She was the fastest out of her entire PE class! (She also said the girls beat the boys overall!)

Katie loves running so when Cross Country was offered as an intramural I signed her up immediately! It was after school for an hour for eight days. Their goal was apparently to lower their time for the mile—and she did! She dropped a minute off her time!
Instead of an in-person concert, the kids recorded the concert and we will get a video of it soon! They did post a few pics online and these are two that Owen was in!
And this pic I snapped as she was trying to get out of the picture? This looks like she could be 3yo again.
I’ll take a selfie with my boy whenever he lets me!
Owen was pitching and Evan was batting! I don’t even remember what the outcome was!
While the boys are practicing baseball, the girls are out walking!
Anna wanted to take a guided kayak tour at Starved Rock campground and invited us. I know my limits and Katie’s limits (after her kayak meltdown at Grannie and Papa’s earlier this summer) so I passed…but Tom and Owen went. They had a great time! (And I had a good time taking Katie shopping!)
And lunch!
Last time the kids went swimming at Mark’s!
Owen swimming under the dock.
Last time in Mark’s hot tub.
Gramma and Grandpa were headed to Gabby’s graduation party on Moccasin Lake in the U.P. (near Munising) so it was a perfect time to make the transfer. They got to spend the day with their cousins and had a great time!
The kids had such a great time Gramma and Grandpa took them back again!
Tom’s youth baseball coaching career is off to a great start—the Phillies are the Gurnee Youth Baseball Mustang Champions! It took two days and 9 innings but they did it!
What made the win even more exciting is that they beat the undefeated Cubs to win! (And the Cubs had actually slaughtered us in a previous game—something like 17-2.)
It was a nail biter for sure—they caught up and we were tied 12-12 which then pushed us into an extra inning! And after no scoring, another inning! And then in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, we scored—which meant the game was immediately over!
A special sidenote: Anna and family showed up again to cheer the team on!
Our boys were killing it! They were on fire! We were ahead 12-9!
But it was getting dark and championship games are mandatory 7 innings (regular games are 5 innings or 2 hours) so they called it at 8pm and said we have to finish tomorrow night! WHAAAAAT?! Apparently they’ve never done that! If the commissioner would have just called it we would have been champions! (There’s more to this story but that’s the gist.) So we have to come back tomorrow night for two innings…
Special best friend sidenote: Anna and family showed up to surprise us! So she was able to actually take a picture of me at baseball!
Look what happened during Owen’s championship baseball game tonight?!
I’m gonna take it as a sign that both cats found each other over the rainbow bridge, are now looking for their old buddy Fuzzy, and are patiently awaiting our arrival.
Just some neighborhood practice before tomorrow’s first championship game. I had to take some cool photos after a pitch got stuck.
Some of the dads went on a fishing trip in Wisconsin!
Tom’s offering was Bloody Marys with huuuuge skewers of meat, cheese, veg, and pretzel bites!
Tom didn’t take many pics so these are from others!
The boys were having a blast!
So Katie decided she wanted to go, too. And it started with super big happy smiles…and very quickly devolved into extreme pouting as she realized it was too windy and wasn’t as easy as she wanted. Ahhh vacation.
And this might be my fave photo from the whole trip… Happy boy.
It was super sunny and hot at baseball —with no shade of course —so I was under our tent and an umbrella!
Tom is a Head Coach this year and loving it—he’s always wanted to coach and now he’s getting the chance. He already knows most of the kids on the team since they’ve been on previous teams.
Owen’s first at bat got him on base! His second got a hit but it was a pop fly that got caught. He was part of a few double plays. He had three RBIs and we won 8-6!
And this was what Katie spent lots of time doing:
Tom texted me from the ball field asking for a sweatshirt for Owen so I had to enter the boys room. Yikes. It took a few minutes but I did find one.
Kim and I took Katie on our walk today and gave her some practice being a mother’s helper.
Katie has been begging to go back to gymnastics class so when they finally opened, we had to go in to get her evaluated (since it’s been two years since she finished her class). She picked up most of it pretty quickly.
The kids were super excited to get back to the pool! They haven’t been in lessons in over a year, but they both got right back into it like pros.
