Katie’s first at-bat…and T-ball practice!

We got to the field quite early, so we had plenty of time to use the field ourselves. We gave Katie her first try at batting and she did very well! She missed three right-handed attempts…and then got the first left-handed attempt! Maybe she’ll be like mama! (I also tried and hit 2 out of 3—left-handed of course!)

And then what I think all the kids think is the best part of every practice or game…snack time!

Geese up close!

Another nice day, another trip to the playground. But we also went down to the water today because she heard another kid talking about the pond and she wanted to go, too! 🙂

Throwing rocks and twigs in—a favorite activity.

And then as we were standing there, a bunch of Canadian geese flew in and landed in front of us!

Be sure to listen for this in the last section:
Mom, they’re so cute! Maybe I could be a mermaid and go in the water with them!

And then a few artsy pictures of the boats. 🙂

Women’s clothes sizing drives me insane.

I’m trying to figure out what I’m wearing to the birthday ball this year. I figured since we haven’t gone in a few years and I’ll have lost almost 75#, I deserve a new dress.

So, let me recap today:

  • I tried on a beautiful size 16 fancy dress at Nordstrom Rack. It almost fit. I couldn’t get it zipped but it was damn close. (I was kind of glad because it was $140…but I loved it and would probably have bought it if it had fit.)
  • I tried on a size 18 bridesmaid dress at David’s Bridal. It was a hair loose (and not really my style).
  • I tried a size 16 bridesmaid dress at David’s Bridal. It was too tight; I couldn’t even begin to get it zipped.
  • I came home, tried on an old bridesmaid dress, size 22, which I wore in a wedding 12 years ago when I weighed 10# more than I do now (!) and can’t get it zipped across my back!
  • I tried an old size 18 nice (fancy, but not ball fancy) dress and it’s loose.
  • I tried two size 22 ball gowns (new with tags in my closet!) and they are both passable without alteration (though they’d be better with alterations).

GAH!!!! What the hell? The one that amazes me the most is the dress that I wore for the wedding 12 years ago. It was for my best friend Angi’s wedding and I had just lost 60#. The dress fit perfectly. So when I was thinking about ball gowns, it was in the back of my head that worst case, I’d just wear that one because it would obviously fit. Ha. WTF body? What’s going on?

If you need me I’ll be on the couch.

There’s nothing like tripping on nothing? a small rock? in your driveway, falling and scraping both feet, smashing a knee, and scraping and smacking your wrist to make you appreciate how good you HAD been feeling.

Within 10 minutes my back was hurting along with everything else and I had to take some painkillers.
I knew I should have left the garbage and recycling bins for Tom to bring in. 🙂

Potty training update!

It’s been mostly good… She’s always dry in the morning and pees first thing (she even takes off her own diaper to do so). She very good about getting to the potty at home or asking when we’re out (though we haven’t been out that much). She did have a few issues with poop—it seems if we’re at home it’s better than if we’re out (which means we’ve had poopy undies twice). And today she pooped in the potty all by herself (without me prompting her) so this was her reward:

And then justlikethat she peed on the leather chair! After she had just sat down (so it’s not like she was engrossed in anything). What?! So that was her first pee accident since the first day. Frustrating.

But overall she’s doing very well.
