I had him draw on the back side of one of his puzzles. He thought that was awesome.
It’s been a while since I let her do this.
Owen’s first Pokemon gym!
I Â didn’t think this attitute would come around until much, much later.
Owen (out of nowhere) in a perfectly normal voice: I have to clean up my room.
Me: Okay.
Owen, in an 80% snotty tone: I guess I have like three seconds to do it. Hmph.
Me: ?????
Owen: I guess I hvae to go do it right now.
Me: If you want to.
Then he stomped off upstairs.
What?! When did he turn into a teenager?

Thanks for sharing one of your last nights with us.
Katie can do this puzzle all on her own now…
I can finally wear my wedding ring again—oh, happy day!Â
Now THAT’S more like it. It’s an ever-so-slightly different shape and thickness (I can definitely tell it’s lighter) but it’s 99.8% perfect and I can live with that! I just wish they would have done this the first time instead of stressing me out with their first attempt…
They were spoiled at the dentist today.Â
They got their cleanings done in the procedure room because it wasn’t being used…so they got a TV on the ceiling!
Katie is still a much better patient than Owen. He freaks out at the smallest thing—he said the hygienist’s rotating toothbrush hurt and then he was throwing a mini fit because he doesn’t like the taste/feel of the flouride treatment—he was whining a little and needed four glasses of water and looked like he was going to be sick; Katie just goes on like nothing even happened. 🙂
Apparently I had Anna braids all day and didn’t even realize it.
Shark PJs then and now.Â
This is new.Â
All three of us worked on this puzzle today.Â
One of these things is not like the other.Â
My full vacation stash.Â
Happy accident of the day!
Wow. They both wanted daddy cuddles.Â
They’re back to normal.Â
Ahhh. Back at the pool.Â
After the insanely hot weather lately, the pool is FINALLY at a temperature in which I will actually get in and stay in for a bit—85°! And maybe because it was almost 100° and the sun was blazing hot and a quick dip only kept me cooled off for maybe 10 minutes. So I got in the pool and floated around with the kids.
Does anyone else think she looks like Izzy here? That’s all I can see.
New friends (a 1st grade teacher I think I mentioned earlier in the summer).
Our neighbors and new friends, Kayleigh and her mom Julie (Julie was our house/cat sitter while we were on vacation).
Then I let Katie have her turn with the camera (since she didn’t get a turn the last time). She actually did pretty well overall, getting more usable ones than I’d predicted.
She did get her finger in quite a few. 🙂
The first thing Katie did when we got home.Â
If you take a mouse on vacation…
She has the best seat in the house.
I have a lap buddy for this leg of the trip. Normally we’d never do this (and never have) but it’s crazy hot and even with the A/C on she doesn’t get much circulation tucked into the back in her crate. So she now has the best seat in the house.
And then of course she had to move into the sun.
Spoiled girl.
Pretend driving lessons
Kidisms 29
We were on a walk and saw 100 dog poop!
Katie, seeing a caboose on the side of the road: There’s a train bottom!
Katie and Gramma Jean were playing hide and seek. Gramma jumped out and scared her.
Katie: Ah! You scared my feelings!
Katie, with a water bottle: I’m pretending this is dia co.
Me: What is it?
Katie: Dia co. Like daddy.
Me: You mean what daddy drinks? Diet Coke?
Katie: Ahhh! I thought it was dia co!
Saying goodbye to Uncle Rob
Owen finally gets on the swing!
Owen doesn’t have the best balance or coordination—and doesn’t really like swings—so we didn’t have much success getting him on the rope swing. Until Gramma Jean got involved while we weren’t around, apparently.
And that was it. I tried to get him on it again but he’s just a big goofball and immediately falls off.
