I was going to the bathroom.
Katie: I wanna go potty.
Me: You want to go potty?
Katie: Yes!
Me: Okay, take your pants off.
Katie: NOOOOOO!!!
While playing in the front yard, a car goes by pretty fast.
Katie: WATCH OUT! WATCH OUT!
I was getting Katie dressed and she leaned over to hug me.
Katie: I’m sad.
Me: Why.
Katie: I miss daddy.

Owen didn’t want to get out of bed again so Katie jumped in with him. 🙂
Another hot day, another day in the pool.
I’m letting the kids spend every possible moment in the pool since we won’t have it quite so convenient when we move… It was SO hot today I even got in! 🙂
And a sleeping Katie. 🙂
Kitchen Duty
I had zero energy yesterday so I made up for it today. Among other kitchen duties like emptying the dishwasher, reloading it, and cleaning up…I made my first batch of pesto!
And salmon schmear. Mmm.
Katie even liked it. 🙂
A bubble morning!
Gardening girl + ride along + kittens
We went to a friends house for a play date and Katie grabbed the gardening gloves and shovel. 🙂
And enjoyed being driven around…
She also managed to get up into and out of the trampoline (using the stepstool) which nearly gave me heart failure.
Then she got to pet a kitten (they have a few strays that they feed) and she loved it—“Kitty cat! Kitty cat!”
Then she got up on the swing herself but needed me to push her. 🙂
You can’t beat a great morning spent with friends.
Our late (yet still typical) morning
Owen and Katie both slept in this morning, and Owen really didn’t want to get up at all so I had Katie dressed before he even got out of bed…and she was sitting there saying “C’mon Owee!”
“Mama! Take a picture!” So I did and only realized afterwards I had to edit it. 🙂
Then just when I finally had him dressed, she crawls into his bed to pretend to sleep (one of her favorite things).
Our day at the beach!
We are not beach people. Yes, we live somewhat close (45 minutes) so maybe we should be, but we just never go. Things get busy at home on the weekend and it’s a bit of work to go (toys, towels, snacks, drinks, diapers, wipes, yada yada yada) so we end up just staying home. But since we’re moving soon and we know the kids love the beach, we thought we’d treat them! Unfortunately, most of our beach toys were packed away, so we made do with some bath and pool toys, a big bucket, and a kids garden rake and shovel.

Tom dug a small hole for Owen and Katie immediately got in it.

Then we took a break and had lunch!
It took a few hours but she was FINALLY super comfortable in the water!
Owen made friends with some kids who were building this.

Katie’s New Tricycle
Katie liked bikes. However, the regular tricycle we already have is too big for her. The big-wheels-type tricycle we bought for her was too big (so we returned it). We tried a seated scooter thing that she hated so that went back, too. So we finally found a bike that she fits! Now, the challenge is to get her to ride it!

We had a showing today for a potential renter, so we just took the kids out back in the pool. Of course, they had a blast.
Then Owen was being crabby about something so Tom decided to do this and more fun ensued:

We’ve been debating selling the police car because Owen just never uses it—we practically have to force him to drive it. We mentioned selling it and he kinda freaked out saying he loved it. So we told him if he used it, we’d keep it. It would kill me to get rid of it since it was EXPENSIVE and he WANTED IT…but I hate to move it if he’s not going to use it (since there’s lots fewer places to drive it at the new place). I had hoped Katie would like it, but thus far she’s been mostly scared of it. So Owen got in it today…and had A BLAST. And after watching Owen in for about 20 minutes, Katie wanted to get in…and boy did they have fun.

The car was charging so the seats were out—so Katie hauled them around to sit on them.
Then daddy put them up here for a photo op. 🙂

Katie’s smarts always amaze us
Katie’s ball rolled under the cabinet and she was whining because she couldn’t reach it. Tom told her to use the light saber to get it out. That’s all he told her…and she figured it out on her own!
She eventually needed help, but we were both amazed that she understood and figured out what to do!
Our 4-minute morning walk
On the way home from taking Owen to school Katie started saying she wanted to watch a movie (her newest favorite thing) so I brought up a walk to distract her. It only worked for a total of two minutes down the road (so four minutes total counting the return trip—or not even two driveways).
And of course a big smile when she saw herself!

How Owen helps Katie down the slide
Katie wanted to get off the playset so I kept telling her to go through the tube and down the slide. She wanted me to get her down. No, Katie, through the tube and down the slide. She eventually made it to the slide then just sat there like this, pouting. 🙂
Then Owen “helped” her. Which is basically flinging her down the slide under the guise of holding her hand. And she doesn’t care one bit. 🙂
Owen’s last GI appointment!
We hadn’t been in a few months because Owen has been doing well, but we thought we’d better go for one last checkup before we move.

And then the doc examined Owen and said everything felt great—and was excited to get a good report on Owen!
I told him we were moving and asked what we needed to do and he said just keep doing what we’re doing—the Miralax every day, the P fruits, and cleanouts as necessary. I asked how long we needed to continue the Miralax regimen if things keep improving and—are you ready?!—he said at least another year or two. Maybe three. EEK! I guess it’s better than the alternative, though…
He also said he’s always here if we want to come back and see him, but he’s sure we could see someone up around DC if we really needed to.
So…YAY OWEN!

When you’re getting out of the shower and hear this, you’re not sure whether to be scared or what…but Owen sounded excited so I figured it couldn’t be too bad.
He ran into Katie’s room, pointing!!! Yep, he had tossed the BIG bear in there! And she loved it!
And he was SO excited!

Katie was swinging and Owen asked if he could, too. (Of course he doesn’t need to ask but he does.) This wasn’t quite what I expected:
Then he was all about pushing Katie. He’s never really wanted to before…so…YAY!

I’m glad they’re enjoying the swings…but why did Owen have to start liking them NOW? A year after we got the playset and a month before we have to sell it? See? The guilt. 🙂
Bug watching
Owen found a roly poly out in his playset and asked if he could bring it up. Of course! Then it fell off the table and Katie got involved…and excited! 🙂
Then Owen had to go put him back so his mom and dad wouldn’t miss him. 🙂
