Somehow he’s forgotten to count. 🙂
Who’s in the mirror?
He plays with his cars anywhere and everywhere.
I got him a real Cars tractor. It makes noise and everything.
I asked Owen to smile with his new tractor:

Owen was just waking up for his nap, when I gave him a new Matchbox tractor…
Owen has two identical Doc Hudson cars, and yesterday he declared they were friends. Today he has started calling them “good friends.”
🙂
He wanted to go outside for bubbles, and since it was fairly nice out (considering), I cleaned out his water table, put the slide together, and let him play. Of course, pretty much as soon as I had the slide up, he was on it!

As soon as I was done filling his table with water, he pointed to the hose, said “Hose. Water” and then made the sign for more.

And this was him hiding when I was trying to spray him with the hose!

I finally figured out how to connect ALL the pieces of Owen’s train tracks, and it made a tunnel. He hadn’t seen it because I did it after he went to bed…but he noticed it as soon as he came downstairs! And he knew it was a tunnel!
Yes, Tom and I decided to spoil Owen just a little more and get him his own car. A Dodge Charger Police Cruiser to be exact. He loved the little Toy Story-themed car at Walmart so much, we thought he would just die when he saw this one. As you will see, he was excited to see a car…but was almost more excited with his pool. Toddlers!
When we finally got him back to the car (he kept running back and forth between the pool and the car), Tom tried to show him how it moved…but since it wasn’t a constant pressure and a smooth movement, the noise and jerkiness freaked him out a bit and he was DONE!
Then he came back over to explore it more. He loved playing with the wheels and the mirrors.
Loving his car!
Having more fun (and getting more comfortable) with his car!
He loves dunking his face in the bubbles!
Today was the first nice day of the year—55 and sunny—so Owen and I went outside to play! The first time we went out, Owen was excited to see THREE trucks come by—the garbage truck, the mail truck, and the FedEx truck! When the FedEx truck went by, he said “X! F!” 🙂 He also enjoyed splashing in the puddles.
After lunch, when it was about time for Tom to come home, we went out again. This time there was much more splashing!
He did not want to go inside—he apparently now remembers how fun it is to be outside—so we went out to the porch while the grill heated up for dinner. He wanted to play with Maggie’s toy…but she wanted the toy more, so she knocked him down trying to get it. He had a fit until I went downstairs and brought up this toy from last summer. You should have seen his face when he saw it—so happy!
Owen has discovered that if he dunks his face into the water/bubbles, they stick to his face! Then he gets some in his mouth and realizes they don’t taste good. Lather, rinse, repeat. 🙂
Since Tom had the day off, we took Owen to the community center pool. At first he didn’t really want anything to do with it—not even when we gave him a ball. But after about 30 minutes he started loving it, and we ended up staying for almost two hours. Here he is shooting hoops with Tom’s help…
Owen pretends everything is a phone these days…
We let Owen open this gift tonight, and he LOVED it. (He had it before, but it met an untimely death with a dunk in a water bowl.) He just can’t stop playing with the letters and saying what each of them is—and each one is just SO exciting!
He loooooooves this bucket now. I keep all his balls in it, and he’ll come down from his nap, toss out every single ball, then hop in and just sit there, or watch TV from there. Thanks, Grandma Marsha!

He also likes getting pulled around the floor in it…and then Tom picked him up and carried him around, then gave him a bumpy ride!
This is how Owen looked for most of the trip—his lap piled full of toys while watching a DVD of Monsters, Inc.
If you listen closely you’ll hear him counting. I think he starts from 7 and goes to 10. Also if you listen really closely you’ll hear him fart—which is why I laugh.
Grandpa Mike got him to do this the other week, but I showed him again today—and actually got it on film!
I bought this many months ago when it was on sale at Target, and it’s been waiting in the basement. I was getting ready to give it to him and had it sitting on the island in the kitchen…when he walked by and saw it, so reached up to get it! Stinker!
Since he LOVES stacking (see the Crayon video from earlier today), he loves this set. He also loves the “ball” on the top of one of the columns.
You just NEVER know what he will find funny…
Owen loves balls—we all know that. And he always seems to want balls that aren’t his, even though he has a ton of his own. Just this afternoon, he saw a soccer ball in our neighbor’s yard and made a beeline for it. She let us borrow it for awhile. Last week, he was immediately attracted to some lady’s volleyball at the park (and when we went back the next day, went right to where she HAD been sitting to look for it again).
So when I was in Target, I got him his own soccer ball. And we decided to give it to him as he was waking up from his nap. Watch, and enjoy!
Owen knows what “outside” means—I said “Let’s go outside!” and he ran
to the sliding door! What you will see here is just a tiny slice of what I get to watch on a daily basis…balls, his pool, tomatoes as balls, trying to put a tomato back on the plant, his rake, and a measuring cup.
And taking a break with mom…
