My work buddy
She sits next to me at the table when I’m working.
Dual lap warmers
MEOW!
These two love the bean bag.
Ha! It’s not who you thought, is it? (We sold our couch in preparation for a new couch that is taking longer to arrive than we initially planned.)
Charlie’s down four teeth.
So one afternoon I noticed that the whole right side of Charlie’s face was swollen. A quick Google basically said you need to get to the vet immediately so I got an appointment for the next morning. Turns out it was something wrong with one of her teeth and we needed to schedule surgery. Estimated cost? $600-900. Just let that sink in.
The soonest opening they had was two weeks out so they gave her shots for pain and swelling. Thankfully they worked well and the swelling went down and she seemed to be getting back to normal.
Fast-forward two weeks. A tooth extraction is routine but I was still nervous. And it sucks because she seems perfectly fine now. No swelling. Eating great. Back to normal. So part of me thinks why spend $1000 on something that seems to not be a problem. But we know the problem is still there…
So…once they got in there and saw what was going on they really needed to remove some other teeth, too. She ended up having FOUR teeth removed…plus she needed extra tests and X-rays due to a heart murmur and surprise (new) kidney issues.
So $1500 later (let that one sink in, too) I have a happy kitty who doesn’t seem to be in any pain and is really loving and cuddly. (She’s always been cuddly but today has been even more so—I don’t even want to go to bed because I’m loving the cuddle so much..and also, if I’m being honest, I still have a fear that something is going to go wrong and she’s not going to make it and I’ll have missed out on this great cuddle time.)
I also got to see her drunk on pain meds. It was cute.
But this face!
Now I get to figure out how the hell to pay for this.
On the bright side, she’s not on the white blanket.
A towel…for me?
Today’s unexpected cost? Tooth extraction for a cat.
But what’s worse is the first available appointment isn’t for two weeks. 🙁
Overnight, Charlie’s one side of her face ballooned up—and she hadn’t been eating. A quick Google said it was likely an abscess. So of to the vet…where she got a shot for pain and an antibiotic (so we didn’t have to pill her) and a date to get her tooth out in two weeks.
My live video helper.
I was getting ready to do a live unboxing for my upline and had my selfie light set up on the side of the bed. (A special shoutout to Tom for creating the hanging holder last minute.)
Of course, Bella has to be right there.
That’s how I feel, too.
Thank you, Charlie, for sitting your ass right on my Virginia Tax Return. That’s how I feel, too. (I have to file a $40 return to get $15 back.)
She loves sun anywhere she can get it.
Even if it’s on our windowsill behind the dresser behind the curtains.
This is new, too.
This is new.
This is how every morning starts for me.
Who else shares a bed?! 😂 🐈 What you can’t see (or hear) is the dog under the covers snoring. She jumps in after the kids let her outside.
At least someone is using the treadmill.
Charlie finally discovered the forbidden cat food.
She would sit outside our bathroom and stare in. I watched her as she would sssslllooowwwllllyyyy move closer. And closer. Until she was right up at the food. So needless to say it was time to get an automatic feeder…
Buds.
That sneaky little shit.
So we’ve had the dry cat food (that Charlie can’t have) in our bathroom since Charlie never comes upstairs. Well look what I caught today.
I was standing there watching her and the following pics took about three minutes. So it took her about three weeks to figure out we moved the food. And now it’s time to get an automated feeder…

Vet checkup: Charlie is healthy!
Holy shitballs. Charlie had a vet checkup today and…all is fine. The doc was originally skeptical when I said we were just doing a diet change to start…so was gobsmacked to come in with the news. She said to keep doing what we’re doing!!
Nap time!
At least it’s not a kid, right?!
This is what happens every night as soon as I lay down.
Lazy animals.
How can this be comfortable?
The kids made a pillow pile then left it and of course Maggie co-opted it.
I guess it’s comfortable.
Dinner tonight…as threatened!
I’ve threatened to buy one the next time I saw an orange sticker…and today was the day! A glorious 2.28# of ribeye. Getting the sous vide ready now!
Someone is also interested…
Just sea salt, garlic powder, pepper, topped with an onion slice then cooked sous vide for five hours. Then Tom will take a torch to it to sear it!
It turned out absolutely delicious. We momentarily thought it was too rare and we going to toss it in a pan quick but we took a taste test and immediately decided it was perfect.
A brief snapshot
Apparently someone was jealous of the personal attention.
I was taking pictures of Charlie in the sun…
When this happened. You see who came over, right? With that leg in my face?
And then this.
Oh Maggie. 🙂
Apparently cat butt isn’t that bad.
So this is happening. Charlie laid down with her butt in Maggie’s face and Maggie just rolled with it.
