When I came downstairs this morning, Katie excitedly told me that Charlie had been sleeping under the tree.

I was putting Owen to bed and he heard what sounded like thunder. I didn’t think we were expecting any storms so I told him I thought it was someone moving their garbage container. And then Maggie appeared, trembling. Maggie never comes in his room…which means it was thunder.
I practically had to carry her out because she desperately wanted to stay there. Poor thing.

We had to take Maggie to the vet today for a vaccination and Katie loved the kittens in the lobby.
“Mom! Look at the kitties! They’re SO cute!”
Then later as Maggie was sniffing around the cage—
Katie: Do you like my doggy? Her name is Maggie.
Hey! There were cat treats here just a bit ago!

Charlie just makes herself at home wherever she wants on the table. Normally Owen doesn’t care but she was right ON his placemat.

Of course, 10 seconds after I snapped this, Katie did something to annoy Charlie and got swatted and there were tears and crying and drama.

Overall it was a great day—the kids all had a blast together, the food was abundant and delicious, and everyone had fun relaxing and playing games. I think it was the right decision to move our Christmas to the middle of summer!

Katie kept putting the bunny ears on repeatedly for a good 5-10 minutes—Tom and I were AMAZED she just laid there! She did eventually run off, but she stayed far longer than we thought she would!
