Lego sorting day!
Hi-yah!
Out of nowhere, Katie picked up Owen’s sword:
Enjoying a warm December day.
Sibling Blocks
Happy Girl
Sporty girl! With a bear! And a flower!
Bringing out the bear!
They often play on the bear in Owen’s room, so he brought it downstairs tonight! Oh what fun they had!
Katie is there behind Owen. He’s got his face in hers. 🙂
Owen loves jumping into the bear. He usually says “To infinity and beyond!” (thanks to watching Toy Story and Toy Story 2 recently)! I caught him mid-jump!
She loves the ball popper!
Someone discovered the presents!
It’s sunny so we’re outside!
Play date!
Owen and I went to the movies this morning (Frozen!) with friends of ours that are moving next week—Ruth (the one who helped me put up the lights and tree) and her daughter! We’re really going to miss them… Owen did pretty well at the movie—it was a sensory-friendly version which I don’t think he really needs anymore, but it’s at least $3pp less so we do go once in awhile. I think with the lights up and the sound down, he is actually more fidgety and doesn’t get as involved. I know I don’t get as involved because I hear the constant murmuring of all the other kids that aren’t paying attention and talking and running about…
But anyway, after the movie, they came over for sushi lunch (well, the kids had pizza bagels!) and then we went outside. Ruth just happened to have a pink baby swing in her car that she was getting rid of, so we hung it up! (I actually had one I hadn’t put up yet, so I just traded her for the pink one!) Katie liked it. Not loved it, but liked it. For a few minutes. 🙂
Owen getting tackled! He LOVED every second of it and was having a ball. He kept saying “Emily! I’m over here! Come get me!”
Emily tackling and then Katie attacking Owen once he was down!
Then he wanted to play Candyland so we got it set up and just let them play while we were in the other room talking. It apparently went well and soon we heard Owen saying “Congratulations!” 🙂
Where’s Katie? Peek!
She loves being outside!
Ornaments she can play with!
Katie and the wipes
We had an old pack of wipes floating around that she’s been playing with. I noticed today she finally actually got it open… And you can see that she knows how to blow her nose!
The things she does…
So I don’t pick up stuff as often as I should, so for about a week now, there’s been a laundry basket in the living room with odds and ends in it that need to be put away. For some reason, there’s a changing pad in there…which Katie pulled out today. I didn’t pay much attention because, honestly, she’s ALWAYS into something…but when I looked up, I saw this:
She had opened it and was laying on it, playing with an ornament…
A Santa hat this time…
The bear again…and hat fun.
This is what we do on an unseasonably warm day.
Phone Fun and a New Outfit
Owenisms 31
Owen: Mama! Watch me! He runs around the living room moving his feet really fast.
Me: Wow, that’s fancy!
Owen: Yes! Do you know where I learned it?
Me: No.
Owen: Galloping school!
Me: Galloping school?
Owen: Yes, next door to my school!
Owen just came up to me and said “You don’t smell like the queen.” I had to think a minute. Oh! Yes. He was quoting A Bug’s Life. 🙂 Then he says “You smell like a mom.”
Our neighbors put up their Christmas lights. Owen noticed them at night when they were all lit up.
Owen: Mama, look!
Me: I know—aren’t their lights pretty?
Owen: Yes! Mama, when are you going to put our lights up?
I hung the stockings while Owen was at school today so told him there was a surprise for him at home.
Owen: What is it?
Me: Go look around.
Owen: THE STOCKINGS!!
Me: Is that a good surprise?
Owen: Yes. Where are the two reindeer?
Man he has a good memory. I usually put out two silver reindeer…and he knew they were missing!
Me: They’re still in the garage.
Owen: Mama, you have to put them out.
Surprise mystery trip!
I had dropped Maggie off at the groomers so we had about 45 minutes to waste after picking Owen up so I had planned to take them to the playground.
Me: Owen, we’re going on a surprise mystery trip!
Owen: TO THE BEACH?!
Me: No.
Owen: To the mall?
Me: No. Just wait. We’ll be there in a minute.
In line at the light to turn, he knows where we are!
Owen: THE PLAYGROUND!
He’s now tall enough to reach the bar without jumping! It was just this summer when he couldn’t reach!
