I hate being up at 6am.

I hope this morning is not going to be an indicator of the day.

My phone alarm didn’t go off this morning (I have a haircut at 7:30am) but luckily I woke up.

Then, since I had to pee on a stick yesterday and just assumed I had to do it 10 days in a row (that’s what happened the last time), I peed on the stick without turning on the monitor first…and oops, I didn’t have to pee on a stick, so now the number of sticks I have is off, and if I have to do this one more month, I will be one stick short, meaning I have to spend $30 to buy another pack. This is the first morning since I started the monitor that I didn’t check the stupid thing first. Serves me right, I guess.

THIS is exactly why I should not be up this early. I hate early mornings.

I need to learn how to cut my own bangs.

So I went to my stylist today to get my bangs professionally cut… I can attempt a hack job myself, but it’s just that—a hack job. It gets them shorter, but it doesn’t necessarily look the best. And since we’re heading to a wedding this weekend, I figured I needed them looking better than if I tried cutting them.

But what a freakin’ racket!

For approximately 45 seconds worth of work (maybe two minutes if you count her walking to the back to get a cape, putting the cape on, cutting, taking the cape off, walking me to the front, writing up the bill, and saying thank you and goodbye) it cost me…are you ready???

$10!!

It used to be $5, which is why I didn’t really have a problem with it. I mean, an entire haircut and style with her is $25…but cutting my bangs in under a minute is $10?

Grrrrrrrrr.

A New Haircut

It was time for my regular trim, but I decided I wanted something different. I’m too scared to do anything TOO different, so I told her what I was thinking and we decided to do toddler steps (just a bit more daring than baby steps) and it didn’t turn out too badly. Tom loves it, our neighbor Cindy loves it, and Jane and Dick both said they love it. I don’t love it (yet?!) but I like it, so it’s all good. We just gave me some layers on the sides and some in the back (that you can’t see).

Haircut

haircutWell, I got my hair cut tonight because I was just generally tired of it being long—it was getting harder to style, it wasn’t as easy to keep straight, and it got snarly WAY too easily—but I’m not sure how I like it. I mean, it’s okay—and I did ask for it short—but it turned out a bit shorter than I planned on. (She said “So, four inches?” and I said “Yeah, about to the bottom of my chin.” Which turned out to be more than four inches. So, she did what I told her, but I should have listened to her!) Tom says I look younger (I wasn’t really going for that, but okay) but I just think my face looks fatter (definitely NOT what I was going for). I just hope I can style it okay myself—I haven’t styled this short of a hairstyle in quite some time. Yes, I straighten it the same way as I did long hair, but it will be curlier/springier now that it’s shorter and not weighed down. I know it will take some time (as usual) to get used to it…but I think it will be perfect in another inch or so. Here’s keeping my fingers crossed!!
