I wasn’t sure what nails I wanted today…and then as I was driving there I saw the five swatches on my hand and thought they’d be perfect!

I wasn’t sure what nails I wanted today…and then as I was driving there I saw the five swatches on my hand and thought they’d be perfect!
So today is my daughter’s 10th birthday which means a pool party at our local community pool this afternoon…so you bet your ass I put on a full face of makeup!
Why?
Because in addition to looking fabulous for the party, I can honestly say I’ve never gotten sunburn on my face wearing this skincare and makeup! (And y’all know I hate wearing additional sunscreen, so when I plan to stay out of the sun, I just rely on my makeup to protect me. If I’m actually PLANNING to stay in the sun, I’ll add our sunscreen!)
And then this happened while I was taking my selfies… Hubby photobombed me with Olive.
2022 Summer Makeup Trend — Monochromatic Makeup Looks!
Great weather (after the horrible heat and humidity wave we had), a nice breeze, SEATS IN THE SHADE, friends (Anna and Kelly!), good music, peanut M&Ms, a cold beverage, and a library book!
And makeup that would stay on if I dared to go swimming — I did go in up to my neck as a starter!
Kelly and I did our makeup together and I made her try all the things! She didn’t think she’d like Peacock Pearl or Tahitian Pearl Gloss…but she did.
I knew I wanted a very light and neutral eye because I was going to do a bright lip (our newest limited edition red, Blaze)…so I pulled out my new favorite (limited edition) Wind Shimmer. I don’t think it was advertised as a duochrome—but it is! You first see a frosty pearlescent white and then you see a golden shimmer. It’s gorgeous and I’ve been using it anywhere I normally use Sandstone Pearl Shimmer!
I really loved this look and I’m in love with Blaze!
Blaze has some sparkle to it for sure—it’s a bit toned down in this photo since the gloss is a thicker gloss with sparkle that covers some of the brightness. (If you’ve tried Ultra Glitter Gold, it’s similar but less gold.) But it’s really, REALLY good.
Trying to get some computer work done with Olive crying at my feet so I had to do this.
Y’all have seen my avatar by now, I assume, since she’s been around since 2018.
Well, I figured four years was long enough to use the el cheapo Fiverr look (which I did love)…so when my friend Joyanne offered to design something new for me as practice for her new business, I jumped at the chance!
And I’m in love! I mean, who doesn’t want to look like a Disney princess?! And of course I still have my trademark margarita…but my hair is shorter and I’ve got a cardigan now (and I’m not quite as slim as I was back then). And yes, the margarita is a more realistic appropriate size!
That said, part of me is sad to give up the old me because it has memories…but we all need to grow and evolve…so in with the new!
First time in a crate going to her first vet appointment…and chewing on the crate.
Trying to work with a sleepy puppy.
Today I’m giving some love to some shadow colors that I rarely use…but that are surprisingly good!
From the permanent line, Mulberry ShadowSense! From the Limited Edition colors, Fiery Coral Shimmer and Wind Shimmer ShadowSense!
They looked a little crazy together on my hand but once they blended together it looked great! And over overlooked Wind Shimmer for way too long—it’s amazing. I’d use it in place of Sandstone Pearl Shimmer in a heartbeat and it has a little bit of duochrome-ality to it!
OMGGGGGGG!!! I casually mentioned to a client that anytime she wanted to bring me a bouquet of lilacs…
And look what appeared on my porch today?!
My kitchen smells sooooo good!
I haven’t done a red lip in awhile so decided this was the day. I pulled out Brick which OMGWTFBBQ!! is sooooooo good and I always forget it. It’s not super bright red so it’s a little less scary, plus it has glitter in it!
So then I had to do a nice subtle eye—and I am loving Fairy Dust Shimmer with Champagne Pearl Shimmer. It’s the first time I tried it and I’ll definitely be doing it again! (It’s another Limited Edition and I do have a few on hand!)
It did feel like a tiny bit much for an afternoon kid baseball game but who says you can’t look stunning for that?
Who’d have thought I’d look younger (better!) at age 48 than at 44? Anti-aging skincare and makeup? Yes please and thank you very much.
Also? Way more personal confidence, makeup application confidence, and business confidence.
Also? I just had one of my top five sales months while celebrating my fifth year with SeneGence.
Can I get a whoop whoop?!
I started using the Dry line on October 27, which puts me at just over five months so far for the evening moisturizer…and I just moved the last of it into the pump bottle which means I have at least another month or two! And honestly there’s probably 2-3 days worth left in the original jar!
If I may toot my own horn just a little bit…these are the THREE awards I received during Seminar!
The first was at the dominion awards night (Friday). Technically I don’t belong to this group but the crown princess has adopted me. This is a separate event for just the ladies in the group. Since I’m adopted, my actual numbers don’t show up in her info, but she has a lot of adoptees in her group so she did a Top 10 of everyone…
I was #6 in total sales out of the 6,000+ distributors across the whole group.
The big awards were the next night in front of the entire seminar crowd! Certain awards have you walk across the stage…so had I been there, I’d have gotten to go up twice:
Significant SeneSeller means I sold a minimum of $1500 a month, each month, for the entire year.
Inner Circle Personal Volume is what I’ve sold during the year — and I was #67 out of all distributors in the United States!
And these are the ladies I’d have been standing with:
Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the past five years—whether you made a purchase, liked a post, left a review, talked about LipSense to a friend, helped me brainstorm, posted a selfie, watched a demo, or anything else! I couldn’t have done ANY of this without you!
