Katie was perfectly happy sitting on daddy’s lap!
Some of it was a little loud for Owen, but overall he did really well and wasn’t bothered by it. (Which is awesome since when we tried this two years ago, he lasted about two minutes.) Katie never even flinched at ANY of the noise!

Our seats—quite a bit different than the up-front row we had before, but it worked out just fine as it wasn’t quite as loud.

All of a sudden Owen went from super happy to super cranky when we needed to take the picture.
Oh well. Katie was happy!
So a good time was had by all! I’m glad Owen got to enjoy it after missing out on it the last time, I’m glad Tom was able to go with us, and I’m glad Katie was amazing and just sat/stood on Tom’s lap the entire time! (Afterwards Owen said he was sad that the characters didn’t come up to him—a few of the characters came down the aisles about six rows during one song—and we told him they just didn’t have the time to come see everyone! Poor kid.)
A walk with daddy
Tom had today off so he took Owen to school…and then later we went on a walk! After she stepped in every small puddle, sat in the dirt and played with acorn tops (they fit perfectly on her fingers), handed said tops to daddy to take home, and watched the ducks…she got a shoulder ride to the top of the hill!
I asked her to put away her toys.

Happy Easter 2014!
So Owen was up early with Tom as usual and told Tom that there was an R2-D2 downstairs. That’s one of the “eggs” we hid, and Tom knew he hadn’t been downstairs so was perplexed as to how he knew about it. So he had a talk with him about lying. But Owen claimed he wasn’t lying so Tom finally said “Okay, show me.” And Owen took him to the landing which overlooks the entryway…and part of the toy room where Katie’s changing station is…where Tom had, in fact, placed an R2-D2 on the corner in plain sight!! Mr. Eagle Eyes strikes again!!
Then, surprisingly, when we headed downstairs, he completely missed the egg on the windowsill on the landing…Katie actually saw it as she was coming down (in video).

She found about three eggs and then she was done—she was opening them and eating the candy as fast as she could!
We tried to get a double bunny ear picture but it wasn’t happening. This was all we got. 🙂

Overall it was a great success! I think they missed a few eggs so they’ll find them throughout the day. And while candy and chocolate was their pre-breakfast snack, they didn’t do too badly!
The kids helped me make cookies!
Nothing intensive…just a quick sugar cookie bag mix that I got on clearance at Target. I figured that was our speed. 🙂
I gave Owen the option of making colored cookies and he wanted blue (his favorite color)!
After we finished the first tray, there was still a bit left, so Owen made these four—“One for each of us!” 🙂

We took the kids down the fish aisle at Walmart…and both of their reactions were “Woooow!” 🙂
I really hope we have a good spot for a small aquarium at our next house (we already own it).
Family time at the park!
Tom has a 96 (Friday through Monday off) so we took the kids to the park.
This is as high as he’d go.
“Daddy, how high can you go?” Tom pretty much just jumped straight to the top. 🙂
Tom wanted to help Owen but Owen was freaked out and wanted NO part of it.
After swinging on the toddler swing and the big kid swing, she wanted to try this one.
For some unknown reason, Owen is way more freaked out about slides than when he was little. This was his second time down—after he made me catch him the first time.

We got the new frame today and Tom put it together. Of course, the kids love it because it’s still low enough for them to get on.
Who knew a PB&J would be such a hit?
We went out for a sushi dinner and I made half a PB&J for Katie hoping she’d eat it. BOY DID SHE EVER! She loved it! She’d take a bite, set it down, have a drink…it was adorable!
She also saw Owen try soy sauce (we dipped a clean chopstick in it) so she had to try, too. Then she dipped it in eel sauce off our plate and LOVED it.
Here she is just being cute at the end of the meal.
Daddy’s Hat
I had hoped she’d come closer but she didn’t so I had to crop—hence the graininess.
The best I could do with the limited apps (and my limited skill) on the phone. In the original his face was so dark you couldn’t see much.
Multitasking
Easter break park play date!
I told Owen we were going to the park and he was really excited. Then I told him who would be there (the core group of moms and kids from my mommy group) and he got EVEN MORE excited and said “My friends!!!!”
The other kids were super excited to see him, too—we really haven’t all been together (on a playdate) since before school started!
Running around with another group of boys who were playing shooting games. 🙂
Then everyone ate snacks/lunch at the pavilion and then it was time to head home for Katie’s nap.
This was the best I could get as we were leaving the park!

Morning chatterbox
Our long walk on the first day of Easter break!
It was a gorgeous morning—about 70°, sunny, and breezy—so we went for our first long walk together! (Normally Katie and I just go up and down our street or to the golf course. I never get to walk with just Owen anymore.)
I tried to get a picture but Katie wasn’t cooperating.
Katie took a tumble while trying to run down the hill like big brother, but she was no worse for the wear. 🙂
At the top of the hill on the golf course (Owen used to play a lot here back in the day). He kept warning Katie not torun down the hill and to stay out of the golfers’ way. 🙂

Anyone want to go swimming in the community pool? I can’t imagine using the same water that’s been sitting in it since last summer and is now dark brown…? I know there are chemicals and stuff…but still. Barf.

Shreeping with Owen
She loves to crawl into any bed. Today he wanted to get in with her! She wasn’t thrilled. 🙂
Someone wanted bunny ears this morning.
I was in her closet putting stuff away when I heard “Bunny please. Bunny please mama.” Huh? Oh!!! She saw the bunny ears on the floor of her closet!
