I made Owen rest on the couch after taking Katie to school and he had to have Maggie lay with him. Good thing it’s not a problem to convince her. 🙂

Time traveling.
I have an app (Timehop) that shows me pictures from years ago, so every day I get to time travel. Some days are boring but some days have good options for a Then & Now (with recent photos I still have on my phone that match angles or hairstyles). Today was the latter. (Also, sometimes I share them on Facebook if it’s a perfect comparison; sometimes I don’t.)
She outgrew her baby fat.
One sickie, one shadow.

Grandma arrived and picked Katie up to hug her.
Gramma: I’m going to squeeze you until you fart.
Katie [obviously] didn’t fart.
Katie: Grandma, you couldn’t fart me!
Grauntie Marge wears a wig, but didn’t have it on yet first thing in the morning. After she put it on:
Katie: You have your big hair on!
Demonstrating his newly-learned martial arts moves to Uncle Rob via Skype:
Owen, pointing to Katie: Katie, be my assistant.
She eagerly got up and threw some punches and blocked some punches.
Katie: Do your feet kicks!
We were shopping at Nordstrom Rack and Katie was checking out the mannequins, lifting up the dresses—and she saw that there weren’t actual legs (they were just metal rods).
Katie: Mama! The mannequin has leg poles!
Katie: Mama, why are you wearing a belt?
Me: Because my pants are too big and the belt keeps them from falling down.
Katie: You could just wear comfy pants!
We were all in the car and Katie was trying to describe what she just saw flying.
Me: A bird.
Katie: No. It was white.
Me: A bird.
Katie: No. It had feathers.
Me: A bird.
Katie: No.
Owen: A goose.
Me: A goose is a bird.
Owen: A waterproof bird!
I laughed so hard over that that I actually cried. 🙂
Owen was reading Wimpy Kid.
Owen: “It was an 80 picture of Uncle Charlie.”
Me: What? Let me see.
He shows me—its “8 X 10.”
Owen: 8 times 10 is 80.
❤️ this kid.
My hard workers!
Bushes be gone!
Our bushes have been needing a major trim for quite some time but Tom has just been too busy. He promised me when his night class was over he’d take care of them. Well, he finished his class Tuesday night, so tonight he started trimming them. Katie and I were two doors down hanging with the neighbors. And then I turned around…and saw one entire overgrown bush completely GONE! He said once he started trimming it, all that was left was twigs! And we’ve never liked it, so he just pulled the whole thing out! (We would love to pull out the other ones as well but that’s a lot of work and a lot of expense to fill the space again.) Owen even helped clean up to earn some spending money.
Here’s a before picture (from an old blog post):
The boys and their tools. (Tom just let Owen hold the saw—he didn’t actually get to use it.)

Back at our water table.
I made him put together the water table.
I figure if he can do Legos for ages 14+ he can do this. And he did. 😀
Admiring his handiwork.

Marlins…in the rain.
It started off overcast and cool… We kept our fingers crossed but eventually it was raining. Not fun. But the kids were all doing great!
Katie had fun playing catch with daddy beforehand.
Montage of Owen’s at-bats and runs:
They did end up calling the game a little over an hour in because it was really coming down. So it was home for warm showers/baths and comfy clothes!
