For as much as she wanted to color it, she didn’t do much (I did probably 95% of it). It’s back in the box now and she has no desire to put it together. Maybe we’ll get it out next year. #fail

If anyone ever buys us another puzzle like this, I will hand it directly back to you. 🙂
The kids recently got stuffed elephants from friends for Christmas. Katie has really enjoyed dressing them up.

Katie’s school had a family night with lots of fun games and activities.

Our side of the street doesn’t have sidewalks so our neighbors both snow blow paths.

I love what they come up with when I won’t let them use their devices or watch TV. This is our Christmas tree storage bag.

It’s amazing what she can do when I won’t let her watch movies or use the iPad. This is a birthday cake! She also did a very cool bracelet!

I had a whole bag of limes to juice so I let her at it. I did have to help a bit (making sure she got the juice in the cup) but she did really well!

She thinks she wants to play soccer again but she really has no idea what she’s doing. (She did play one season but never really had any good instruction.) So we enrolled her in a five-week beginning level class at the rec center and we’ll see how it goes.

This is how she played goalie—she had NO idea. She’d just watch the ball roll by into the goal.

I didn’t mean for the flash to be on and we both shut our eyes. 🙂

This is what happens on the last day of holiday break.

After the movie the kids were playing downstairs. First they came up to show us some dance moves they’d been working on. Later we heard them giggling and laughing uncontrollably and we wondered what on Earth could possibly be happening. And then they came crashing upstairs, giggling all the way.
Oh. My.
They were dressed in each other’s clothes—Owen in Katie’s new pink jacket, pink kitty hat, and her Beauty and the Beast Belle heels…

And Katie in his hat and oversized coat.

But the sight of Owen in those shoes hobbling across the floor (obviously only his toes fit in so it was nearly impossible for him to walk!) and listening to them giggle made Tom and I both lose it.
Apparently it takes popcorn and a movie to get them cuddling today. (Owen hasn’t wanted to watch this—My Little Pony—said it was a girl movie. But he’s really into it.)

Traitor!

Well that didn’t take long.

Trying to edge in

The girls did makeup and nails… The makeup wasn’t too caked on and Katie was very proud of her ladybug nails.

They were both super excited to have Sophia and Enzo over today after not having seen them for almost two weeks.

A gift to Katie from a well-meaning aunt. While Katie does love puzzles, of course she doesn’t have the attention span for this (hell, I barely do) but she really wants to color it. If it was up to me I’d just throw it in the trash (well I’m not an idiot, I’d give it away). But guess who will end up doing it all?? Her face just about sums it up for me too. 😂

A friend is going to come help Friday.

She also pretends they’re high heels (the thumbs are the heels).
Katie has been obsessed with bingo lately so we all played tonight. She knows all the numbers so it’s good practice!

We had promised the kids we’d take them shopping after Christmas to spend some of their birthday money/gift cards. (We’d postponed shopping due to the move and then we just forgot about it but when I took them Christmas shopping for each other they both obviously wanted to shop for themselves.)
I went with Katie and Tom went with Owen. They each had $35 to spend. Katie kept trading items out of the cart as she found stuff she liked better. It took her a bit to understand that she couldn’t just get everything she wanted. I had to guide her a little bit but she did well.

She loves being a mermaid. (This was a last-minute purchase that was her entire budget but she also had an expensive doll she really wanted. So to make my life easier, I let her get both and now she has used up all of her Target gift cards as well!)

I wasn’t thrilled about this huge animal but I was thrilled it wasn’t a 200-piece Shopkins set. She also got a huge 24″ Barbie-type doll so all of her gift cards are now gone (she had Target ones as well but since she went over budget, they’re now mine!).
Owen bought a bunch of random smaller stuff that I’m sure will be played with for a week and then lost. 😂 But he was happy today!

So I come downstairs and Katie says “Mom! Guess what I’m doing? Playing with ornaments!” And yep, she has taken all “her” ornaments off the tree (Olaf, Elsa, Anna, Sparty, Doc McStuffins, Sofia).
I know in the grand scheme of things it’s not a big deal but seriously?! She has a thousand toys plus all the stuff she just got for Christmas and she HAS TO TAKE ORNAMENTS OFF THE TREE TO PLAY WITH?!
Kids. 😣
2013 and 2017

Taking a quick break from playing outside and I had to snap a quick pic of her beautiful face.

The kids were sleeping with us in the basement for the last two nights. We tried to put them to bed around 9:30 but Katie was still awake when we came down around 11. And she was excited to tell us she put on red and green lights for us. 🙂
