I told Owen we were going to the chiropractor and he was super excited: “Katie! We’re going to the chirocracker and get to play with toys!”
She was excited about the unicorn!
A TiVo friend was in the area so he came over for a visit with his wife and two of his kids. Tom and I had met him before in 2008 at a big TiVo meet but we wanted the boys to meet. 🙂
The kids all had fun in the police car, except it was a little crowded so the threesome didn’t last too long. 🙂
His son, Josh, is one month younger than Owen. By now you shouldn’t be surprised at size differences. 🙂
We went to a friends house for a play date and Katie grabbed the gardening gloves and shovel. 🙂
And enjoyed being driven around…
She also managed to get up into and out of the trampoline (using the stepstool) which nearly gave me heart failure.
Then she got to pet a kitten (they have a few strays that they feed) and she loved it—“Kitty cat! Kitty cat!”
Then she got up on the swing herself but needed me to push her. 🙂
You can’t beat a great morning spent with friends.
We’ve been debating selling the police car because Owen just never uses it—we practically have to force him to drive it. We mentioned selling it and he kinda freaked out saying he loved it. So we told him if he used it, we’d keep it. It would kill me to get rid of it since it was EXPENSIVE and he WANTED IT…but I hate to move it if he’s not going to use it (since there’s lots fewer places to drive it at the new place). I had hoped Katie would like it, but thus far she’s been mostly scared of it. So Owen got in it today…and had A BLAST. And after watching Owen in for about 20 minutes, Katie wanted to get in…and boy did they have fun.
Helping Katie with the speaker.
Awwwww!
The car was charging so the seats were out—so Katie hauled them around to sit on them.
Then daddy put them up here for a photo op. 🙂
We stopped at the farmers market on the way home from a Costco run…and they had face painting! Owen had never had it done, and I thought I might be able to entice him with a superhero…and it worked!!
The before:
He had a handful to choose from. Can you tell who he picked?
Katie and daddy were waiting:
Sponging on some red…
Painting some lines…
The final product—he was suddenly shy and wouldn’t look at me and wanted to go to the car. Oh well.
But once we got to the car, he had turned into Spider-Man and he was ALL SMILES!
And even throwing webs!
When we got home, he was a super big help unloading the car, and then I heard “Mama take a picture!” Yep, he had found his matching Spider-Man Lego head! 🙂
Owen was coloring with chalk and Katie wanted to see the moo. 🙂
Not a great pic but they were enjoying their treat—s’more bites. 🙂
Checking out the pond behind the market.
Back to the moo to give it a hug.
Checking out the udders (they have water coming out of them so she was excited about watee).
Wasting time at Lowe’s afterwards while daddy looked for stuff.
Last week, Mr. Eagle Eyes saw the Star Wars lego box on top of the fridge where Tom had tried to hide it. And we’re suckers, so told Owen he could have it Monday if he was good all weekend. Well, he did pretty good but on Sunday had a bit of a failing so the reward got pushed to Tuesday (which his reaction almost got the reward pushed to Wednesday).
So come this morning, he was READY. He did 99% of it on his own…and it’s an age 7-12 project!
Owen desperately wanted to go out and draw with chalk, so out we went. He is big into writing words (well, letters and numbers) and trying to spell things, so this was the first thing I saw—can you see it? Right by his feet: STOP 🙂
Then, what follows STOP? GO! (He’s finishing the O.) He spelled these on his own!
Then he was talking about hopscotch so I drew it for him. I showed him how to play and he understood but after trying it for a few minutes he said he wanted to go back to his way. 🙂
It’s a blurry pic but I caught him mid-jump.
Then it was back to chalk, where he drew…a snowstorm! And a snowman!
We went over to Mitchell’s for Virginia’s birthday and the kids loved the trampoline!
Caught in mid-air:
Daddy does the bouncing:
Katie saw this bike and wanted it and made a beeline for it. Of course she couldn’t reach the pedals but she had fun sitting on it and being pushed in it.
Both kids had A BLAST running around the big yard and getting on and off and on and off the trampoline. Virginia held Katie while they bounced and I think she liked that the best!
The kids got to stay up WAY past their bedtime because they were having SO much fun (and because we were visiting)…
This is one area Katie definitely differs from her brother—she loves drawing at a much younger age! She saw the chalk sitting out and wanted to use it…so we went out to the driveway and she Had. A. Ball.
The tongue is out!
“Here, mama!”
She was scooting all over, legs and feet going a mile a minute…
And then she’d lay her face right down on the driveway…
She was covered.
Then she stuck her hand in the exhaust pipe and was covered in black. 🙂
She did this by herself! No prompting from me!
I was sorting toys in the pod and Owen was running around with his light saber (he didn’t want to be too far from us). I’d have him run things in the house now and again. This time he was so cute carrying Katie’s pony—with his light saber—but of course I didn’t quite get the best picture. 🙂
And when I went in the house a few minutes later, I saw someone happy to have her pony back. 🙂
Today was a banner day!
While the kids were downstairs, I was upstairs sorting toys. The keep pile was very small and the huge Rubbermaid garage sale/donate box was overflowing!
Then, as you can see from my earlier post, I cleaned out both Katie and Owen’s rooms…taking out at least one bag of clothes from each room, in addition to assorted toys and books…plus the glider rocker and ottoman!
Of course, all this stuff is still somewhere in/at our house…but it’s planned for eviction soon! 🙂