And if you want to celebrate with me and get some freebies, I can hook you up this month!
As soon as I saw free tickets for Bon Jovi, I had to get them. I mean Bon Jovi WAS high school. And I know there’s been some stuff since then that I’ve liked. And I’m still trying to do more things outside my box.
But let me say right up front that even though this was a bucket list concert, I was not impressed. /cry
From now on, I’m checking the setlist FIRST. I only knew like 1/3 of the songs! And his voice wasn’t great—plus the sound system seemed off and it was like he was screaming to be heard over the music. And holy hell the people that want to stand for the whole damn thing (I know this argument can go on forever). Ughhhh. But then, maybe I’m just old and cranky. But to be honest it wasn’t just me. We all agreed.
Amazingly, the Eagles last week blew this concert out of the park. I guess they can’t all be winners.
So I knew I wanted to wear a red, so what better red than my fave no-longer-available Mojave?! Which then called for a slightly more subdued eye, so I went with more earth tones. And my shirt had to be #runsonlipstickandsarcasm!
There’s definitely a difference between bathroom lighting and natural lighting. I actually don’t think my bathroom lighting is that bad—we replaced all the yucky yellowish bulbs with white—but there’s still a difference.
And then we have natural vs straight:
And then lastly, my full look for the day that totally surprised me and I’m totally in love with!
The new Limited Edition Tranquil Tides ShadowSense Collection has Tumbled Jade which initially scared me (because GREEN) but you guys, it’s sooooo good! Trust me. I’ll definitely be reaching for this again! And I opted for a neutral lip to leave all the attention on the eyes.
The office is a nightmare and I’ve lost track of gift/prize organization so decided today was time. And I convinced Katie to help me.
I promised you the tips my friend shared while helping me with this look, so here they are!
1️⃣ Add a highlight color under brows and blend into main colors.
My first instinct was Sandstone Pearl Shimmer but to be honest, I need a new one and just haven’t thrown away the tube yet…so I grabbed my next favorite Limited Edition Champagne Shimmer.
2️⃣ If the shadows have already dried too much to easily blend, spray your brush with the Hydrating Facial Serum Mist!
I was unsure but it worked! It was just the right amount of moisture to let me blend without ruining the look.
3️⃣ Add more highlight on inside corners and part of lid.
I already had Wind Shimmer on the inner corners so I just brought it in a bit farther onto the lid (don’t go past your pupil).
4️⃣ Add a bit of highlight to the very middle of the lips with a glitter (LipSense or ShadowSense).
If I had wanted a hint of gold, I would have used Chocolate Copper LipSense, but for a hint of silver I opted for Glacier Glitter (but you could use Silver Shimmer).
You know how I’m always telling you to go outside your comfort zone because it’s just makeup? Well, guess what I did today?!
I wanted my eye look to match the LipSense color I created…so grabbed Red and Onyx. That might not sound too crazy but c’mon —STRAIGHT RED? And I have to be careful with Onyx because it tends to get away from me easily.
Truth be told, I had to “phone a friend” because it just wasn’t turning out and I needed her advice before I ruined the whole thing. Turns out I had mostly known what to do but had just been unsure. But! She added some cool bits and had some helpful tips I’ll pass on to you (stay tuned). And I felt better about the look when I was done. Plus we got to catch up for 15 minutes while we finished the look!
I knew it looked better but I still wasn’t sure I truly liked it. She assured me it looked great and it was just a new look for me so I wasn’t used to it yet. (And that’s what I always tell my clients!)
In the end, it did grow on me. And the pictures turned out great. And I will keep practicing…
Today’s look was super simple—one shadow on my eyes (but it looks like two, right?) and I could have used it as blush, too, but I wasn’t paying attention. And I don’t always love Solar Flare Gloss but today it was perfection.
TODAY’S LESSON: Don’t be afraid to try new things with makeup because it’s just makeup. If you fail, just wash it off and try again.
Lesson 2? Yes, orange really will cover dark circles because – think back to elementary school art – orange is opposite purple on the color wheel. 🧡💜
And, today’s third lesson? You need to better match the orange to your skin tone. 😂 It was a little too deep for me and my eyes ended up looking a bit too yellow. But they weren’t purple! 😂🤷🏻♀️
Technically I really don’t belong anywhere in SeneGence—I don’t have any official uplines anymore (the CEO is mine, which sounds cool but doesn’t really do anything for me)…so that Jenna Clark has taken me under her wing in her group fills my heart (logistically I fall under her, but it’s so far below it’s not official).
So I have to admit I love seeing this when I visit her group. I am in the TOP 5 SELLERS of her entire global dominion (you can see her group has 6.2K members). If you would have told me this (almost) five years ago when I started this little side hustle, I would have laughed and laughed and laughed. AND LAUGHED. Yet here we are.
HERE I AM.
Please don’t ever knock your friends’ side gigs because you NEVER know just what it means to them, their families, their mental well-being, or their overall life. Maybe consider celebrating them instead.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
So here’s how my makeup lasted today. I think it’s pretty damn good considering I was legit bawling my eyes out for a good solid two hours plus crying on and off the rest of the day. The mascara does seem to have disappeared a bit, but it’s not all over my face! I didn’t even look at my face once all day to check it.
Soooo I give the waterproof mascara a definite passing grade!
Today was the day, y’all! I delivered all 50 Blessing Bags to A Safe Place/Lake County Crisis Center! They were thrilled and couldn’t wait to hand them out! I told them I will probably do something similar every year so stay tuned…
I am so thankful for everyone who donated!
