Hubby made me a frozen strawberry basil margarita. It’s…odd. It’s not bad, but I can’t reconcile the Italian basil profile with the strawberry marg profile. I probably wouldn’t do it again…but I’m not complaining!

Great weather (after the horrible heat and humidity wave we had), a nice breeze, SEATS IN THE SHADE, friends (Anna and Kelly!), good music, peanut M&Ms, a cold beverage, and a library book!
And makeup that would stay on if I dared to go swimming — I did go in up to my neck as a starter!
Candy, Anna, and I were working on some Vote YesWTHS reminder postcards today and we even roped the kids into helping (and they have better handwriting than we do)!
It was very weird having the kids sign theirs “class of 2027” and “class of 2030”!!!!
She was on Anna’s lap, but still…
Road trip + no devices = napping kids
I’m glad they’re taking care of it, but 1) it wasn’t that bad to start with and 2) they really made a huge mess out of our driveway.
I can’t imagine what they’re going to do to fix it. The whole thing looks like this.
Just shoot me. I am in my own personal hell today. A full park. No seats anywhere—let alone in the shade. So I’m stuck in a tiny sliver of shade on a steep hill so that I’m constantly sliding down. And there are ants.
Our welcoming committee (Katie) was dressed and out waiting a good 15 minutes before guests were supposed to arrive!
I apparently don’t know how to make food for less than 30 people.
It was a BBQ so Tom did pulled pork (which requires cole slaw since we lived in North Carolina for eight years), baked beans, and cornbread. Then we added three flavors of smoked cream cheese with three types of crackers, pea and peanut salad, peanuts, cashews, fresh fruit and chips for the kiddos, and someone brought the veggie tray (and desserts which aren’t in the photo).
Basically an empty park (there might be 30 guests here and that’s being generous—I’ve counted who I can see and it’s less than 30), perfect weather for me not going in the pool (it’s a measly 70°!), good music, a new book, and kids leaving me alone… I just wish they served margaritas!
We finally have enough usage history to prove that we need the extra panels…
Oh HELL no, dear Katie. Keep your crap contained to your own room!
Tom started the install of my pull out drawers for the Tupperware cabinet on March 20. Unfortunately he wasn’t happy with how one drawer was sliding so said he’d fix it—so I left all the contents on the island. Fast forward a week and he tells me it’s fine and I can put everything away. Men!
And somehow we’re missing the bottoms to ALL of these since the kids last fixed the cabinet. Imagine that. Noone has any idea. So either they’re lying about what they did the last time or they’ve managed to lose 11 bottoms in two weeks.
Proof you can get just about anything on Amazon.
As my bestie Anna said when she found this at our local consignment shop—this is the most Jen shirt to have ever Jenned.
We used what we had on hand: butter, brown sugar, and caramelized pancetta with a maple syrup drizzle.
Oh. My. Gawd.
Imagine my surprise when I was out on my walk and saw this!
The three musketeers.
Just the girls!
This is what my kids considered “picked up” before the housekeepers got here.
Anna and I had gone to the store for ice cream last night after the band concert and saw they had some liquor on clearance. I bought three bottles—two of which were just to try (because they were so cheap) but one vodka that we were sure we’d like. Well…after trying it…we decided we needed to go back for more. Or, rather, the rest. So this was our cart tonight.
So what vodka is it? Smirnoff Red, White & Berry! It mixes great with pop and it will be amazing in Jello shots!
She (he? It?) let me know we’ve done 42 cycles during the past month. I’ve never known how many loads of laundry we do a month until now. I would have guessed fewer to be honest.
We were having friends over for dinner so Tom decided to do ribs. It smelled so good all day!
The first time we didn’t have to shovel a path through the snow for Maggers. Cue random crying.
