I never nap. Like legit almost never. But this morning was one of those rare times. So what happens?
Let’s just say this is the look of someone who had probably only been asleep for five %#@$ minutes when an unnamed 9yo decided to wake me up to ask where her dad was. Because obviously I’d know since I WAS SLEEPING.
I told her I didn’t know. And guess where he was? About 10’ away in the kitchen. AYFKM?
WHYYYYYYY?!?!!!
Watching TV over at Anna and David’s…and this happens. Honey loves her Mr. Tom.
Seriously though, look at that TONGUE!
I love me some skincare. So every few months (okay who are we kidding, it’s usually 4-6 months) I try to schedule some self care. (I also usually try to buy salon gift cards when they’re on sale!)
Today was a Hydrafacial + chemical peel + brightening treatment + relaxing music + a warm blanket for an hour and I swear I almost fell asleep. And now my face feels amazing and I’m glowing.
When was the last time you did something JUST for YOU?
Today marks the day 25 years ago (!) that we met (and knew we’d get married)!
Please tell me mine aren’t the only ones that do this? Come home, kick off shoes, and leave door open? I did give Owen major props for bringing in the packages but c’mon boy — it’s winter. Close the damn door! (Katie does this, too. Today was just Owen!)
This is happening—only 23 years after the fact. I’m really only watching it because my friends said it was good and they were all amazed I hadn’t ever seen it. I didn’t think it was THAT crazy so I posted on Facebook and, while I was still in the minority, I wasn’t alone!
She loves to be with us so we take her whenever we go to Anna and David’s. She lives being wrapped in a cozy blanket.
First world problems, people — my super amazing nail lady (and client!) is starting a new and wonderful career to become an RN so I’m going to have to trust someone else now…
I’ll miss her but I’m so happy and excited for her!
Katie helped me get the Blessing Bags started! Now I’m just waiting for a last shipment to arrive so we can finish the last 15 bags!
Edited to add: I just realized I never posted about this. I’ve been wanting to do an event like this for years but I just never could get it going. So this year I just decided to do it! And it was a great success!
So I let her pick the color and apply it herself and she did a great job! But then she didn’t want her picture taken…
Y’all. I did a thing!! I did my first real SMOKY EYE for a date night!
I probably could have made it a bit more smoky but I think I did pretty well considering all of these colors are outside my comfort zone!

With both the not-even-really-a-preteen-yet girl and the newly-minted teen boy.
Thankfully today isn’t one of them (yet?) but I thought this was too good not to post—it’s funny because it’s true.
About two weeks ago I dropped my phone behind the bed. Tom managed to get it out but unknowingly unplugged the bed (it has USB ports in it so it needs to be plugged in) so nothing is charging and no cables work. I’ve not even been charging my phone at night because I haven’t wanted to figure it out.
Fast forward to last night when I thought I had FINALLY gotten a cable working. Aaaand no. And then I dropped my phone BEHIND THE BED AGAIN. Not reachable at all.
So I got super pissed and rage pulled the nightstand away from the bed. I knew I’d pay for it today and yep, my back hurts. I hate being old and broken.
And yes, I also hate all the cords but they’re generally hidden.
Tonight I did a little shopping from my own stock for things I am running out of… Color Correcting Tinted Moisturizer, Buff Foundation, Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Serum, Advanced SenePlex+ Renewal Serum with Retinol, Digital Age Defense Serum, and Brightening Multi-Vitamin Treatment. Phew! Plus a few extra backups of the Hydrating Mist because SeneGence is getting rid of it and it’s a favorite of mine.

Yes, it’s a new color. The purple paint Tom took to get matched was actually the bathroom paint and not the laundry room paint. Oh well. I like this, too!
But look at what happens with the painting when Tom is tired. (It will be fixed later.)
I’m glad he didn’t have to go into work today, either!!
He didn’t get it at first and I had to explain it to him. Then he loved it.

I screwed it up when I did a shirt like this for his 11th birthday, too. I managed to fix that one but this one I’m just leaving.
I asked and turns out I did design it correctly but I forgot to “weld” the design to print as one solid piece… so the Cricut assumed it knew better than me and rearranged the design to use less vinyl. Lesson learned.
When you decide the laundry room floor needs to be replaced before the new machines arrive in three days…
Tom did this today. He’s awesome. (Oh, and he has time to do this because he hasn’t actually had a full day of work yet even though Monday was his first day!)
But check this out. This is what he found when he removed the vent cover! If you look closely you can see something growing in the second pic. Good lord—what on earth happened in the laundry room?!
I told him Anna wanted a picture of him with his lunchbox so he did this. (He also grabbed Owen’s sword but you can’t see it very well.)
He had a zoom call first thing then didn’t have to go in until 2…and then was home by 4! He was a little frustrated (people are teleworking so no one he needs to talk to to get started is there!) but I told him to just enjoy it!

Everyone go check your dryers right now and clean every speck of lint from every single crevice. Detach and open things if you need to.
Our dryer stopped working last week so we filed a home warranty claim. The tech came and looked and said that there had been a dryer fire at some point — which we hadn’t known for sure but suspected since there were marks in the dryer when we moved in 18 months ago (and honestly we didn’t give it a second thought because the dryer worked fine). We clean the lint very frequently so didn’t worry about it.
But!
The Warranty claim was denied. The powers that be said it was a lint fire and that is never covered because “annual dryer maintenance” is the homeowners responsibility and since we’ve lived here for 18 months, it was our responsibility to find it. Even though it’s worked fine for 18 months.
The tech said that he could tell just by looking in there (when he opened it all up) that the previous owners had probably never taken care of it because there was lint falling out. (He said he really doesn’t think you have to do it every year but that’s how the insurance company screws you out of claims.)
So I asked his opinion on the best avenue to fight the decision and he said we can’t. It’s done.
So that’s it. We’re out the entire cost.
The good news? The new set will be here Friday AND Tom started his new job today.
To get the garage cleaned out enough for me to park in! The deal was before it snowed but that didn’t happen…so before the threat of a huge snowstorm was next!
I feel kinda guilty sitting here all day cuddling with my dog but I know these days are short lived so I’m just sucking up all the goodness.
