Just like Anna and I had to learn to always get a cart…
This car is big but not THAT big. One shed barely fits (the tailgate is open) and definitely no room for the second one.

I got my second shot this morning!

Anna and I were awake. The boys were not!

HAHAHAHAHA. We’ve learned our lesson over the months—always ALWAYS get a cart.

It’s crazy to shop with two enablers.
We just ended up splitting the bill since we are still eating together 5-6 nights a week. We’ve both discovered that we love crowdsourcing meals!!

She got a little too warm…

I’m still stuck in the cuddle…

Charlie and Bella were sisters but hadn’t really gotten along the past five years or so. They’d hiss at each other in passing and generally avoid one another.
Charlie had been our downstairs kitty—at every house. She rarely came upstairs and pretty much lived her life on the main floor. She had a special wet food diet (that her sister benefited from) but wouldn’t really cry for food until Tom set foot in the kitchen at whatever god early time he woke up (could be 4a, could be 6a). She did have a random caterwaul that could happen any time, but mostly at bedtime—we assumed it was because she was lonely or going senile.
Bella was our quiet upstairs MBR kitty. She didn’t seem to like people much so pretty much lived/hid in our bedroom—though she did go downstairs to eat and use the litter. She slept with us every night and never cried for food.
Now that Charlie is gone…my how things have changed.
Bella is downstairs most of the time and rarely sleeps with us. She sleeps in random cat beds and sits on the back of the couch. But!—WHAAAT?!—she has started crying at any and all hours of the night. This morning she woke us up SCREAMING (we assumed for food) at 4:30 and kept it up until 5:45 when she came upstairs to scream at us, come visit us in bed for a minute, then leave. But then was quiet—so maybe she wasn’t hungry…but lonely? But she obviously knows where we are since she’s lived in our bedroom for years?!
We didn’t expect any of this and it’s been interesting to watch. So what I’m basically saying is cats are weird.

Look what I did tonight! It always feels like I have no hair after a cut—and it feels REALLY short—but I still love it.

And in a little better lighting at home…

And then this happened…so I’m officially stuck.

I forgot to post this when it happened…

We will have to start paying for the solar loan this fall but for now, this is awesome!

I’ve been procrastinating picking up Charlie’s ashes until the initial wave of grief had passed. It’s been three weeks. I thought I’d be okay.
Nope. Nopity nope.

I’ve never gotten pet ashes before and probably wouldn’t have this time except the kids wanted them.
What a crappy day.
I got the kids a Charlie pillow and Katie loves it and carries it everywhere and even took it to “school” today. (Yes, that’s Charlie’s bed, too. Katie still carries that around.)

I love scallops but am always nervous about cooking them. But since they were defrosted from our freezer issue…they had to be cooked!
They needed a bit more sear (I took them off too soon) but they were yummy!
Kim and I took Katie on our walk today and gave her some practice being a mother’s helper.

Anna and Brianna are running for school board and tonight we get the results! I might have brought over all the frozen pizzas from our freezer than had thawed…

Then the boys and kids went home and we moved inside. Honey thinks she’s a lap dog.

The damn garage freezer motor stopped working so we had a mad rush to go buy a freezer. And of course there are basically none in stock anywhere so we get what we get.
At least we’ve done this multiple times and we have a system down pat.

I’m not 100% sure why we’re not getting the full life expectancy out of our freezers but my guess is that they don’t like to be moved multiple times over hundreds of miles. Or be in the garage.
When your neighbor friends are having a small bonfire and joke that you should come over? Off we go, drinks in hand, to walk five houses away!

I don’t take quite as many photos of the egg hunt anymore but they still love it.

Our group is having our first bonfire in forever—so my new glass has to come out!

(Most of us remembered them!! But we didn’t take a photo!)
I took the kids to visit Brianna’s kittens as they’ve never seen kittens (I know, right?! But ours were already cats when the kids were born!) and oh man did they love it! Laughs and giggles and soooo much happiness. It was wonderful after the recent loss of Charlie.

This was WAAAAAAY too early—her bus comes at 7:09 (!!) but she was super excited (as were we)!!

Anna said David was the cat whisperer when it comes to nails so he offered to try Maggie’s since they were long overdue. She didn’t mind it nearly as much as when Tom and I try to do it. He’s hired.

We’ve started doing Sunday brunch with Anna and David. Sometimes we order out, sometimes we go out, and sometimes we cook. Today we cooked.
