We discovered this destroyed Xbox controller this morning—little orange pieces of Nerf foam that had been picked off the controller the previous night when they were all playing. So it was Owen, Katie, Aiden, or Evan…yet every single one of them flat out denied it. Because of course.
So this was the tech issue I had to deal with today. Katie connected just fine in the morning but after lunch… nope. Long story short, I ended up putting her on my laptop. Turns out Google is having some unknown issue plus these school-provided Chromebooks aren’t great…so this happens. And is happening across the country. Good times.
Remember we don’t have a tree anymore—last year we got a real tree because we didn’t want to get a new artificial tree until we saw the house where we’d be using it.
My dream would be to have the 14′ tree because our living room can definitely hold it…but $900?! Also, that would limit the tree to that room only. So realistically I’d want the 9′ tree so it could go in either the living room or the front room. Tom doesn’t want either because he wants real trees but those are easily $85-100 a year. So we’ll see.
We had a quick rainshower and Katie always runs out to see if there’s a rainbow. There rarely is but there was today. I’m hoping it’s a sign that things are going to get better.
Then the kids went out on their bikes to look for the end of the rainbow.
Well today started out okay with me waking up before my alarm and I got to have some nice leisurely quiet time before the kids got up.
And they showered without much drama and they ate breakfast without much drama and we took school pictures without much drama… And then the shitshow started.
Owen had some technical difficulties dealing with an external monitor and Bluetooth headphones and Google meets and when I asked him if these were the same headphones that he used last year he said yes but they didn’t work for Google meets then either.
YOU THINK YOU MIGHT HAVE TOLD US THAT AT SOME POINT BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL?! (What I was screaming in my head—not what I said to him.) But he was completely losing it and this was him just four minutes in to Remote Learning. /cry/ Even though I wanted them home to be safe…THIS. JUST. SUCKS.
But things have gotten a little better since 9:04 AM when it was the worst and I think we might make it through this day without me needing to drink a gallon of margaritas.
I went outside to enjoy the weather in my egg chair…and Owen came out on a break and he seemed much better.
Even though the kids weren’t going to school buildings, we still dressed for first day of school pictures!! (I made them shower and make their lunches, too!)
I’m sure you’ve all heard the quote “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
Two years ago I would have cringed at posting a non-makeup photo. But after 2+ solid years of 24/7 SeneGence skincare and makeup (the makeup has anti-aging skincare in it, hence 24/7 use), I’m proud and excited to post a makeup-free face!!
I know the lighting isn’t the same but you can still see a huge difference, right?
You guys. YOU GUYS. JUST. LOOK. AT. MY. SKIN! I am flabbergasted.
And the bonus? Look at how goooood my face looks with JUST tinted moisturizer?!
Walking to a friend’s outdoor karaoke night… She’s doing one-handed cartwheels. I think she needs to get back into gymnastics. If only we weren’t in a pandemic…
It’s been about 10 months since I had a haircut. Normally I go about six. I didn’t really notice how bad it was until I tried to straighten it and it was nearly impossible because the ends were so awful. It was also too long—I didn’t think it was but when I looked back at the pics of the last time I got it cut, I liked it shorter… So I did it again. Except I think it’s just a bit shorter yet. It’s great to feel human again.
Also, apparently we have the best lighting in our front yard at 7 o’clock at night.
Our neighbors brought us some sweet corn from the local stand that is often hard to come buy because it goes fast. The kids decided to make them thank yous. Katie did this… Hahaha. She used scented markers.
I took a picture of [a Chromebook model number] text because it was too small for me to read. 😭 I guess it’s time to start wearing readers around my neck. 😂
Anna and I have been dying to get back to the salon to get our nails done. For some reason my cuticles turn to crap when I don’t have fake nails no matter what I do… Plus my real nails keep breaking at the base and are painful.
The salon felt safer than most stores I’ve been in. Masks required. Wait outside until you’re called. Temps taken upon entry. Everyone was wearing a mask—CORRECTLY. And they had plastic barriers between each worker and client.
Tonight I called on the power of posting on Facebook to help me find my lost margarita earring. I had it at 8pm before I went to visit a neighbor for a driveway drink… (I checked my photos and I had happened to take a pic before I knew I was headed over.) I’ll look in the street tomorrow but I don’t have high hopes.
I was pointing out my ombre lip color for a post in the makeup workshop I was participating in.
After three hours of visiting and walking the neighborhood with her…
I joke about margaritas but they really are my thing. Check out my workshop bio.
