Olive saw her first bunny in the back yard! She was interested… temporarily.

My first Father’s Day without my dad around is a little more emotional than I thought it would be. Lin sent me these pics this morning.

I still can’t believe he’s gone. I still feel guilty I wasn’t there at the end. I still can’t believe he’s not going to be there for grandparent camp. Or see his grandkids graduate high school or get married.
Hug your friends and family. You never know when might be the last time you see them.

Still happy! She stayed liked this for about a half hour!

Great weather (after the horrible heat and humidity wave we had), a nice breeze, SEATS IN THE SHADE, friends (Anna and Kelly!), good music, peanut M&Ms, a cold beverage, and a library book!

And makeup that would stay on if I dared to go swimming — I did go in up to my neck as a starter!

In and out super quick—we were the only people there! Two YES votes for #yeswths!

All that’s missing are shawls and readers (they’ll come out soon). What you can’t see: margaritas.

Olive is helping:

Kelly and I did our makeup together and I made her try all the things! She didn’t think she’d like Peacock Pearl or Tahitian Pearl Gloss…but she did.
I knew I wanted a very light and neutral eye because I was going to do a bright lip (our newest limited edition red, Blaze)…so I pulled out my new favorite (limited edition) Wind Shimmer. I don’t think it was advertised as a duochrome—but it is! You first see a frosty pearlescent white and then you see a golden shimmer. It’s gorgeous and I’ve been using it anywhere I normally use Sandstone Pearl Shimmer!

I really loved this look and I’m in love with Blaze!
Blaze has some sparkle to it for sure—it’s a bit toned down in this photo since the gloss is a thicker gloss with sparkle that covers some of the brightness. (If you’ve tried Ultra Glitter Gold, it’s similar but less gold.) But it’s really, REALLY good.

I really wanted to try our bubble machine with Olive. Thought she’d love chasing the bubbles.
Nope. This was her attitude.

And then this is what she did.

So I just took a few cute photos and was done.

We haven’t seen each other in person in about eight years, so when she was going to be in Chicago for a work convention, she just added on a few extra days to come stay here!
Unfortunately our planning failed a bit and she couldn’t get an Uber out of the city so at 4:30 we had to drive and pick her up in downtown Chicago!
We drove straight back to our favorite restaurant, Primo, for dinner with Anna and David. We had a great time…and we introduced Kelly to the deer.

Then it was back to our house for drinks and conversation! And a new friendship was forged tonight—now we just need to get Kelly to move here.

P.S. I think we look pretty good — it was a hot and crappy day and our makeup still looks spot on!
Of course she only got about 25¢ worth of stuff for her $2. But she had fun!

I’m loving getting back into reading—back in my school days I used to read a book every 2 days or so during the summer. Sometimes 2 a day depending on length and whatever else I was doing (like a road trip, camping, or day at the beach).
My goal this year was 12 books—just one a month. And I’m already on book 15! Go me!
So this is my current book—and it had great ratings—but man it’s just NOT my thing. I know I said I don’t finish books that I don’t like, but I also hate having a book unfinished in Goodreads. I managed to make it to 61% complete but I’m out.

Candy, Anna, and I were working on some Vote YesWTHS reminder postcards today and we even roped the kids into helping (and they have better handwriting than we do)!

It was very weird having the kids sign theirs “class of 2027” and “class of 2030”!!!!
I really thought Olive might like the splash pad so we waited for a hot day and… NOPE. She did not like it at all.

She did like to drink from the spray for about 3 seconds but that was it.

Olive just loves Honey SOOOO much. She gets the butt wiggles every time.

She paws at her face.

And then she’s tuckered out.

When one of us is in our egg chair, we call the other to see if we happen to be in our chairs at the same time. We rarely are. Tonight we were.!

And later…

And later (yes she still sleeps A LOT).

It had been waaay too long since we’d all been together so we went out for brunch!

She was on Anna’s lap, but still…

Katie desperately wanted to bring Olive to the baseball game…so we let her.

And then look who ended up being Olive’s bed for most of the game?

And I’m so bummed—look what I noticed!! Olive is losing her olive on her paw.

Remember this is what it used to look like:

And then since she was with us, we had to find an outdoor patio to eat lunch after baseball… She was such a good girl!

I couldn’t see her anywhere! And then… Wait.

Clean laundry? Sure I’ll sit on it.

And after we moved the shoe…
