Owen put his underwear on Katie’s head and it was a laugh riot for at least five full minutes.
“Color your own masks” from the dollar store.
Attack of the ants.
The kids woke me up to tell me there were ants all over the floor. I was a bit groggy, but…WHAT?!
Yep, they were right.
I have NO idea how pieces of Maggie’s food got over there or why all the ants suddenly bombarded us (it seems there are always random bits of food somewhere and we’ve never had ants yet) so out came the Taro.
Someone is ready for gymnastics tomorrow.

Owen came upstairs to tell me that Katie was being rude. She wanted a gem from his Lego set and he said no:
She called me a rat and it wrinkled my heart.
Tom: Katie, do you want to watch TV?
Katie: Yes, because Murray has a little lamb.
Katie: Mama, do the tickling thing again, where I was laughing.
We were in the car headed to the park.
Owen: Mom! Did you see that?
Me: What?
Owen: It was like a bird but it was metal or plastic. And birds aren’t made of metal or plastic. Birds are made of…birds!
Katie: No, birds are made of feathers.
Sleeping Beauties
Katie taking a break.
We were at the park and Katie was taking a break because some little girl didn’t want to play with her.
Long story short, she ended up getting a book from someone and she just thought it was THE greatest thing. “Mama! It’s got words in it! And pictures!” 🙂 And I just love this picture.
And a selfie because why not?
No drama yet today so they get a picnic for lunch!
Costco Running
Threenager Katie being exhausting.
Tom wonders why Katie drives me insane some days. Here’s a sample from just today, all between 4:35 and 4:56. And these are just the ones I took videos of. Some days I get this all day long, just spread out over the whole day. It’s EXHAUSTING. And frustrating. And maddening. Enjoy!
And a great screenshot from the video:

Boosterthon Fun Run Success!
Owen did AMAZING! They had two tracks running at the same time—Kindergarten and 1st grades on one and 2nd and 3rd on the other. The VIPs (parents, family, etc.) were in the center of each ring to cheer them on. Of course, Owen was on the outside of the track almost every time (which also meant that other kids were blocking my view) so I didn’t get many good pictures of him. I had been wondering how they were going to keep track of laps run, but the kids all had Boosterthon T-shirts with boxes on the back so every time they crossed the starting line, they had teachers and volunteers marking off boxes. Owen completed…ALL 35 POSSIBLE LAPS!! For a total pledge donation amount of…$390!! We are SOOOOO proud of him!! (The only slightly disappointing thing [for me] was at the end of the event—the kids got to take a “victory lap” with family and friends so Katie and I rushed out to walk with Owen…and he didn’t want anything to do with it and just went off on his own. I swear he’s 7-going-on-14.) If the amounts on the website can be trusted, the school hit 99% of their goal…which means the kids get the technology updates AND the playground equipment!!!
Tom wasn’t able to make it to the fun run, but Katie and I were there! Of course, she was pouting about something (I can’t even remember what since it happens so often).
Owen’s class coming onto the field.
National anthem.
Can you see Owen? (Hint in next pic.)
They had theme laps like clapping, walk with a friend, and slow-motion. This was the kangaroo lap (his favorite). 🙂
He started with the headband on, then it came off pretty quickly, and here it’s back again.
It came off again soon after.
Katie was an awesome cheerleader for Owen and all our other friends!
Westin, a kindergarten friend (we ate at their house for Thanksgiving).
Our across-the-street neighbors.
Owen and Colton (he was in his class last year and is on his baseball team this year) running together.
They had music playing the entire time so Katie did a lot of dancing!
Hazel, our kindergarten neighbor.
More dancing!

And the attempted class picture afterwards:
Since it was the end of the day, we went back to Owen’s classroom to take him home. This was the class goal sheet. I love to see the order of importance. 🙂

Two photos that sum up my day.
Katie was a little shit most of the day. And THEN I discovered this:
What is that you ask? SHE SCRATCHED THE HELL OUT OF THE IPAD WITH A ROCK. (Breathe. Breathe.) WHAT THE HELL?! Needless to say she lost all iPad privileges for at least a week. Luckily it’s just the screen protector that is scratched—the actual iPad glass is fine. But still.
So, after the day I had, this was my dinner:
