After an hour drive, the only bad thing about our free Vettix tickets are that we were in the bleachers in the sun. If we came again, we’d spring for actual seats…in the shade!!

It was hot…so Tom got me a margarita!

And the kids got Dipping Dots!

It was hot…so Tom got me a margarita!
And the kids got Dipping Dots!
And a nap with Katie.
And a cuddle with Owen.
I’m on library book 4. (I started and finished book 3, A Room Full of Bones, last night.)
If I didn’t know better, I’d think I just had a head cold. I’m stuffed up and I have phlegm. Still have the headache in the morning but Excedrin fixes that. Didn’t sleep great but I generally don’t. Overall I’m just TIRED and moving slow.
I’m excited (again) to be able to sit outside for a little bit—fresh air and a change of scenery. Plus I get to cuddle with Olive…
And watch her be cute and have fun in the yard. She loves laying on these inflatable sleds (for the waterslide).
The kids took a break from the slide to try and take Olive over to it. She made it to the side but hopped off once they set it down and tried to push her down the slide!
Candy, Anna, and I were working on some Vote YesWTHS reminder postcards today and we even roped the kids into helping (and they have better handwriting than we do)!
It was very weird having the kids sign theirs “class of 2027” and “class of 2030”!!!!
I really thought Olive might like the splash pad so we waited for a hot day and… NOPE. She did not like it at all.
She did like to drink from the spray for about 3 seconds but that was it.
Katie desperately wanted to bring Olive to the baseball game…so we let her.
And then look who ended up being Olive’s bed for most of the game?
And I’m so bummed—look what I noticed!! Olive is losing her olive on her paw.
Remember this is what it used to look like:
And then since she was with us, we had to find an outdoor patio to eat lunch after baseball… She was such a good girl!
Culver’s for lunch and Oberweis for dessert (to support the Woodland PTA 50)!!
Someone grew quite a few inches this year—first day vs. last day!
We all traveled to Normal for our neice Gabby’s Eagle Scout promotion! But first, dropping Olive at the sitter’s!
And then lunch, because we were at a Mexican restaurant!
Road trip + no devices = napping kids
And what Katie does during baseball.
Basically an empty park (there might be 30 guests here and that’s being generous—I’ve counted who I can see and it’s less than 30), perfect weather for me not going in the pool (it’s a measly 70°!), good music, a new book, and kids leaving me alone… I just wish they served margaritas!
Owen wanted me to drive him to a sleepover on the other side of the neighborhood. I told him to ride his bike.
Him: Umm huh?
Me: That’s how teenagers get around.
Him: blank stare
Me: It’s not raining or snowing or cold and you have everything in a backpack and it’s literally on the other side of the neighborhood.
Him: Oooookay, I guess.
but Olive keeps whining to get on my lap. I’ll allow it since these days don’t last forever.
She couldn’t stay still…
Time to wake up!
And I finally caught her in a big yawn!
And then Owen came home…
And look what she learned how to do today!! Nooooooooo!!!
Owen and Evan had a game afterward and Tom and Owen had to leave right from graduation.
As a school board member, Anna was able to hand her kids their diplomas.
Heading out to celebrate Evan and Aiden’s 8th grade graduation with dinner at Primo!
They are fun to listen to…but it was a good half hour too long (due to the teacher talking so much about irrelevant things).
I missed the first few games because of weather and Owen being sick…but today was gorgeous! And we won!
I also don’t take as many photos these days…so this is all you get!
Yes these will eventually taper off but right now she is just so damn cute.
Her first trip to the park! She needs to start getting used to her harness and a leash!
Anna let us borrow her cat sweatshirt.
Owen’s homeroom teacher, Mrs. Ancona. We love her. Pretend his eyes are open.
Which means they got puppy duty so I could get some work done in the office!
The kids took the overnight shift so were still with her in the morning.
We were trying to keep her awake so she’d sleep more at night…but she was so tired she fell asleep like this:
I loved Maggie fiercely and was devastated when we had to put her to sleep earlier this year. I knew we’d get another Boston Terrier eventually, but I wasn’t ready quite so soon (just over two months).
Emotionally I was okay but I was really enjoying having NOTHING to take care of (kids don’t really count as they mostly take care of themselves). Tom wasn’t thinking about that—he just wanted a puppy. But guess who’s going to be home with her ALL DAY EVERY DAY?! (You know if I would have told Tom I was getting him a new daily job he would have said oh hell no, right?!)
That said, I did kind of miss having SOMETHING around the house. And she IS super cute…I’ll give her that. This is the first photo we got of her:
We stopped in Normal on the way back and had dinner with Marie and Gabi!
Meeting Anna.
Katie was ready at 5am—she’s ALL about the egg hunt. And I think Owen is about over it.
And then the ever important opening and sorting process.
