Last trip to the beach!
Looking up at a plane going by. We saw lots of jets and planes and helicopters the whole week!
She didn’t go in the water much, but when she did, she did some STOMPING and SPLASHING!
The one thing she liked to do? Throw shovels full of sand into the water. Yes, kids are strange.

It was impressive watching the beach guys carrying in the chairs in the evening.
I can’t recall what the issue was, but she was cute as usual.
Someone was cold.
I love that she loves her B just like her brother. 🙂
Same zoo, different grandparents!
Now that Katie was older and would hopefully enjoy it more and maybe even remember it, we wanted to go to the zoo like we did last year. Gramma Jean and Grandpa David had gone earlier with Doug, Marie, Gabrielle, and Robert, so we took Grannie Lin and Papa!
Shortly after she started pulling the wagon…she fell…
And scraped both knees in the process. 🙁 Thankfully it was over quickly and she was back to herself.

Upon walking up and seeing ALL the birds, Owen says: That looks like a big bird party.

The kids were SO excited to ride on the train. Unfortunately, the train before us ran off the tracks so they were trying to get it fixed and we ended up having to wait almost another hour. We had debated getting our money back, but the kids would have been devastated…so we did our shopping first. 🙂

Post-kite fun on the beach!
Grannie had bought a ring/horseshoe toss game so they played that. I wrote in the sand. Katie played in the sand. Owen and daddy played with the glider. I took some artsy fartsy pictures. The men sat in chairs.

Gramma Jean had a kite that we took out for the kids. (We thought we had brought one but it turned out to be a glider instead of a kite.) The kids LOVED it!

They were a lot closer to shore this morning and they hung around for probably 10 minutes off and on!

Okay, a bit of randomness that I didn’t feel like composing separate posts about… 🙂
We decided to give Owen a haircut. We had asked him before we left if he wanted it cut or if he wanted to try and grow it out (with the condition that if he wanted to grow it out, he had to let me put gel in it for school) and he said yes, he wanted to grow it out. Okay, fine. Fast forward a few days and he decided yes, he wanted it short. That was fine by me, so Tom cut it. I didn’t get an actual after picture, but stay tuned until later in this post.

Grannie finds the coolest things!
She found color-changing straws so everyone had ice in their drinks at dinner! If you look closely, you can see Katie’s pink straw is turning purple and Owen’s blue straw is turning purple!

The boys went on a surprise trip…to pick out a new t-ball glove for Owen (since his practices start this week—he’s missing the first one while we’re gone). He was excited! They also got two balls to practice throwing and catching…and some baseball pants!
The kids like the pool better than the ocean.
And I wasn’t going to complain because that meant NO SAND. 🙂 We had lots of fun with the grandparents!
Katie had quite the aim with the water gun! She was a sneak, too—she’d hide it under the water until she got close enough to you to spray you! 🙂

My dad and stepmom are also in Florida for a few months—about six hours away. Since we couldn’t take enough time to stay with both sets of parents, my dad and Linda came over to stay for the week. After they arrived and came to our room, we decided to head down to the beach…

Night flyers and breaking rules
I had bought these night flyer toys back when we had a big yard (as they can fly up to 200′) but never used them—and our house isn’t really conducive to anything more than 10′—so figured a beach vacation would be the perfect opportunity. 🙂 Tom thought we should do them in the parking lot so they didn’t end up as garbage in the ocean…but after about 10-15 minutes or so, someone came out and told us we couldn’t do it in the parking lot due to liability. Whatever. We were pretty much done by then so we just went inside. But the kids LOVED them and had a great time!

I hate to wake a sleeping kid, but if we were to stay on any kind of a schedule, I had to.
She actually woke up quite easily and agreed to go see Gramma Jean. And that’s when it all fell apart. She was sitting with GJ, but gently wimpering and whining…which eventually turned into full-blown crying with tears and everything. Hoo boy. It went on and on and on. She didn’t want milk, the iPad, M&Ms, or her B. After a half hour, talk of going to the pool finally got her attention.

Last year the gang went to Fudpuckers while I stayed home to let Katie get a good nap. This year, we both went along.
They are known for the alligators…and I have to be honest and say they just creep me the hell out. /shudder
