Who sleeps like this?!
And look what else was on his bed. Who doesn’t clear off their bed before going to sleep? We always hear books and stuff fall off after he goes up to bed.
So sweet and peaceful…
Late nights lead to this.
8:30am
9:15am
10am
Are these my kids?!
8:15
8:45
I guess it’s a good summer?!
I have no idea why they wanted to sleep here.
But why not, right?
This is what staying up late sometimes does.
Especially when Gramma and Grampa are here plus you have a sleepover with your brother.
Impossible tasks lie ahead
I’m really not sure how I’m going to get this kid out the door next year at 7. 😒 I may have to put her to bed at 6:30. 🤬
He swore he wasn’t tired.
Owen was home sick today (nothing major, just a slight temp) and he refused to try to take a nap (I’M NOT TIRED MOM!!) even though I told him to just rest. Imagine my surprise when I looked over to see this.
Every once in awhile Owen agrees to let Katie sleep in his room.
I love the positions she gets into.
Uncovered. Twisted. Hand in pants. Blanket around neck. Dead asleep.
This kid doesn’t like covers!
Sometimes when we go to bed I look in on Katie and this is about what she always looks like…
Unfortunately, her sleeping in is not a fluke…
This isn’t the after-effects of staying up past her bedtime…it’s apparently the new norm.
School mornings are going to suck…
Look who is still sleeping at 9am?! This might be the first year that school mornings are hard…
Yep. He still sleeps like this.
Plus he’s sleeping in!! What?!
Waking up 6.
She’s 6, y’all. Six. Where has the time gone?!
8:58am
I had been up but in my room. I was impressed that the kids were being quiet. I went out and… Katie was so in bed (but awake). I asked where Owen was she she didn’t know.
I found him:
WHAT?! This kid never sleeps in. Maybe MAYBE until 7, but 9?!
Yeah, turns out he had been up earlier—he had been reading downstairs and even had breakfast!—but went back to bed!
And he had a guest in his room because my door had been shut!
When I force her to nap.
She was in a MOOD and wouldn’t stay in her bed to “rest” so I made her lay down next to me. We both napped.
How she sleeps.
I had to wake her up so I opened the blinds and then this happened…
I hate to wake a sleeping kid…
But it was time to get up and start getting ready for school.
This was outside our bedroom door tonight.
A present from Katie…
I forced her to rest…again.
Another day, another fight about trying to get some rest—she still wasn’t feeling 100% plus we were going to a friend’s house for dinner and I knew they’d be up late. When she finally stopped fighting and actually closed her eyes, she was OUT.
I forced her to rest.
We had a snow day today but I would have kept Katie home as she wasn’t feeling well and had a slight fever. She had been fairly active all day with Owen and was starting to get cranky so I made her lay down and close her eyes. After a few minutes of fighting me and being restless she totally zonked out.
Red and green lights to sleep by.
The kids were sleeping with us in the basement for the last two nights. We tried to put them to bed around 9:30 but Katie was still awake when we came down around 11. And she was excited to tell us she put on red and green lights for us. 🙂
