Maggie spends most of vacation sleeping…either on my lap or a blanket on a chair. (She’s a really good dog and knows to only lay on a blanket on the leather furniture. If the blanket slides off, she will usually lay on it on the floor!)

I brought face paint for Grauntie Marge to give to the kids…she’s much more of an artist then I am!

As soon as I saw these on Pinterest I knew I wanted to make them—we have a bunch of branches in various sizes so it was perfect. I thought it would be a quick 20-minute project.
Ha. Haha.
Tom brought in a Rubbermaid bin full of rounds and I could tell within minutes it wasn’t going to be as easy as I had imagined. It was really difficult to get just the right widths to layer so they looked right. And of course they weren’t all round so you had to try and match shapes. And even though we had like three big branches, it didn’t correlate to the right size pieces. I think I worked for over an hour trying to get a few decent trees (these were going to be gifts).
In the end they aren’t Pinterest Perfect, but they’re still cute, so it’s only a half fail. 🙂

Tom went to Glen’s (it will ALWAYS be Glen’s) and came home with a bunch of new $1 bottles for me to try. It’s not bad but it’s not a margarita.

We don’t always get a chance to stop at Goodale’s, so we took advantage today! And Katie was out of her grouchy phase. 🙂

I love that Grayling has some cool breweries (I don’t like beer but I love food!). I can’t even remember what she was being grouchy about, but she refused to be in the picture.

The exciting part? Owen discovered he likes Reubens and Bang Bang Shrimp!
I never shop at Hallmark any other time except when we come home…and I always find stuff I want. Sometimes I splurge, sometimes I add to my Amazon wishlist. Today I splurged because HOW CAN YOU NOT WHEN IT’S PERFECT?! #MargaritasAreLife #christmasornaments #vacation #northernmichigan #grayling #photobomber #livinglippy

This is what I walked into today in the kids’ bathroom. What the—? A sock, pencil, random pieces of tissue, hand towel, toilet cleaning sponges, cleaning cloth, and a piece of homework. UGH.

The counter wasn’t much better.

I took to Facebook to make sure it was normal. I was assured it is.
Needless to say we will be working on this.
He found out today that he gets braces at his next appointment!

Any guesses what I did differently today? I think it’s subtle, but maybe a bit too subtle.

Maybe a side-by-side with extra graphics will help. 🙂

Yep, purple brows! I didn’t want to go crazy at first so went with the lightest purple we have. Next time I might try Deep Plum.
Our first Mommy/daughter matching ColorStreet manicure. 💅🏼 She’s been begging for a long time now—back to when I first tried Jamberry in Virginia—and I’ve told her I will do it as soon as she stops chewing her nails. She hasn’t yet…but I finally caved since I didn’t feel like resealing my unused holiday strip with the FoodSaver to save until next year.

Patiently waiting her turn for a drink while Charlie dips her paw and licks water off it. Slowly.

It’s like she’s saying “Are you kidding me with this?”

And now she’s waiting for the window seat! 😂

Don’t worry. Maggie gets her fair share of time in the bed. But that said, she is a pushover. If she’s somewhere the cat wants to be, Charlie will push her way in and kick Maggie out.

Each of the kids in Katie’s class gets to bring Traveling Teddy home for the weekend. They have to write a page about what they do and post pictures. I forgot to take a picture of what she wrote, but here are the pics.

When we got there they were all reading a book with the teacher.

Katie had to introduce me.

Decorating a snowman cookie.

The kids loved all the snacks and games and gifts. Katie especially loved being able to go home early with me. 🙂
Katie wanted to dress up for her holiday party and ended up borrowing a dress from her best friend Sophia. Then she wanted to wear her Santa hat…and have her picture taken with Maggie.

Then Maggie watches her buddy go off to school…

1. Yes I now believe in “season-appropriate” colors. I don’t always follow it but I understand it now. I’m not sure if that’s too anal or I’m finally just understanding makeup application more. 😂
2. My eyes feel naked but I opted against doing them as I have a brow appointment plus a demo tonight and I don’t feel like putting it all on just to take it off in few hours. #YouAllKnowImLazy
3. It’s cold out so the pic was taken inside in my hot mess of a house…in the one spot that looks clean!
I volunteered to bring the goodie bags for Katie’s holiday party. I figured I hate all the cheap crap that comes home that just ends up as clutter so I’d make fun bags. It was harder then I thought, because (long story) we couldn’t do food and it’s expensive to fill 19 bags. I think the class has money for these things but I don’t mind spending some money. So I ended up doing a pencil, a tube of glitter glue, an emoji tattoo, a crazy straw, a color-changing straw, and a glow stick bracelet. Katie helped me pack the bags!

Just when you get complacent thinking your 9yo is self-sufficient in the mornings… You find out he put a plastic container in the oven to heat up pancakes. 😳
You see, Katie came up to ask me how to toast the pancake pieces. I told her to have Owen help her (since he heats up pancakes in the toaster oven regularly). She said she knew but they were (cut up) pieces (instead of full pancakes) so it was different. True, good point. So I told her to put them on a tray and we discussed which tray to use.
Owen came up a little bit later and told me that they put the top in the refrigerator because it was hot. Huh? What? Top? What top? What was hot?
A quick check of the June oven cooking replay shows the entire plastic container in the oven. Top and all. Slowly melting.

I asked Owen how he thought that would toast the pancakes (being inside the container) and he says “BUT I DIDN’T KNOW MOM!”
I asked how it was so different from how he normally does pancakes and he stands there like he can’t understand English.
Stuff like this is so frustrating… How can he not have common sense? I suppose that’s normal for a 9yo boy. Right?! 😣 At least he noticed and took it out and didn’t burn the house down.

Since the kids got their phones back on a limited basis, we’ve been going out Pokémoning again. We stopped at a park today and went down to a frozen pond. I didn’t want the sun at our backs but it was a little bright.

Fine.

A friend and I went to a local craft fair and I fell in love with these big soft floofy infinity scarves. But I’m not a scarf person. I’ve tried. But I put it on and it didn’t look too bad.

It’s even better in daylight!

I decided to treat myself to a pedicure…

But it was ever so much more fun with a friend…

Katie desperately wanted to go shopping with her teacher tonight for “Shopping with the Educators” at Target. To see just how serious she was, I told her she had to spend her own money—and she agreed instantly. So of course I matched her money and had a ball watching her shop with her teacher and a handful of classmates for the local holiday food drive. She loved shopping, ringing everything up, and loading it on the school bus. 💕 Mrs. Glenn is completely awesome and did an amazing job corralling a large handful of kids into buying what they needed.
