SPLOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!

Today I’m letting you in on a little secret: I should have bought this thing YEARS ago.
🛒 EZ Off Jar Opener for Weak Hands – Under Cabinet, Easy Grip, One Handed Jar & Bottle Opener – Removes Tight Jar Lid for Seniors with Arthritis – Essential Kitchen Gadgets for Home Assistance – White https://a.co/d/9lk0DiR
☺️ Essential, indeed! And don’t laugh at the “seniors with arthritis” bit—I think everyone needs one in their kitchen, senior or not!
You’re welcome.
Tell me…do you have one? Are you going to Amazon right now to buy one? 😂
Katie found Twister at a garage sale… The dogs weren’t quite sure what to make of it/her.
I left a cabinet open and somehow the dogs got into a bag AND a box and…Katie just found this.
This is what it originally looked like:
It’s just a ‘thing’ so it probably shouldn’t bother me as much as it did—but it was one of my souvenirs from the week I spent with my mom at Pysanky On The River last year and I met the artist (Theresa Somerset, who is amazing) and she had so many beautiful eggs that it took awhile for me to decide and pick this one… And it was expensive and can’t be replaced (I asked).
Stupid dogs.
I think my pups have missed laying on me the past week or so. They’ve been like this for hours now.
I was sitting and reading in the egg chair with Olive when Ivy jumped up on the side table and laid down.
And now she’ll be in middle school!
My original goal for the year was 80 books—now I need to pick a new goal!
Really good follow up to Holes. Recommend! Now to get Katie to read it.
She’s been sleeping like this for awhile…
And this was Katie’s smile…
Sooooo much better than my first attempt! (I learned a sneaky way to do hearts!)
It’s just two small overlapping ovals!!
Anna had to leave town for a family emergency but David still came over for our scheduled dinner. But her absence meant he could also steal her seat!
Olive had no problems with the replacement lap.
Owen grew just a little bit!
I’m getting better but still nowhere near my mom. Hers is in the middle. Katie’s is the heart with tic tac toe. Mine are the rest.
I’m already planning on redoing the pride heart egg because I know I can do it better!
My mom is here visiting…so that means it’s time to do Pysanky! I haven’t done it much since we went to the workshop last October. Because it’s so time intensive, it’s eggs or reading. And y’all know what I’ve been choosing! But I’m taking advantage of her vast experience and making memories…
Owen volunteered to play in the jazz band before his promotion ceremony!
I love that he was able to walk with his good friend Lucas…
And Anna (as school board president) was able to give him his diploma!
And then it was off to our celebratory dinner at The Chocolate Sanctuary because it’s closing soon! Of course I forgot to get a photo of our whole group but I did get a picture of my chocolate strawberry martini!
First and last day photo!
I went to a new place because neither guy I like at my usual salon was available… The guy did a pretty good job except he was clueless. I’m blaming the language barrier a little. I told him I wanted a rainbow—and I showed him a picture—and so I started to point to colors on the color ring and he took them away after I picked the first color. Ooooookay. So I thought Let’s just see what happens. And then after he did all the nail prep and he started to paint, I had to stop him and say I needed to pick some more colors. He looked at me in total confusion. So the receptionist overheard and came over and helped figure that out. And then at the end, I decided that I wanted to add the heart to the yellow nail—I’m super anal and was having anxiety over not easily being able to use all 6 colors, so when my brain hit on the red heart, I was thrilled!—and he looked at me funny and he pulled out the yellow again and I was like No, I want you to draw a heart on it. Can you do that? and he wasn’t getting it. So then the receptionist ran over again and said Design—she wants a design and then just did the heart quick himself.
It wasn’t too busy thankfully. It did get a little busier but nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be for a really nice holiday weekend.
I’m not the only one who likes the egg chair!
Anna and I painted our pets (puppy Olive and Honey) at a local art studio! (Tom and I did birch trees here before!) With the pets, they start you with a pencil drawing from a photo you send— which made it a ton easier!
It was really fun, though I enjoyed it more than Anna did!
Soooo this is happening today. Perfect timing weather-wise as it might be open longer than we thought did to unforseen wood rot issues.
It’s in but I didn’t take a final photo yet because the molding and such isn’t complete!
After he picked out books, he wanted to play. I haven’t played in 30 years. I lost in under a minute.
They are always super excited to pick out the books, then they sit in a pile until it’s time to return them. This summer phone use will be tied to reading…
—without saying they’re lazy. (This is clean and was sent up with a child for their bathroom.)
Owen’s 8th grade graduation boat trip at Navy Pier is today. His entire outfit is courtesy of Tom – since Owen couldn’t wear jeans and didn’t realize until last night that he didn’t have khakis (even though I asked him a week ago) and then also realized he didn’t have any clean shirts or matching shoes. Because kids.
