Revisiting Scream

Omg y’all. We watched the original 1996 Scream tonight because Katie has been saying she wants to watch horror movies.

This was the first movie Tom and I saw together in the theater so we wanted to see how it held up. Of course we didn’t remember how bloody it really was… Owen bowed out after the first few scenes saying he didn’t like scary movies. Katie freaking loved it and now wants to watch the rest of the series. (I hadn’t kept track and there are six!)

I’m not a fan of horror/slasher films (I’ve never had any desire to see any of the Freddy/Jason franchises) so we’ll see what happens next.

I’m feeling murderous right now.

I left a cabinet open and somehow the dogs got into a bag AND a box and…Katie just found this.

This is what it originally looked like:

It’s just a ‘thing’ so it probably shouldn’t bother me as much as it did—but it was one of my souvenirs from the week I spent with my mom at Pysanky On The River last year and I met the artist (Theresa Somerset, who is amazing) and she had so many beautiful eggs that it took awhile for me to decide and pick this one… And it was expensive and can’t be replaced (I asked).

Stupid dogs.

And just like that we have a high schooler.

Owen volunteered to play in the jazz band before his promotion ceremony!

I love that he was able to walk with his good friend Lucas…

And Anna (as school board president) was able to give him his diploma!

And then it was off to our celebratory dinner at The Chocolate Sanctuary because it’s closing soon! Of course I forgot to get a photo of our whole group but I did get a picture of my chocolate strawberry martini!

A night at Great Wolf Lodge

I told the kids that if I ever got a decent deal I’d take them. So… Friday was the day. And they each got to invite a friend. Tom stayed home with the dogs and Anna came with me!

Aaand totally unlike me, I didn’t take a single photo the entire day/night… except one of Anna asleep at 8:03!

But the next morning after Owen left for his baseball game, the remaining three did the ropes course!

Getting higher!

Oh college…good times.

I ran across this photo from college this morning and showed it to Katie. She did NOT believe it was me. She kept looking back and forth from me to the photo like HUH? WHAT? and I assured her it was indeed me.

What I didn’t tell her (but will later — she was running behind for school) is that this was NOT my normal look. This was after my roommate Angi plucked my brows (for the first time ever!) and put some “more involved” makeup on me.

I remember being in sweatpants and was like “Well now we need to go out somewhere!” but it was like a Tuesday night or something.

Katie REALLY wants a cat.

I found this note on her door this morning.

Felix is at PetSmart and has been there for longer than normal. She knows I’d love an orange tabby…so she keeps trying to convince me.

But unfortunately it’s just not gonna happen. He’s not declawed. Tom is allergic and doesn’t want to take meds every day (again). I’m leery of adding a cat to two dogs. And I’ve fully enjoyed no more litter duty.

Oh Ivy… that’s not a toy.

Sooooo Ivy just brought a baby rabbit into the house…in her teeth. It wasn’t quite dead…so Tom had to kill it. Katie was a mess. Poor Ivy, I’m sure, just thought it was a toy.

We went outside to look for more (just in case) and Tom found the nest (and another bunny). As he was moving it outside the fence (to be near where we saw the mama bunny), I almost stepped on this one hiding in the grass.

We relocated that one, too.
