was today. I’m hoping it’s a sign that things are going to get better.
Then the kids went out on their bikes to look for the end of the rainbow.
We knew storms were coming (I even moved patio furniture) but then we heard the sirens! Everyone down to the basement—cats and all! Owen actually did really well for being the one who gets super freaked out about storms. I worked on getting the pantry organized and opened a bag of M&Ms as a treat for everyone. Tom was working on the bathroom toilet as we learned it’s in need of fixing. It only lasted about an hour, nothing bad happened, and then it was back to normal!
I predict we will have exactly three more of these days all year.
So it’s time to go work by the fire. And the kids are out riding bikes so it’s quiet…..
And even asked Tom to move it out to the grass for a change of scenery!!
I might have gotten sidetracked on the way there. The sun feels so good.
The snow is long gone but we are just now getting around to starting the fire.
So I knew when I woke up this morning that something was different about today because our room had a really distinct bright white light in it…which can only mean that there was snow outside on the ground. WHAT THE F, MOTHER NATURE?! Then Katie came in all excited because she thought today was going to be a lazy day—apparently she thought that since LAST Friday was a lazy day that THIS Friday was a lazy day, not realizing that last Friday was a holiday.
“BUT THERE’S SNOW OUTSIDE….” she whined.
“Yes, and in regular times, you’d still be going to school.”
I did agree that today should be a LAZIER day (because my ulterior motive was me not getting out of bed at all!)
So here it is 1pm and I just got out of bed to put my mask on and then I crawled back into bed.
Really enjoying the first (and last) nice day this week while the kids play nicely and quietly with legos on a blanket in the grass…and wondering how long it will last.
There was a mini movement on Facebook too put up holiday lights and decorations (any holiday) in order to break up the boredom and monotony and give people something to look at when they’re driving by. I’m all about the Christmas lights so Tom dug ours out and I put it up last night.
And look what’s happening now?! 😒 SERIOUSLY.
