They were fighting over the alphabet blocks so I told Owen to help her with the letters. I knew she knew some letters, but I was amazed at how many she actually knew (or knew the sounds of)! 🙂

Mama can we go the playground please?
Spirit Day and My Little Pumpkin
I was originally excited thinking that kids would dress up for school today but with the school-wide party last week and early dismissal today, today was a “spirit day” and they were supposed to dress in orange and black. And Tom actually was home this morning and got Katie dressed—and then I remembered at the last possible minute before heading to the bus stop that I had to put her in the sweater that I’ve been waiting a year and a half for (a hand-me-down from the Beson girls!).
Five Little Pumpkins
HOA Fall Festival
I had to make her an MSU Cheerleader today!
Craft table! Which I had to do while also carrying their bags, his light saber, and my camera. 🙂 Tom was running late because he was finishing up the back steps.
Katie LOVED the train. This was the first of many rides.
Snack time and water break!
Costume contest! (A puppy won it.)
Attempting the Mummy Race. Owen understood he had to wrap Katie up, but he wasn’t careful and the toilet paper kept breaking and he just kept wrapping it around her neck so she was screeching “I’M STUCK! I’M STUCK!” It lasted maybe all of 45 seconds. 🙂
Piñata!
Anakin meets Darth!
A Brave Grannie
Owen’s first martial arts experience!
He was invited to a birthday party at a local martial arts place…and boy did he have fun. We would actually have been interested in sending him there, but it’s expensive (not to mention 4-5 days a week).
Here is a video compilation of some of the stuff he did.
But I had to put this video in all on its own—he was SO excited and SO proud of himself for breaking the board! GO OWEN!
Katie getting scared by the peekaboo bear
We were downstairs coloring a welcome sign for Grannie and Papa when Katie pulled out her peekaboo bear…and the excitement began. Holy cow.
Some days they just go crazy
Watch out for Katie’s ninja spins and how she steals Owen’s seat. These are from a variety of times over last night and today.
Dad’s Day at Owen’s School
We all went for the morning program!
Then they told us it was Halley tradition to have the VIPs participate in Tooty Ta with the kids! (This is the dance I posted awhile back that Owen learned in Pre-K but did again this year.)
You can’t see us very well, but me and Gramma Jean are up in the front. 🙂
Owen’s cubbies:
Owen’s table:
I love his hopes and dreams: to do more homework! 🙂
This is why I can’t take Katie in the classroom…all my attention has to be on her.
She just wants to play and take out every toy. Here she was having a tea party. 🙂 I have no idea where she learned the words tea party.
Owen is Calendar Helper. We didn’t get to see it this morning because the morning program ran late. I have yet to get a good description out of him on what Calendar Helper does. 🙂
Getting ready for snack time!
What’s left of the ant farm from last week:
Getting ready to go to lunch.
Everyone gets hand sanitizer!
LUNCH! We asked who he usually sits with and he said “Somebody.” 🙂
After lunch, daddy was back in the classroom helping.
Owen loved every minute of it—and so did Tom!
A bigger better house!
Playground with Gramma
Trampoline Birthday Party
Gramma wins at Trouble!

Katie Tantrum #94
She couldn’t get her shoes off.
This is what shopping with Katie is like.
Katie Tantrum #91—Well, this is new.
Katie’s room got…updated.
Morning Dancing
I love when they make me smile.
I’m Katie Bug!
If you ask Katie if she’s a stink bug or a loosey goose or anything like that, she says “No, I’m Katie Bug.” It’s ADORABLE.
Katie Tantrum #87
I wouldn’t let her go outside with Maggie.
Katie playing catch with daddy
Katie doesn’t want to take a nap
Katie loves her kitchen!
We got her a new kitchen from IKEA and she loves it. It’s in the basement and she’s always sneaking down there to play. Sometimes I even make it down there with her. Her favorite thing to do is put stuff in the microwave and cut her foods (we have a few sets that attach with Velcro so they can be “cut”).
First rainy school day!
Luckily we all had raincoats because we apparently lost all our umbrellas (minus Katie’s from Grandma Marsha!) in the move. Katie was thrilled because she got a new (new) coat and new (used) boots to wear for the first time! She couldn’t quite get the hang of the umbrella so Owen held it.
And then she noticed WATER and of course HAD to play in it. 🙂
Then walking home with the umbrella…
Katie Tantrum #84
Random Katieness
She loves “ice” (she can repeat dice if we say it, but then she reverts back to saying ice).
She lost her ice… She was attempting to put it in her pocket…except her leggings didn’t have pockets so she shoved it down her pants and then couldn’t find it.
A special treat—a new water sprinkler!
Our first circus!
Today we took the kids to the Big Apple Circus! Tom and I had watched a PBS special on them years ago and always wanted to go…so when I found out they were going to be local, it was a no-brainer. Owen was SUPER excited to go and knew all about the circus, though I honestly have no idea how because I don’t think we’ve ever talked about it, read books about it, or anything.
We opted for the cheap seats since they claimed there was not a bad seat in the house. They were pretty truthful and I was happy with our seats—they were perfect for us because we were right at the top of the steps in the very outermost ring with no seats in front of us right below the A/C! (As it turned out, there were lots of empty seats and we likely could have moved closer, but we just stayed where we were.)
This is where Katie sat to watch about a third of the show.
Another third was from Tom’s lap. And the last third, well…you’ll see a picture later. 🙂
We all oohed and ahhed as one girl got into the little box. AND THEN A SECOND GIRL CRAWLED IN WITH HER!
Goats riding on ponies! They also had dogs riding on the ponies!
Spinning brothers! Amazing!
The last third of the show was her running around in that section of seats. 🙂 She did really well overall and I was happy to let her run there since she sat still the whole first part.
Amazing balancing act. All of those pieces she’s standing on wobble and roll.
The final act—trapeze artists! Owen LOVED them.
The butterflies on the walls at the end.
As we were waking out, I asked Owen what his favorite part was.
Owen: The boing boing at the end!
Which, of course, referred to the trapeze artists doing their final jump/dive into the net to get down from the high wires. 🙂
Then we stopped to eat and didn’t get home until almost 8:00. At which point Owen was still talking about it. 🙂
