Aunt Sheryl always brings gifts for the kids. Today they got Easter baskets and toys—Owen got a Lego set which he had to put together immediately! 🙂

Spring break play date!
We finally had some gorgeous weather so we had a play date with friends at their house (one of Owen’s classmates).
Minecraft Mine: Complete!
Another Lego finished. This one was a bit easier–ages 8+ and only 922 pieces.
When Owen was done, he was ADAMANT that I take a picture and show it to Mason, his friend in Ohio who also likes Lego and Minecraft. So I posted it on Facebook. His mom’s reply? Mason said “Oh my gosh! That is so cool!” Then did this…
A new position of honor.Â
I moved the Sea Cow today because I finally took down the snowman and small Christmas trees.
He finally finished the Sea Cow tonight!
Overall he did AWESOME for a set meant for ages 14+…but from now on, we’re sticking to a bit less complicated sets.
Bear fun
Owen hauled both bears downstairs tonight…and then this happened.

He was actually planning a bear wedding but it never happened.

More Sea Cow progress!
It got put away for awhile since we needed the room for a Saturday Night Dinner so it finally just came back upstairs. I think he has two bags left.

Valentine’s Gifts
Katie got a Keurig for her kitchen so she can make coffee for daddy…
And Owen got a Valentine’s Lego set and home-printed cards for his favorite iPad game (which we cut out and laminated). If you can believe it, the cards were his favorite thing and he forgot all about the Legos for an entire day!

Cuddling with mouse (from one of her favorite books: If you take a mouse to school) after finding him in the basement earlier today. She was also cranky because daddy was at class and wasn’t going to be home before bedtime.
Another successful birthday sleepover!
Owen wanted another summer birthday pool party, so like last year, we had a sleepover with two friends for his birthday. I’m not sure who was more excited—Owen or Katie. She did pretty good overall but didn’t understand why the boys didn’t want to go play with her instead of playing with Owen. (That said, she did get to play with them most of the time.)
We had pizza for dinner, then they all played downstairs (including Katie), and then it was time for Pie face!
Ice cream! Poor Colton (in black) doesn’t like chocolate so didn’t want the ice cream or brownie…so had an ice pop.

iPad time

We put them to bed at 9:30 and they wanted to read a book so we told them lights out at 10. I happened to be watching on the monitor when they turned the lights out at 9:45. We thought it was too easy…and we were right. They were gabbing LOUDLY for the next hour. The last 20 minutes or so, Tom and I took turns going in to tell them to quiet down and go to bed. The last time Tom went in he warned them that they would not get donuts in the morning if he had to come in again. Then they were finally quiet. 🙂
Tom said they were all up at Owen’s usual time (6:30!) so they were back at Xbox and Tom went to get donuts.
The kids left by 10:30. Owen had a great time and we were glad to have our relatively quiet house back.
Sea Cow progress…
We’ve had some ups and downs…Owen continually plays with the pieces and builds other stuff and then ends up LOSING them…so he’s actually almost gotten it taken away a few times. But today we soldiered on and he finished through bag 6.
Pie Face!
We got the kids this game for Christmas and we finally played tonight! It was hilarious and well worth the $10. Poor Tom. Lucky Jen. Smart Katie.

We scored big at the thrift store today. We found Qwirkle, Sneaky Snacky Squirrel, and Chutes & Ladders Sesame Street for $1.50 each!

Snow Day 6: Flight
I had to get them out of the house to burn some energy. Thankfully it wasn’t crazy busy when they first opened.
She really catches some air when she jumps. It’s VERY impressive!

Katie really wanted to play basketball with the kids, but they were older and weren’t interested in giving her a chance. The few times Owen gave her the ball, she immediately handed it off to someone else. 🙂

Progress! It’s slow going because he keeps stopping to play with the pieces and build other stuff with them. And while I hate telling him to stop being creative, he also keeps losing pieces. And we’d much rather have him build/lose random pieces instead of the $250 set of pieces.

Katie’s Barbie reward
After our initial potty-training experience went well, we’d been having a rough few weeks with Katie having wet underwear A LOT. So we decided a bribe was in order.
She found a Barbie she wanted at Walmart and she had to be dry for seven days to get it. We put up a chart and she put her daily stickers on…and damned if she didn’t do it the first try!
This is how Katie does bingo.
