It’s very hard to hear through the wind, but the gist was the coach said Owen had the most improved footwork of any player on the team! He actually told us before that Owen was the most improved player—he actually listens and pays attention!

Soccer game day!
Today was photo day! I honestly didn’t want to pay the outrageous prices for photos, so I planned to sneak some of Owen and his team and Tom snagged one of Katie’s session (it was at 8am and me and Owen didn’t make it for that). Also, I knew Katie would have half her team missing (due to pics being an hour before the game) and we never really got to know any of the kids (like we did with T-ball and baseball) outside the two kids we already knew.

It really wasn’t until after the game when I was looking at all the pics I took that I realized Owen was really handling the ball well. He has improved SO much it’s unbelievable!
Owen might be on a swim team!
Before Owen’s lesson, his instructor came and told us he was going to be testing Owen to see how he’d do on a swim team. He’s trying to get a local team together and he thought Owen was ready. As far as Owen knew, he was just practicing. 🙂
After, the instructor told us he thought he was definitely ready…so he’ll let us know if and when he gets a team together. (They have a team right now but it’s 30-45 minutes away from home so we’re not about to do that.)

Cold and windy soccer morning
This morning was a horrible morning weather-wise for soccer—it looked gorgeous but the wind was gusting at probably 20-30mph and with temps in the high 40s/low 50s it was cold. I felt so bad for all the kids…but they didn’t really seem to be bothered too much by it. However, I had on a 32° undershirt, a heavy sweatshirt, my winter coat, gloves, and was covered in TWO blankets…and was still freezing. It was even so cold my phone’s battery died so I only got a few pics.

We were literally the only ones there!
We went to Flight with a neighbor. We were literally the only four people there for most of our hour. It was awesome.

Owen is a Shark 2!
This is the first thing I saw when I turned my phone on after my plane landed!! Owen graduated to Shark 2!! He’s been a Shark for just over a year and he tested last week and didn’t quite make it, so of course the week I’m out of town is when he does it! Stinker!

Soccer Games Saturday
Today was Katie’s first game and she was SUPER excited…new jersey, new shorts, new shoes, new shin guards, and new headband!! Doesn’t she look the part?!

She was SOOOO excited to be going to soccer! Earlier in the day when I told her to go put on her soccer clothes, I just meant the clothes she would be wearing to practice (which she knew was her mermaid shirt and her black shorts) but she came down FULLY dressed, complete with socks and shin guards! 🙂

He’s having a blast and getting better every game! Also, my mommy guilt got the better of me and Katie starts soccer practice next week…

She has ballet on Tuesdays and I knew we were going somewhere with friends after so I had her pack her backpack. Of course, she thought this meant she was going RIGHT NOW so when I told her we still had an hour, she sat in the doorway waiting and watching the kids walk by to the bus stop.

Owen’s first game was today! It was hot as blazes but they all worked hard and did awesome! Since the teams are so big, they split them so two games are going on at a time. Owen’s team technically tied, but they don’t officially keep score. We are so proud of him!!
