Angi & Forest's Wedding

Pinckney/Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti, MI; July 3, 2004

The wedding was great! And, well, not mine! LOL Meaning it was wonderful not to be in charge and have to stress over anything! (This is the first wedding I've been in since high school aside from my own!) The only downside, of course, was not really being able to visit with the bride and groom since they were so busy! We got to their house on the day of the rehearsal and enjoyed a BBQ and visiting with people. Rehearsal went well...funny story. As all the guys were getting changed (at Angi's), one by one, they came out in blue shirts. First it was one, then a second. Then a third and fourth. In the end, ALL the guys has blue shirts. Totally not planned, but it looked neat.

Oh, and it was WARM. Not North Carolina warm, but enough for me. I was paired with Terry, a coworker and friend of Forest's who was very cool (and he's an IT guy so he and Tom got to talk shop). Dinner was at an italian place and was very yummy (I had lobster and shrimp lasagna) and I splurged on a slice of bread! :) The rest of the night was a bust, honestly. Us girls were SO pathetic...after heading back to Angi's and chatting for a bit, we all decided to hit the sack at about midnight because we were tired! The boys--on the other hand, come to find out--were up until 4:30am drinking and playing poker...but still managed to make it to their 7:30am tee time (thanks to Tom, who had to turn the stereo on full blast to get them up).

The wedding morning activities started at 8am with massages, nails, makeup, and hair (the only one we had to leave the house for). I didn't have anything until noon, so I just lazed around. There was a LOT of lazing around, since only three girls could be in procedures at one time. Once we got dressed, though, time flew. Of course the bride was GORGEOUS (although she did say she felt very strange, like she was playing dress up!). Much to my happiness, I fit in my dress nicely--the bust was too tight, but I wasn't too afraid of busting out (no pun intended)...it was just better to stand than to sit. We celebrated by having a few shots (hard lemonade, since there was no good "shot-taking" liquor).

We were only a little late for the wedding...it was in a park on July 3, so people were already in line to get in for fireworks and concerts that night...so it took us 20+ minutes to just get in. It was okay, though, as guests were facing the same situation and still arriving! The wedding was nice...and short (thankfully, since it was QUITE warm out). Us girls kept talking under our breaths: "Do you have sweat running down your legs, too?" and "Do I have sweat stains on my dress?" It was a bit different, too, in that they had a bagpiper, the groom wore a kilt (and all the garb), and they let out a pair of doves (the photographer got his once-in-a-lifetime shot out of it as well). And did I mention it was warm? LOL Pictures went well (and fairly quickly) then it was off to the reception.

After waiting for the bride and groom to arrive (we couldn't enter the room before them, even to mingle), we made our grand entrance. Dinner was spectactular! (I told Angi I loved her so much I was going to eat the mashed potatoes and bread in her honor!) After the requisite reception activities and a few dances, we excused ourselves to head home to Grayling as we were heading to the UP the next morning...
