My mom friends have been doing ninja porch drop offs with random gifts every so often (it’s hilarious what some will do to try and avoid the Ring)!! And I’ve been wanting to return the favors but just couldn’t come up with the right thing. Then I hit on these tumblers. It took awhile to decide on the perfect saying but once I found this one I knew that was it! (Piper Lou has great stuff and great deals, BTW.)
Needless to say we’re all looking forward to using them together again this summer!
Katie has been begging to go back to gymnastics class so when they finally opened, we had to go in to get her evaluated (since it’s been two years since she finished her class). She picked up most of it pretty quickly.
Today I learned that some of my socks have definitive letters on them for (L)eft and (R)ight. Huh.
We had not planned to send the kids back to school but due to unforeseen circumstances, we changed our minds.
This is definitely not what we had anticipated for his first day of middle school but we’re rolling with it!
And waiting at the bus stop! Normally his stop would be in front of our house but with remote learning plus hybrid and whatnot, everything is abnormal.
The kids were super excited to get back to the pool! They haven’t been in lessons in over a year, but they both got right back into it like pros.
We all decided to go out Pokemoning and I felt guilty about leaving Maggie so I bundled her up in a blanket and brought her with us. She loved it. She just curled up on my lap the whole time.
Anna is running for school board so asked for help passing out fliers. Angela and I did a few neighborhoods today—she drove and I delivered! I was surprised how tired I got!
This was our proof to her that we were actually doing it!
She was asleep in Tom’s chair in the sun as I sat down on the couch with the blanket. Within 30 seconds she had popped her head up and came over to cuddle with me.

But man are they filling!! The kids even got into sharing them—we cut each one into four so we can all try every one! (This is a special treat. They aren’t local… but we picked them up locally through DwellSocial.)
Owen decided he wanted to start clearing up his face so we’re doing all the things!

Yes, that’s Tom Hudson in a beard. Since he’s done with work as a Marine, he doesn’t have to shave every day…so this happened. I kinda liked it so he kept it for a change of pace but then he had to go on base for his vaccine today so it had to come off. He was happy to get rid of it because he didn’t like it…but I made him let me at least take a picture.
And then he made me take one with him… With a naked face!
Maggie has been sleeping with Katie more often and this is how Tom found them this morning.
WOOHOO! This is the first day we’ve given power back to the grid! It really helps once all the snow and ice melts off the panels!

We had brunch with Anna and David today and they brought their dog, Honey. She’s a great dog and we love her but she wants to play with Maggie and the cats and they want NO part of it. Charlie actually lasted fairly long in her bed but eventually she snuck up the stairs and just sat there. She RARELY goes upstairs so you know she wasn’t herself.
So we’ve hated the Bosch dishwasher ever since we moved in. I mean it’s a decent dishwasher but the layout just didn’t work for us. Tom jokingly told me HELL NO WE’RE NOT SPENDING MONEY ON SOMETHING THAT ISN’T BROKEN. But it was bad. And I hated it. Every single day.
We knew the brand we wanted (ever since we bought a KitchenAid for our Jacksonville house) but Tom still gave me shit. But it eventually wore him down and he finally got on board and said we could get one when it went on sale—but in the middle of Covid no one had it! It was advertised but they weren’t in stock and you couldn’t order it. So I just kept checking. And then a few months later, Costco had a really good sale so I bought it immediately. It took two weeks but it was so worth it. It’s amazing. And Tom tells me every day how much he loves it.
I love it when I’m right.
There is a little learning curve to loading it but it’s already sooooo much better than the other one!
After the boys did their Matrix we wanted to try one, too. The only thing we found that we really all agree on was Cherry vodka and pop. So you can see our 7×4 matrix below. Probably half of them were beyond awful so we had just the tiniest sip and dumped them. One vodka was definitely the best (Oma’s) and one was the worst (Effen).

We have been loving Hello Fresh so we thought we’d try a bit cheaper alternative. It would have been perfectly fine had we started with that one and not Hello Fresh. We are really spoiled by all the ingredients for all the meals being separated into bags…because when we opened this box and saw a completely jumbled mess of food Tom and I looked at each other like WHAAAAAT IS THIIIIIIS?!
So we had to split it all up and bag it so we could just grab a bag and go. It wasn’t hard but…like I said, we were spoiled.
The good thing about having snow on the deck? Extra freezer space. The bad thing? Out of sight, out of mind. Whoops! (We let it defrost in the fridge and it was perfectly delicious the following night!)
