Finger painting at school!

When we got back from the field trip, Katie got to create her artwork folder…which necessitated finger painting. She had a blast! And I’m glad she gets to do it at school because the thought of that mess at home makes me cry. 🙂

Then we saw Owen coming back from recess:

And just because there wasn’t already enough paint…another color!

And then I made the mistake of telling her to make a handprint. Well, she smacked her hand down and this happened (except about four times as many dots):

Anne (our friend who works in Katie’s class) assured me it was washable, but when a baby wipe—generally known to clean most anything—didn’t work, I got concerned. I found the label:

You see that? Washes out of most surfaces and fabrics. Egads. Of course that would be my luck with my brand new coat. (That said, I washed it as soon as I got home and thankfully it did come out.)

And the final product! I can’t wait to see the finished (dried) folder they make out of it!

This little boy in his old-timey cap just cracked me up. I love this pic—they look like an old married couple being forced to sit for a photo. 🙂

Shoe shopping!

I decided to keep the Le Tote pants! And I wanted to find shoes to go with them so I wore them again today to go shoe shopping!

I had asked my friends for assistance in picking the style shoe, so was consequently on the hunt for ballet flats. I was unsure because I didn’t think any of them had any support—and I need the support for my back!—and I’m at the age where comfort outranks fashion. But fortunately I found six pair to decide between—then narrowed it down to four:

Then two ($60 Born and $40 Life Stride on clearance):

I really wanted the Born because they were buttery soft and very comfy (and came highly recommended)…but the others were almost as comfy and a slightly truer black. And $20 cheaper. 🙂

Katie loves trying on shoes so she was helping! (In a new dress from Grannie Lin!)

So my trip was a double success—I found the style shoes I set out to find AND I came home with only that one pair!

After I picked Katie up today, we stayed at the school since Owen had an after school sports program and needed to be picked up at 5:15 (and it was so nice we planned to play on the playground). She had to go potty so we went in and then ended up going to Katie’s pre-K room so she could show it to me.

Her job this week.
Me: Katie, what does the straw helper do?
Katie: We put straws in cups!

“Look! TWO dollhouses! TWO!”

And then it was back outside to the playground.

Owen’s sneaky plan to get a Lego.

We got home from dinner and Owen had been working on this plan to get a Lego. 🙂

Translation:

Secret way to get in the mall to get ultimate clay Lego stand. First tiptoe into the mall. 2 go in the employee entrance. 3. Sneak in the mall go straight to the Lego store. 4. Take a head lamp and a pen and point the pen at his belly and he will knock him out and get the ultimate clay.

Owen saw a cow at school!

Owen came home telling us they saw a cow in a truck at school today! We did get a few more details, but I’ll let the Facebook photos (that were posted this evening) tell the story instead. 🙂

We had a great morning at Halley when Sally the Jersey cow and the Mobile Dairy Classroom visited Halley to teach us a little bit about our food sources. The students were very excited to learn more about raising cows and even got to see a milking demonstration, provided by Instructor Amanda Griffith! The students asked great questions and learned a lot together! 🙂
