Gee, what a surprise–Owen likes hot chocolate.

I tried to get him to try it a week or so ago and he flat out refused. REFUSED! I told him he loves chocolate and chocolate milk, and this was just was warm chocolate milk. Nope. I promised he’d love it. Nope. I promised him a piece of chocolate if he tried it. Nope.

/urge to throttle him

So today I was drinking some again and he said he wanted to try it.

And imagine that—he loved it. 🙂

Mystery Trip #6

First we had the beach with Gramma Jean. Second we did the playground. Third we did a movie. Fourth we did a different playground. Fifth was photos with Santa at the mall. I think that brings us to number six (though I should ask Owen—he’d know for sure!)—Jump In Jax, an indoor bounce arena. We met friends there for a play date and he was off like a shot. Luckily he takes care of himself because I have to stay near Katie to keep her corralled in the under 4 area.

Then I tried to at least get one picture of Owen. 🙂

I also had to have a little talk with Owen… He kept coming back to play in the toddler area with the blocks. Seriously? The kid I have to tell at least three times a day to stop jumping on the couch isn’t jumping on the bouncy things? I told him it’s okay for a few minutes—if he wants to come play with Katie—but otherwise he should be BOUNCING. We’ll see what happens the next time. 🙂

I hate waking a sleeping Katie.

I hate to ever wake a sleeping kid, but sometimes life calls for it. Unfortunately Katie doesn’t nap consistently so I can never make plans—or if I do, I might have to wake her up…like today. (One day she might only nap for an hour until 12:30, but the next day I have to wake her up at 2:10 in order to pick Owen up at school.)

Thankfully she’s happy when I wake her up—and usually hears me open the door and jumps up. Today, however, I felt even more guilty than usual because she was OUT. She didn’t even stir when I opened the door…or when I took TWO pictures (complete with sound and flash!)…

But then Owen came banging in the screen door and that did it. 🙂

So then it was off to our mystery trip!

He looks at this book every morning and every night.

This Lego Minifigure history book (LEGO Minifigure Year by Year: A Visual History) was a Christmas gift from Uncle Doug, Aunt Marie, and cousins Gabrielle and Robert—and he LOVES it! I’ll turn on his monitor in the morning and he’s flipping through pages. At night, that’s the book he wants me to “read” (I say “read” because he really just wants to flip through the pages and look at figures and ask me what their names are). Almost all of the figures he says “I want this for next Christmas.” 🙂

EDITED TO ADD THE FOLLOWING NIGHTS AS PROOF:

No loafers for Owen.

I really would like Owen to have a pair of nice shoes. I’m not talking uncomfortable dress shoes here—just a pair of loafers for outfits that don’t really look good with Crocs or tennis shoes. So today at Marshalls I found a totally cute pair of Cole Hahn (!) brown loafers for $16 (!). So tonight I had him try them on—and of course you have to exert just a bit of effort (moreso than tennis shoes or Crocs) to get them on your foot, so he wasn’t used to that (being he really only wears tennis shoes or Crocs!) and OH MY HEAVENS the whining was amazing. And of course his final (final? ha! immediate) verdict was they were too tight. And of course I have no idea if he just doesn’t like them or they really were too tight. I have a feeling he’ll never have loafers—he hasn’t yet, why start now? 😐

Apparently any sentence with “underwear” in it is a joke.

Owen was telling me lots of “jokes” at dinner—pretty much it was just any sentence he thought of with the word underwear in it. 🙂

“What about…the chocolate man was eating underwear?! Ha! You get it?”

“What about Spongebob and Squidward in their underwear?!”

There were about six more but of course I didn’t write them down as he was saying them…

Gymnastics birthday party!

Both kids had a blast today! Owen started on just the bounce house…

And Katie was having fun everywhere. She was a blur!

Owen was then busy running and jumping all over! I didn’t even try to get pictures!

She was really good—she just stopped at the top with no interest in the beam!!

The whole group!
