Everyone was gathered for Aunt Florence’s memorial—and it was the first time our kids met the Hough side of the Schwalm clan. They are lined up by age, with Katie being the youngest at 5 and Gabrielle the oldest at 14.
Then we took a selfie because we haven’t done so in awhile.

My official thought? Meh. Who takes a pic angled UP?! 😕 😂 I did think it was weird he wasn’t using a tripod but didn’t think much of it. I guess at least it’s straight?! I guess you get what you pay for (it was free for us) and at least we have a clear picture, right?

Tom had some wood he needed to burn so we decided to have a campfire and cook dinner in it!! But first, something to help warm the insides…

2017 Marine Corps Birthday Ball
Turns out we have zero good lighting spots in our house for pictures. Which means I should have gotten out my real camera…
So we did a selfie and hope that our actual ball photo will be better (they took professional pics but they were free so we have no idea when we will get them).
Doh! The first time ever we could bring our own wine and I forgot.
It’s always fun to get dressed up and go out but I never know anyone so it’s honestly kind of awkward. We ended up leaving early because we were both tired…
Time to revamp the mermaid hair!
The color didn’t last nearly as long as I’d hoped and I was not loving the bleached blonde look so it was time to fix it…and I wanted it done for the birthday ball so today was the day.
The new, more subtle colors. We opted to not use the same teal I had before so I could use a dark blue shampoo which will hopefully help the color last longer.
At this point (just about halfway in) she already needed to go mix more color. Yeah, I have a lot of hair.
Time to rinse and wash.
I know my hair is long but it looks sooo much longer when it’s professionally blown out and straightened.
