Owen, where’s your diaper?

So I had left off Owen’s PJ bottoms since I had anticipated potty training activities today and wanted it to be as easy as possible. After the tantrum, I just left them off.

So imagine my surprise when I came upstairs with his pre-nap snack…and saw his diaper on the couch next to him! He was just sitting there watching TV.

WHAT?

Yeah, it’s the first time he’s EVER taken off his diaper!

So of course I proceeded to put that diaper RIGHT BACK ON. Lordy. I hope it doesn’t become a habit!

Owen is a rock star!

Owen is such a rock star when it comes to going out and about.

  • First, he loves car rides, and always asks for a car ride, so running errands is no big deal.
  • Second, he usually takes cars with him, so if he’s not in the cart, he’s playing on the shelves with his cars.
  • Third, when I say “Owen, follow me please / Pick up your cars / I’m walking away, come here please” — he does.
  • Fourth, when he’s sitting in the cart (usually in the basket, not the kid seat) he’s just so happy looking around and doesn’t mind me packing in stuff around him.
  • Fifth, he doesn’t get cranky when he’s looking at/playing with something and I make him move on.

We just got home from two hours of errands and it was no. big. deal.

More words…and short sentences!

I think he’s still technically behind in speech, but he’s continually progressing so we’re not worried. Here are the latest words…which brings us to about 328 total (and of course, I’m sure I’m still missing some)!

Playing outside–finally!

He wanted to go outside for bubbles, and since it was fairly nice out (considering), I cleaned out his water table, put the slide together, and let him play. Of course, pretty much as soon as I had the slide up, he was on it!

As soon as I was done filling his table with water, he pointed to the hose, said “Hose. Water” and then made the sign for more.

And this was him hiding when I was trying to spray him with the hose!

Smart kid!

Typically in the morning, we give Owen a snack (granola bar) and a juice, then we eat breakfast an hour to an hour and a half after he gets up. Sometimes (rarely) we just skip the snack and eat breakfast a bit earlier. We just used to give him the snack, but lately he’s started asking for it.

So this morning, I decide we will eat breakfast early, and this is what happened:

Owen: Snacks! Snacks!
Me: No, it’s time for breakfast.
Owen: SNACKS! SNACKS!
Me: Okay. [Hand him a granola bar.]
Owen: [Finishes the bar in about two minutes.] Breakfast!

Scammer. 🙂

Owen vs. The Sprinkler

Aunt Rose bought him this cool water toy awhile back, but we left it in the package so it would be a special treat once we moved. Well, he keeps seeing it and getting super excited..so we finally got it out…and it kinda freaked him out. 🙂 He wasn’t too sure what to think of it…and he’s still not sure but he did have some fun with it.
