So they were all on the couch when I hear Owen say: “Good job, Miss Katie…you’re being gentle.” And I look over and see this:

Katie got bit!
So, Katie loves playing with Charlie. For the most part, Charlie doesn’t mind—but every once in awhile she’ll have enough and give Katie a swat (she has no claws so it’s not dangerous). Sometimes Katie stops…sometimes she doesn’t. Once in awhile Katie gets a quick nip and it shocks her but doesn’t really hurt her.
Until tonight.
She got bit HARD. At first we didn’t think too much about it but she was screaming harder and louder (and longer) than normal…so I took a peek…and saw blood. Yep, Charlie bit her hand so hard it drew blood. Poor kid. ((A day later you can still see the teeth marks and bruising.))
The cats still surprise me.
Even after 25+ years of cat ownership, it still surprises me—and makes me laugh—to find one of them like this.

Tom was Skyping with his mom and brother when Charlie jumped up and Katie just started going crazy with her. Charlie was pretty good—but you can tell she definitely wanted the attention.

A little while later he had moved. Seriously? That’s where you choose to nap? 🙂
And then waking up…a tad grouchy.

And then—of course—when I try to lie down for a minute just to rest my eyes…that’s when Katie wakes up and starts screaming. 😐

Playing School
We’ve started playing school while Katie takes her nap.
Today we had “lunch”—Owen put his fake food in the “oven” (the space under Katie’s jumper), told me to be patient while it cooked, then we shared everything—and then we did workbooks. He calls me Teacher Mom. 🙂
Then we had a visitor:
He’s pretty good at drawing lines and tracing, but completely loses interest in everything after about 15 minutes.
It’s also very frustrating trying to teach him how to hold a pencil/crayon/marker so I need to google tips on that.

Katie is 9 months old today!
She’s SUCH a good girl—I took three pictures and all of them were good! This is the first one I took (and the best of the best)! (And the outfit is from Grannie Lin!)

Tom caught this tonight. Katie got a little too close for Charlie’s comfort…and snapped at her. She didn’t harm Katie in any way…but obviously scared her into a delayed reaction.

Maggie Snores
I was busy cleaning and organizing stuff around the bedroom and thought the cats were growling at one another…but it turned out to be Maggie snoring under the covers. Wonder why I didn’t know she was even in the room…?? 🙂
Cars on our cat
Owen was playing with these Cars cars when his buddy Charlie came up and laid down next to us. I took the opportunity to stack the cars on her and she actually let me! Of course, I was stacking with one hand and had the camera in the other to make sure I got the photo op! Owen was having a blast handing me the cars and watching me. Unbelievably, he knocked them all off before she got fed up and left!

- Jennifer Hudson has learned that Maggie can open the screen door to let herself in if you don’t do it in time.
- Jennifer Hudson really wishes people would pick up after their kids at the park. This is not your personal trash can.
- Jennifer Hudson Finally. After almost nine years I have a wedding album!
- Jennifer Hudson hates when I FINALLY decide to buy something online because I can’t find it locally…then two days later I find it locally…on clearance.
- Jennifer Hudson has cut the 750+ photos from this weekend down to 333 on the first run through.
- Jennifer Hudson is exhausted. Owen decided not to sleep last night, and instead scream every time we put him down. I ended up in the rocking chair with him—he slept, I didn’t.
- Jennifer Hudson just took 600+ pictures of Owen in his pool with his new garage-sale slide. Sooooo much fun!
- Jennifer Hudson is having a hard time reconciling Mr. Noodle being the creepy serial killer on CSI.
- Jennifer Hudson just saw this response to a news article: “It just babbles my mind.” I’m not sure whether to laugh or be dumbfounded at the stupidity.
- Jennifer Hudson just heard a loud clunk from upstairs–which means the little man is up and tossed the wipes off the dresser.
- Jennifer Hudson is bummed that 1) LOST is over and 2) they ended it like they did. But mostly #1.
- Jennifer Hudson knows road work has to be done, but I hate living in the middle of it—our main intersection is predicted to be janked through November and our neighborhood until August. BOOOOOOOO!
- Jennifer Hudson had the king-sized bed covered with three cat-puke-prevention towels while we were gone…and the damn cat managed to barf in the 1/2″ seam where there was no towel.
- Jennifer Hudson needs another Margarita.
- Jennifer Hudson had a dream about John Casey last night. IBIMB.
- Jennifer Hudson has a crankopotamus for a kid today.
- Jennifer Hudson just bruised her arm and almost threw out her back trying to open a >:XX window. I hate this house sometimes.
- Jennifer Hudson is being driven absolutely insane by our exceedingly intermittent internet connection.
- Jennifer Hudson thinks the toddler shoe aisle is the mist frustrating place. Nothing in the right place, single shoes everywhere, shoes in wrong boxes. I hate people who disrupt aisles like that.
- Jennifer Hudson 1) Harleys should NOT be allowed to run before 7am. Hell, 6am. Thank you SO much, neighbor. At least I finally fell back to sleep. 2) Stepping in cat vomit is NOT a good way to start the morning, especially when you’re carring a kid. 3) M-O-N-S-T-E-R-C-L-U-B-HOUSE.

It is currently 4:15am as I write this.
Yes, 4:15. >:XX
Owen decided he was hungry at about 2am, which meant I was up until just after 3am.
And then I had to pump, which I did in semi-darkness to stay sleepy.
But then I wasn’t really tired, so my mind wandered to some things I needed to remember to do today, so I turned on my phone and emailed myself some reminders. I thought that would be enough and my mind would be clear so I could fall asleep.
Then Bella decided to puke, so I got up to clean that…because the last thing I want to do in the morning is step in wet cat puke unexpectedly.
And then since I was up, I thought “Well, I will just go downstairs real quick and grab a protein shake since I am suddenly hungry.” (This often happens after I get up with the kid, although the need for sleep usually outweighs the need for sustenance.)
So I was doing everything in the dark to try and keep me sedate, so I didn’t really wake up too much.
And once I was downstairs, Bella threw up again. Which, obviously, necessitated turning on lights to clean it up.
So now I was really quite fully awake.

So decided to check my email and do a few things I had been thinking about (that I didn’t email myself reminders for).
And now it’s 4:15. Well, 4:20 since I’ve been typing steadily for five minutes.
I really do need to try and get back to bed because Owen will surely be crying for me about 6 or 6:30 if the past few days have been any indicator.
At least Grandpa Mike and Grandma Linda will be here later this afternoon and I might be able to catch a nap…
