This was the closest Britt and I got just for a quick pic!

Back at the house we sat outside across the deck and I was too lazy to actually remove the chair cover and it kept falling down so we joked it was our way to keep distanced.

We had to go pick up a Facebook purchase for Katie’s room and I knew we’d be close to some parks…and it was finally a sunny day…so we dragged the whole family along. We hadn’t been here before but we will definitely be back! Lots of parking, lots of great trails (paved and wooded), pavilions, bathrooms, a lake…and a ton of Pokémon stops!!
First games of the season were so hot you couldn’t stand it. Today? We’re in winter coats, gloves, and blankets!
They won 13-3 in six innings!
Owen getting his trophy!
We didn’t get any great team pics this season due to social distancing and temperature.
It was the last game together for these boys. Aden is transferring to a different city team and Jackson is moving to travel ball. Jackson’s dad is the head coach which means he’s moving to be with his son…so that means Tom has decided to be the head coach next season!!
Today we explored another new nature reserve with Anna and David and the kids. I generally don’t take many pics but I did think this tree was super cool.
I took this picture so on an upcoming day when she’s being a little brat, I can point out to Tom that there was a point at which she was being cute and sweet.
We did have Anna take a family photo later on the walk to prove we actually got out of the house.
Going off trail to explore the lake. They were so excited you’d think they’d never seen water before.
There are lots of parks and nature preserve around so we’ve started checking out some of them with our friends. I need to take more pics—this was one Anna managed to get.
Sometimes random pics turn out better than you expected. I kinda love this one in black and white.
And sometimes they’re just okay.
It’s so awesome that this field is across the street at the park! Tom just carries down the pitching machine and a bucket of balls…
Walking to a friend’s outdoor karaoke night… She’s doing one-handed cartwheels. I think she needs to get back into gymnastics. If only we weren’t in a pandemic…
It was hot and sunny so Owen came over to sit under the shade for a bit.
It isn’t quite the same as there are only three teams (instead of like six), spectators need to stay six feet apart (and wear masks to and from the fields) and the boys can’t sit on the bench and also need to stay six feet apart when not in the field…but it does feel good to have a little bit of normalcy again. Tom is once again an assistant coach.
Owen thought he wanted to also catch this year but after doing one game and his back hurting (!) he opted to stick with pitching (and of course he loves first base but they still get rotated through all positions).
They don’t quite manage to stay six feet apart, but at least we’re outside in the sun and fresh air.
Here’s a compilation of some of Owen’s game time today. Papa requested some as they won’t be able to make it to a game this season.
So we have another baseball game this morning and I thought “oh I’ll wear blue to match the team colors” and then I started doing my make up and I don’t think I can do a subtle daytime baseball look with sapphire blue. But… I haven’t used it before and it’s absolutely gorgeous.
Today taking a trip around the park to spin some Pokestops. We close in 24 days! 😱
Katie is more excited than she looks as she picked this route. She just wants to go play in the gross water and was mad at us for making her take a picture.
I thought this was a good mask for our walk around the neighborhood. Owen refused to do it.
It was nice today (57°!) so we took a walk to do a photo scavenger hunt and leave chalk notes on people’s driveways!
The kids went across the street to decorate the driveway of a single older lady. Owen also told me her brought her trash up to the house. ❤️
As far as for social distancing? Every single person that we saw and had to pass kept the right distance. Sometimes we moved out of the way, sometimes they moved out of the way. Thankfully we didn’t see any kids at the park but I would’ve lost my mind.
I was really happy about all this because I keep hearing stories about how parks are FULL of kids with and without parents around?!?! GRRR. I just think a lot of people are in the “it’s not going to happen to me” camp. And, of course, in the best case scenario, we won’t see anything happen at all and we will think all of this was for nothing. But that just means that it worked.
Anyway, they really had a lot more fun than I thought they would. Now we just need lots more nice days…
I treated myself when we got back… uncovered my egg chair and had a drink!
No one else showed up today so she had the instructor all to herself… She was done with her lesson when I challenged her to swim the length of the pool.
And showing off her mermaid moves…
Play time afterwards…
When no one else shows up for their lessons and both kids get one-on-one instruction at the same time… 🙌🏻
But of course he could!
After three years away from lessons, she leveled up after just a handful of lessons!
A Facebook memory popped up that three years ago my kids were at British Swim School in Woodbridge, VA. Guess where they are tonight? 🏊♀️🏊🏻♂️

That’s it, the end. That said, I now feel sooooo naked without the volume intense mascara!! But we only had swim lessons today so I didn’t need my normal face.
Swim lessons started again today! They’ve both been asking me, and their lesson times finally backed up to one another, so it was time! They both needed a tiny bit of practice since they haven’t had lessons in over two years, but the instructor said they did really well!
This is Katie annoyed with the world because she couldn’t get her hair under her cap by herself but she refused to try and wouldn’t ask for (or let me) help. ARE WE HAVING FUN YET?
Getting their jump on with good friends on a day off of school! Bonus points for matching Pokémon shirts.
Katie being a monkey.
Once the kids finished cleaning the basement I was going to put on a movie for them and make lunch. Then a friend texted to invite us to Jump America—they had an all-day special and NO ONE WAS THERE. So I made quick sandwiches and we were off! Owen made me happy by wearing the shirt I made. Katie refused.
Katie and her friend apparently got tired of jumping and did this.
He also agreed to go on a walk with me before school this morning. 🥰
Owen’s team won the fall championship in a 19-17 nail biter today! They were up a few and then down by 10 (and we thought the game might get called by the slaughter rule), then we caught up, then they caught up, and then we were ahead by two and held them off!! Owen did his thing on 1st and caught the ball for the final out of the game! We are so proud of all the boys!!
Here’s a few pics from the game. Owen on second.
A typical sight: tying shoelaces.
Attempting to steal home. I can’t remember if he did or not.
Katie was being punished for earlier transgressions at home and had to sit by me the entire game, so I got these.
The game was stressful to watch because the score was so back-and-forth. But once we came back from being 10 runs down, the entire mood changed and it was a real game!! We were ahead by two going into the top of the seventh inning so we expected they’d score and we’d have to rally in the bottom of the seventh (and last) inning but the boys held them off!
I was taking pics of the last plays and got these. They aren’t great because the fence was in the way, but I love the progression of the excitement, then the boys coming in from the field, then throwing hats in the air! I wished I had gotten a shot of Owen actually catching the ball but it is what it is.

Happy boy!
Happy daddy!
Fun with Coach Jamie!
And then it was off to Culver’s to celebrate!
Long-haired ladies, you know the struggle of going for a walk when it’s windy outside. I don’t do messy buns but I do crazy clip updos.
