After school outside fun times

I lowered the bar so Katie could reach it to swing.

Then it was off to dig in the new grass. I redirected her to the stone pile. 🙂

20140331-213535.jpg

Then I looked away for a minute and she was over just laying in the grass, looking at grass or bugs or dirt or something.

20140331-213718.jpg

Then Owen was telling me stories.

20140331-213837.jpg

And being cute!

20140331-213909.jpg

And this video has Owen telling a story, interrupted with me trying to get a good picture (I can take pics while I’m recording) so you can see a little of what it takes to get a good picture of both kids (in reality I think I took about 10).

This was the lucky picture:

More swinging!

Seat stealer!

Super cute boy.

The pony returns!

I was sorting toys in the pod and Owen was running around with his light saber (he didn’t want to be too far from us). I’d have him run things in the house now and again. This time he was so cute carrying Katie’s pony—with his light saber—but of course I didn’t quite get the best picture. 🙂

And when I went in the house a few minutes later, I saw someone happy to have her pony back. 🙂

My efforts since 9am.

I’m exhausted but still need to get at least one more room done. Granted it would be more awe-inspiring had I taken Before shots…but egads were they embarrassing!

We took the glider and ottoman out to sell since we never use it, cleaned out all the stuff that was tossed in before the flooring install (books and toys), took out all outgrown clothes, actually vacuumed, and wiped everything down!

20140329-182518.jpg

We also took the screen door down so Charlie was very interested.

20140329-183406.jpg

And Katie was as well—she kept creeping upstairs to see what I was doing…

20140329-183427.jpg

She loves toys that she can reach now!

20140329-183453.jpg

Owen’s room wasn’t quite as messy, but his room was full of construction dust. 🙁 I also sorted some clothes and toys for the garage sale and prettied up the books.

The little stinker loves running water.

I was putting Katie to bed and heard running water. Huh? Turns out she had come upstairs on her own while Tom and I were outside (unloading the pod) and turned on the water in the jetted tub. It’s a good thing it just held mostly dirty towels and bath toys…but there was a new hair dryer (still in the box) that got soaked that I’m hoping will survive. Best I can guesstimate it was running for at least 20 minutes.

Lesson learned: Owen cannot be trusted to keep an eye on Katie—especially when he’s watching TV!

Beach Frisbee

Owen and Anna were bestest buddies!

Then Kathryn and Izzy were playing frisbee and Owen wanted to join! This is his catching stance.

Proof that his form actually works! He can throw pretty well!

I told him to write his name in the sand. You can see the normal-ish sized O right behind his feet…and then I told him he could do it a little bigger and so he’s drawing an O about three times his size (he’s finishing up the last of it). That’s as far as he got with his name before he lost interest. 🙂

And one year ago…the same cousins on another beach.

Nanny Alice, Day 1

Our friend Alice (actually a professional nanny—though usually for much older kids!) is staying with the kids while we go to Florida. The kids met her about two weeks ago when she came for two nights to meet them and Owen was excited to have her back.

This was the first picture we got on the road—some pre-nap cuddles!

Maggie and the kids enjoying the nice weather, the bubbles Alice brought, and playing swords!

She spoiled the kids with a fun dinner: Owen got a caterpillar hot dog and Katie got hot dog palm trees. Both got strawberry flowers:

20140303-204738.jpg

And she braved giving Katie yogurt:

My honest first thought was What is she doing to me? Now the kids are going to expect fun dinners all the time?! But my immediate next thought was Oh what a super special surprise that only Miss Alice does! 🙂
