I walked in the room to see this:
We’ve been debating selling the police car because Owen just never uses it—we practically have to force him to drive it. We mentioned selling it and he kinda freaked out saying he loved it. So we told him if he used it, we’d keep it. It would kill me to get rid of it since it was EXPENSIVE and he WANTED IT…but I hate to move it if he’s not going to use it (since there’s lots fewer places to drive it at the new place). I had hoped Katie would like it, but thus far she’s been mostly scared of it. So Owen got in it today…and had A BLAST. And after watching Owen in for about 20 minutes, Katie wanted to get in…and boy did they have fun.
Helping Katie with the speaker.
Awwwww!
The car was charging so the seats were out—so Katie hauled them around to sit on them.
Then daddy put them up here for a photo op. 🙂
Since Mother’s Day was spent house hunting/traveling, I officially declared MY Mother’s Day would be this weekend. 🙂 So our day started with a trip to Costco, Owen’s face-painting at the farmer’s market…and then since it was a GORGEOUS day, time spent outside using the deck/pool/yard/playset (we’re trying to use it as much as we can since we will have NONE of it at the new house)…
We were playing music outside.
Owen: DJ Shuffle is in the house!
Us: Whaaaaa?!?!
Owen hurt himself with that jump/landing, but felt a little better when I showed him the cool picture I got of him in mid air!
While we were outside, Tom went and got the mail…and my mother’s day present (that I ordered for myself!) had arrived! I LOVE IT SOOOOO MUCH! (It’s an 11×14 wrapped canvas.)
Then Tom grilled super yummy BBQ chicken (which Owen tried and liked!) and I made a huge batch of our favorite tomato and basil bruschetta and we ate on the deck!
And even though I got these from Owen awhile back (done at school), I forgot to post them, so there’s no better time or place than right now!
I love his answers! And he didn’t do too badly…though I can’t believe he said salad instead of any other number of things! 🙂
So overall I had a GREAT mother’s day do-over!
After yesterday’s water fun, we told the kids they could play outside in the water again since it was going to be nice—they just had to wait until after Katie’s nap. This was actually Katie’s first ever time in a sprinkler—and of course she LOVED it!
All three kids waiting to go outside! (Later, the cats were both sitting at the door!)
I didn’t really want to get wet, so I ran inside to get my telephoto lens. Ahhhh, much better!
It was at this point that Owen accidentally broke the sprinkler—he was attempting to jump over it but instead landed right on it. He wasn’t hurt but we told him that he had to be careful. Then Tom went over and determined that yes, it really was broken, so he turned the water off so he could unhook it while he went to look for a new sprinkler. And Owen lost his shit. He started crying and screaming uncontrollably. We tried to get him to tell us what was wrong (Was he really hurt? Was he mad at Tom? Was he just upset the water was turned off?) but he wouldn’t even quiet down enough to hear anything we were saying. We assured him he wasn’t in trouble and that it was an accident but he just wouldn’t settle down. We had about 10 minutes of what you see below. Tom did find another sprinkler and hooked it up and Katie kept trying to get Owen to come over to it, but he was still being a poop. It took another 10 minutes or so before he was finally back in the groove.
Someone loved playing in the mud puddles created by the sprinkler! 🙂
I was scurrying around after the kids’ [post-school] snack and heard lots of giggling. I came in to see this:
Owen and I went to the movies this morning (Frozen!) with friends of ours that are moving next week—Ruth (the one who helped me put up the lights and tree) and her daughter! We’re really going to miss them… Owen did pretty well at the movie—it was a sensory-friendly version which I don’t think he really needs anymore, but it’s at least $3pp less so we do go once in awhile. I think with the lights up and the sound down, he is actually more fidgety and doesn’t get as involved. I know I don’t get as involved because I hear the constant murmuring of all the other kids that aren’t paying attention and talking and running about…
But anyway, after the movie, they came over for sushi lunch (well, the kids had pizza bagels!) and then we went outside. Ruth just happened to have a pink baby swing in her car that she was getting rid of, so we hung it up! (I actually had one I hadn’t put up yet, so I just traded her for the pink one!) Katie liked it. Not loved it, but liked it. For a few minutes. 🙂
Owen getting tackled! He LOVED every second of it and was having a ball. He kept saying “Emily! I’m over here! Come get me!”
Emily tackling and then Katie attacking Owen once he was down!
Then he wanted to play Candyland so we got it set up and just let them play while we were in the other room talking. It apparently went well and soon we heard Owen saying “Congratulations!” 🙂
She loves the little chairs we have. She hauls them all over. Here, she’s trying to figure out how to get it up the step. Owen is singing in the background.
It went on for a good three minutes before I started recording.
