I had grand plans of hiring a photographer to take a real family portrait before Tom left…but that obviously never happened. So I had to make do with a last-minute haphazard couch photo shoot before we went out for dinner.

7:42—Happy! Loving her barrette and playing with my hair clip.
7:49—Not happy. I simply and calmly said “No no Katie” when she tried to take out her barrette. She screeched for a good 2-3 minutes until Owen came over to her and started messing with her and made her laugh.
Sometimes she’s actually happy in the mornings!
She loves to crawl up and plop down/squeeze in right next to you no matter where you’re sitting or how much room there actually is.
Which means it’s about time to get rid of it (return it to our friends)…
I discovered today that she likes garbanzo beans!
And eating out of a bowl still needs work.
She was even more wobbly at first—even holding my hand she was tripping over her own feet—but it didn’t take her long to get better:

And then attempts #3 and #4 were both within about the next six minutes.
And then I was done.

Today she just started walking across rooms like it’s cool. She still drops to crawl a lot, but she can definitely walk if she thinks about it. And it’s terribly cute. 🙂
Of course, I didn’t have my phone on me all the times she did it…so I’ll definitely get a video tomorrow!

Owen enjoys it when she does this. Me, not so much. Yes, it’s cute…but CAN I PLEASE HAVE TWO MINUTES OF PEACE? And it pulls my hair.
It’s a good thing she’s adorable. 🙂
So it might look a little like dragging and throwing at times… 🙂
Our mommy play group schedule is off a little in the summer so basically someone just says “Hey, we’re headed to the beach!” or “Come on over…I’m getting out the water slide!” So today I had the group over for a pool party! We even had a new dad join our group!! (Ironically, it turns out he lives two streets over from us! This was the first group event he came to.)
It’s impossible to get five kids in a pool to stay still for a picture!

And Katie did REALLY well! I was going to put her down for her nap around 11 when people arrived…but she wasn’t really tired so I put her in her cage 🙂 and she was happy enough and did really well until about 12 when she got hungry and then I put her down about 12:30 (and she napped until 4!).

She switches from stinker to sweetie (and back) so quickly it’s hard to snap a photo. This was the best I could do while she was being sweet and cuddly for six seconds.
