Today is the first day I’m totally on my own with both kids. EEK!!

Blowing on Owen’s face
Bumpies!
Pulling out of the driveway… Owen: “Ooh, that was bumpy!” Seeing all the other similar driveways: “Look at all the bumpies!”
You can’t make this stuff up. 🙂
Owen’s first trike!
He never really liked ride-on toys. We tried a balance bike—he didn’t like (get) that at all. He showed no interest in a regular bike. So when I saw this trike for a steal, we thought we’d try it. It just might work…

Aside from pushing the bike around the house, this is his entire first experience (outside) with his new trike. I think we have a ways to go yet. 🙂
Don’t cry, mama.
Of course, being who I am, I was crying when (and after) my mom and aunt left. Owen noticed the tears on my cheek, pointed to them, and asked What’s that? I said they were tears and I was crying because I missed grandma and grauntie. He comes over to me, pats me on the shoulder, and says “Don’t cry, mama.”

Breast pump…or ear buds?
Listening to …???… on my breast pump. I love his imagination.

Big brother helped with Katie’s bath!
Owen helped with Katie’s bath tonight (if you can count touching her with the washcloth as helping!) and he counted her toes with Gramma Jean—he counted 7 on one foot and still came up with 10. 😀 He is getting closer to her each day and wants to keep her now.

My 3T is in 7s.
Owen is officially in size 7 jeans. He’s 3. 😮
We tried on size 6s and they’re a bit too tight at the waist. The 7s are about 8″ too long but fit well in the waist.
Hoo boy.
Family Bingo
Gramma Jean brought Family Bingo to try and play with Owen. He didn’t play so much as he found matches…which was close enough!

He likes Grauntie Marge’s bed!

Mama and Owen in the pool

And wearing the swim goggles Gramma Jean bought him…he wants to wear them but refuses to go under water with them. 🙂

Have fun, mama!
I had to run a few errands tonight. Owen asked where I was going and I said shopping. As I’m walking out the door he says “Have fun mama!”
He doesn’t even put his cars down when he naps!
On our way back from Costco…

Daddy & Katie

Cake face!

First Bath
She didn’t do too badly and we were MUCH more proficient this time around. 🙂

I’m floating! I’m comfy! I’m swimming!
He couldn’t seem to make up his mind what he was doing…but he was happy and it was all cute!

I have two Rod Torques!
Katie had given Owen a Rod Torque (“damaged” version) so when we gave him the one from Grannie Lin and Papa (the “undamaged” version), he ran around saying “I have two Rod Torques!”

Owen meeting Katie
“No take Katie home!”
So we were getting ready to leave the hospital. Owen hadn’t been thrilled with Katie (she’s loud when she cries!) but it wasn’t anything bad or worrisome.
Well, as it happened, he smacked his leg on the hard plastic side rails while he was getting off the bed so he was already whining a bit. And then Katie was crying because Tom was strapping her into the car seat…which was agitating Owen even more.
So as we’re walking out of the room, Owen starts saying stuff like “NO KATIE! No take Katie home! Leave Katie here!” and was actually trying to push the car seat back into the room.
😯
😥
And so the sibling love begins, we thought.
Thankfully by the time we got out to the car, he was okay.
Alphabet, numbers, and Dora
Owen has been loving the baby toys we’ve been unpacking…and has been super enthralled with this one. After a little while playing with it, he can now sing his alphabet! And we’re constantly amazed at how his mind works—towards the end he flips the language switch to Spanish and says “Dora!” ❗
Go back in the kitchen!
Me: Owen, can I sit next to you?
Owen: NO! GO BACK IN THE KITCHEN!
Mama, I have a big problem.
Owen (getting up from his nap): “Mama, I have a big problem. Points to diaper tab that has almost come undone. I broke it during my nap.”
Phew, that was scary but I’m okay.
Nothing much scarier then losing your balance/tripping when 8.5 months pregnant and trying to avoid landing on your child who is being obstinate and laying under you. 😐
I’m fine—with no idea how I actually fell or what exactly caused me to trip or how I managed to land without hurting myself or Owen in any way—but I scared the crap out of Tom who was downstairs and came charging up to see me on the floor swearing and Owen just standing there like nothing happened. Of course Tom yelled (not at Owen but just in general) at which point Owen THEN burst into tears…
Hopefully Owen learned he needs to listen to me…I had asked him to get in the bath and he was refusing by laying down in the hallway. I had counted to three and he didn’t budge, so I was getting up to pick him up…when the drama ensued.
Owen is 3 years 5 months today!

The Bargainer
Owen not wanting to take a nap: Can I have a story?
Tom: We’ll see.
Owen: But I had a nice haircut!
Tom: You’re right…you get a story!
Introducing Major Hudson!
Waiting in the Colonel’s office

Ceremony

Pinning
Tom had his best friend (and fellow Major) Tom pin one side and I did the other. The colonel lifted Owen up so he could see as well!
