Katie likes apples and will sometimes ask for one. So I’ll cut a hunk into slices and give her them in a bowl. Some days she eats them all. Some days I get this:
She hands me her bowl and says “Mama, I’m done.”
I look in the bowl and this is what I see (arranged on the counter for ease of viewing):

We’re not putting up the pool this summer (since we’ll be leaving halfway through) so we make do…
And then this happened. I love this kid.
Then Katie wanted up.
They don’t always get along. 🙂

He was running around the back yard like this.
He did this perfectly but of course I wasn’t recording. I had him do it again and you get the idea.
I push Katie in the swing.
Katie: Mama swing!
Me: How about Owen swing?
Owen: No I have bad guys to get.
Me: Owen, who do you want to read your story tonight?
Owen: Good night daddy.
Me: I guess that means me.
It was a rainy Saturday so after our errands we all put on comfy pants.
Me: Comfy paaants!
Owen: Comfy pants party!
Me: Owen, you’re cute.
Owen: Even my butt wiggle? [Of course, accompanied by the said butt wiggle.]
And we’re back to asking why on everything.
Owen: Where are you going?
Me: To the garage.
Owen: Why?
Me: To get a pan.
Owen: Why?
Me: To cook dinner.
Owen: Why?
Owen: What’s the name of this song?
Me: Broken Wings
Owen: Why?
Me: Because that’s what the writer wanted.
Owen: Why?
Tom: Remember we have to Skype with Grandma Marsha today—it’s her birthday.
Owen: Why?
Owen: Mama, you know who likes pancakes?
Me: Everyone likes pancakes!
Owen: Except bad guys who don’t like pancakes!
After yesterday’s water fun, we told the kids they could play outside in the water again since it was going to be nice—they just had to wait until after Katie’s nap. This was actually Katie’s first ever time in a sprinkler—and of course she LOVED it!

I didn’t really want to get wet, so I ran inside to get my telephoto lens. Ahhhh, much better!
It was at this point that Owen accidentally broke the sprinkler—he was attempting to jump over it but instead landed right on it. He wasn’t hurt but we told him that he had to be careful. Then Tom went over and determined that yes, it really was broken, so he turned the water off so he could unhook it while he went to look for a new sprinkler. And Owen lost his shit. He started crying and screaming uncontrollably. We tried to get him to tell us what was wrong (Was he really hurt? Was he mad at Tom? Was he just upset the water was turned off?) but he wouldn’t even quiet down enough to hear anything we were saying. We assured him he wasn’t in trouble and that it was an accident but he just wouldn’t settle down. We had about 10 minutes of what you see below. Tom did find another sprinkler and hooked it up and Katie kept trying to get Owen to come over to it, but he was still being a poop. It took another 10 minutes or so before he was finally back in the groove.
Someone loved playing in the mud puddles created by the sprinkler! 🙂
Owen was coloring with chalk and Katie wanted to see the moo. 🙂

From April 23…I forgot it was on my real camera. 🙂 And then I had some Photoshopping to do.
She saw the iPad and said “Watch Daniel [Tiger] please.” So I handed it to her. She purposefully looked at all the folders then tapped one…then looked purposefully at the app icons and picked PBS Kids without hesitation. I didn’t even know Daniel Tiger was in the PBS kids app, let alone where it was.

WOOHOO! Someone bought and picked up our old King headboard and frame!
I hated to get rid of it because we spent a good chunk of money on it (it was a Martha Stewart!) but we just didn’t love it anymore plus it was REALLY big and REALLY heavy and we’re trying to downsize.

We got the CD from school today! Man he’s a cute kid!

She is definitely NOT her brother when it comes to getting dirty. Before this picture, she was laying in the dirt pile messing around. Here, she pretends she’s on a slide and scoots down the ramp into the grass. Notice the dirty knees.
But damn she’s cute.
Tom and I worked in the garage today—it’s a hot mess since we’ve just been throwing stuff out there as we prepped the house. I mean, there’s always been lots of stuff out there but it was always nicely organized. Lately, I couldn’t even reach my pantry shelves!
We only had what time Katie slept during naptime, but we tossed at least two bags of garbage, a bunch of boxes went into recycling, and we have a big box for the garage sale. And I can reach my pantry again!

Some of it was a little loud for Owen, but overall he did really well and wasn’t bothered by it. (Which is awesome since when we tried this two years ago, he lasted about two minutes.) Katie never even flinched at ANY of the noise!

All of a sudden Owen went from super happy to super cranky when we needed to take the picture.
Oh well. Katie was happy!
So a good time was had by all! I’m glad Owen got to enjoy it after missing out on it the last time, I’m glad Tom was able to go with us, and I’m glad Katie was amazing and just sat/stood on Tom’s lap the entire time! (Afterwards Owen said he was sad that the characters didn’t come up to him—a few of the characters came down the aisles about six rows during one song—and we told him they just didn’t have the time to come see everyone! Poor kid.)
Tom had today off so he took Owen to school…and then later we went on a walk! After she stepped in every small puddle, sat in the dirt and played with acorn tops (they fit perfectly on her fingers), handed said tops to daddy to take home, and watched the ducks…she got a shoulder ride to the top of the hill!
