My first maternity clothes.

Well, so much for there being a lot of choice here in the big city. (Granted, I am not looking at high end stores, because we can’t afford that.)

I searched out Motherhood Maternity Plus stores, and was excited about going…I was thrilled that there would be a whole store of plus-sized clothes to choose from!

How wrong I was.

It’s just a regular store with a plus-sized SECTION. And a pathetic section, at that.

Seriously, there were like three racks out of the entire store, and half of it was clearance summer stuff. >:XX We did travel about 6 miles farther to go to a second store, where they did have a few more racks, but still nothing to write home about.

The prices weren’t TOO horribly awful, but I still had a hard time spending $50 on a sweater. And I just hope any future weight gain is in my stomach, and not in the legs or butt—because the jeans (the largest size they carry) just fit.

They do have quite a bit more online, so that’s where I will probably end up shopping if I have to. But in the meantime, I need to search out other maternity stores and hopefully find a few more pieces, otherwise I will be wearing the same two sweaters, two tops, and two pair of jeans for the next three months.

  1. Shopping for maternity clothes was one of my least favorite things about being pregnant. That includes bras. As you saw, there is a very small selection, they cost too much and you may not even wear them again if any subsequent pregnancies are in different “seasons.” Target has a few racks, but again, very limited. Ebay may be a good place- Some people sell all of their maternity clothes in one huge batch.
    Good luck with the shopping!
