A TiVo member was going to be passing through on a road trip so we all gathered for dinner! It was so great seeing them after almost a year and a half!

I’ve just about had it with the pantry being a hot mess so I requested Tom start on the shelves. A few days later —voilá!
I still have to organize it more and the other cabinets need to be done, but…YAY!
I brought Owen to the pool and not Katie because she was a complete shit earlier and she needs to learn that bad behavior is not rewarded. #momballs as Anna says.
Also? Anytime my preteen wants to jump in a selfie with me I’m taking it.
Tom was out fishing with the dads and I envisioned a relaxing morning watching movies with the kids. Ha. Hahahahahahah.
Instead I spent the entire morning cleaning up dog pee…Maggie peed through Katie’s comforter and sheets and thankfully we have Waterproof mattress protectors otherwise the mattress would have been done for.
She also peed outside our door. And had peed earlier this week that I didn’t get out the Rug Doctor for. The worst part is she also got Charlie’s cat bed so that needs to be washed and Katie is so angry that the bed will no longer smell like Charlie.
Since I had to clean all that l just cleaned the whole upstairs hallway plus half of our bedroom (lots of cat hairball vomit stains). And I needed to do the entrance to each kids room because it’s just filthy. I showed them the gray water so they can hopefully understand.
Oh, and anyone want to guess just how many colors I found on Katie’s carpet once she picked up all her crap so I could clean the pee?! I swear I’m about to rip the carpet out and just leave her with wood floors.
Finding ice cream wrappers under the sink in the basement bathroom.
Thankfully David and Anna let us put them in their RV to take home so we could keep them full length!
Anna and I went shopping in Copper Harbor and while she ran back into a store I looked down and saw my odometer said 9999.9 and I was suuuuuper excited that I caught it! So I was taking pics of it so I’d remember where we were… And then realized that that was the TRIP odometer and the actual odometer was already past 10,000. Lordy.
We got here at 4:30 and it’s still crazy busy and not many seats left in the shade. There’s not much social distancing going on except the people seated in the grass.
But sitting in the shade with the breeze blowing and knowing the kids are having fun and listening to happiness all around me makes my heart happy that we are actually able to be here.
Kim had stopped by with her boys to see if Katie wanted to go get ice cream with them (her oldest, Tommy, a first grader, has a crush on Katie and wanted to ask her). Katie had a friend over so Kim said she’d just go pick up some ice cream for everyone. So everyone enjoyed some ice cream on the porch!
Her youngest (and my birthday twin) was just living his best life!
He built and installed two corner posts to hang a shade sail (and more party lights) from. Eventually we’ll get a bit bigger shade to cover the whole deck.
He was creative since regular 4x4s (and all lumber) is crazy expensive right now (plus they were all wonky) so he used steel beams covered in cheaper wood!
Tom was getting rid of some random wood pieces…and it got a little crazy.
Before it gets too hot and/or buggy!
From little things like hanging light fixtures and fixing cabinet drawers to big things like building pantry shelves or building a table, he can do it all.
This was his most recent project — now that we’re in our forever home and Owen has been upgraded to a Queen bed, I wanted him to have a cool headboard. I found about what we wanted…and Tom built it!
Owen loves it!
And here’s some pics before the lights went on!
And while we were out here, her son (same grade as Owen but they never met before) was in playing with the kids!
I’ve been wanting to do my H wall ever since we moved in but it always just seems so overwhelming.
When I did this at the last house I knew it was only temporary so I really didn’t care where things went on the wall and I would just put them up without much thought. But since this is our forever house I really don’t want to be changing things if I can help it so I wanted to make sure everything was perfect. And of course that leads to procrastination and anxiety.
Linda and I were supposed to do it the last time they were here but I just procrastinated. This trip she wanted to make sure we got something accomplished so…
It’s obviously not finished – the blue painter’s tape square is where that wooden H goes (that’s sitting on the buffet) once Tom is finished with it and makes a frame for it. And of course there’s space for more Hs that I run across.
So it’s getting there!!
Katie loves her stuffed Charlie but she leaves it all over and freaks us out.
Linda had never had jello shots…so we figured why not?
Since there are no bugs out yet and the weather is nice, we leave the sliding glass door open so Maggie can go in and out at her leisure… Otherwise she begs us to go out about 42 times a day.
But then this happens. She hasn’t ventured off the deck yet so we figure we’re safe for a while.
It didn’t really take that long overall—we just had some bumps along the way that extended the timeline. Now we use it for a few weeks and make sure it isn’t leaking…and then we can get the hole in the ceiling fixed!
All of us moms have been fully vaccinated so decided a Cinco de Mayo get together was called for!
It was SOOOOOO great to feel somewhat back to normal!
This is the happy face of someone who got to sleep with the windows open last night, initially woke up around 5am to the smell of a pork butt on the smoker, fell back asleep until 8, and now smells something delicious coming from downstairs.
Anna always has a full vase on her island (sometimes fake, sometimes real) and I love it, so I bought a cool vase and bought a bouquet at Sam’s Club.
Except it wasn’t.
WOMP WAH.
Our contractor came over to check Tom’s work and there was a slight issue that had to be redone…so no shower yet.
Tom went and picked up the second shed today plus everything he needed at Home Depot…and now we have these!
Just like Anna and I had to learn to always get a cart…
This car is big but not THAT big. One shed barely fits (the tailgate is open) and definitely no room for the second one.
HAHAHAHAHA. We’ve learned our lesson over the months—always ALWAYS get a cart.
It’s crazy to shop with two enablers.
We just ended up splitting the bill since we are still eating together 5-6 nights a week. We’ve both discovered that we love crowdsourcing meals!!
